Welcome to Pricescope! Excuse me but do I know you?

The name doesn't ring a bell....

Dick,

Can we coax any more information out of you? Who's Who is a place where people are encouraged to tell others a little about themselves. Some people share information about where they grew up or their jobs or families, others just about their taste in jewelry. There are no rules. I'd just like to know *something* about you so that when I see your name I can associate something about you with it :-).

I am laughing. I love your new nickname. I won't out you and will leave the information giving up to you. There is a smoking lounge with fellow cigar lovers in another forum thread I forget what it is called. There is a fellow Furthermore who posted some photos of himself indulging. I heard tell that ladies were welcome, but I wont go unescorted, so If you don't mind I'll just take your arm kind sir and right this way...

I think it's Time to get the watch forum jumping too. Got to get ready for the PAR-TAY !!! Golly, one of the most upsetting things was thinking we wouldn't be able to have out little get togethers. We better call Rodie to join us and Mark too and even some new friends. I'll bring the cubans and you supply the port or brandy and we can kick back and call it home.

It is really good to see you here.

Cant find watches. Forums seem to have been lumped together recently. We will have to go digging it seems.

OK, I'll admit to who I really am. I am the oldest person to every be kicked off the island, on the island I was know as 8131, which name was part of the tail numbers on my airplane, which is 8131M (pronounced 8131 Mike). Would you believe that people like Beth thought that meant that I was 81 years old? In reality I am only 68 years old, but still the oldest to be kicked off the island. Since Beth was so kind as to send a poor Californian like me a Cuban Cohiba cigar, I changed my name from 8131 to Cohiba Aficionado. Thanks Beth!

I hold an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Stanford '57, and a J.D. from the Kennedy School of Law '83, but have been a building contractor my entire life. I have been happily divorced since '64, so that's 40 years now. The ex now wears her rock on a necklace. I am thinking of taking her out to dinner to celebrate what would have been our golden wedding anniversary come 2006. Our son is going on 47 shortly, and he and his girlfriend are thinking of getting married, but I've told them that I am too young to be a grandfather.

I've owned many sports cars, the crowning jewel of which was a 1956 Mercedes 300SL Gull Wing Coupe, which I replaced with a 1981 DeLorean Gull Wing Coupe (big mistake). I've also been into a few airplanes, the nicest of which is a turbocharged twin Cessna 310, the plane flying the 8131 numbers. I have built everything from cyclotrons, to an oil refinery, apartment complexes, and may fine homes, but the San Francisco Bay Area has been taken over by the environmentalists, tree huggers, and NIMBYers, so there are few nice homes built in this area anymore, the last one took me 8 years to get the building permit, so I am relegated to remodeling homes now, mostly homes I built a quarter century ago. I am also an arbitrator for the California Contractors License Board, and do expert witness work for both the state and private attorneys in the area of construction defects.

Over the years I have inherited many watches, and I’ve got pocket watches worn by my father, grandfather, and a beautiful full hunter that belonged to my great-grandfather in the 19th century. I came to the Internet to explore these watches, ran into the Rodentman, and got *pushed* into buying more and bigger watches. The crown jewel of the collection is a new YG Breitling Bentley. So you folks better be prepared to put up with a lot of watch talk, especially when Looie comes around. I have a few beautiful diamond rings that I have inherited, men use to wear diamond rings, but it seems to have gone out of fashion, at least in the Bay Area. Comments were made in the ‘80s, so they have resided in my jewelry box ever since. Are styles changing? Is it considered in good taste for men to wear diamond rings now?

I forgot to mention that my latest passion has been computers, after buying my first one three years ago, I recently treated myself to a custom built computer with all the latest technology I could muster. I have a triple monitor setup with three 23.1" monitors.

And here's my Mom on her 98th birthday, she attributes her long life to the protection she's received from always living with a cigar smoker, her dad from 1905 to 1933, my dad from 1933 to 1961, and me from 1964 to the present, she gave up driving last year and I have to chauffeur her around now. Now aren't you sorry you asked, you now know more than you ever wanted to know about this refugee.

Hello to you AND your mom!

Cohiba, glad to meet you here! I've seen you over on DT but never really crossed posts with you as I rarely entered the watch forum. Not enough time on my hands I guess.

It's great to know more about you. Any friend of Beth & the RM is a friend of mine. I hope you stick around for some fun.

Love your pics and I'm so jealous of that triple screen.

.I'm loving that triple sceen.JAK

Dick,

You are an interesting fella. Glad to have you here! Thank you for fleshing out the bare bones. I also have to say that I love men who really like and take care of their mothers. I feel that when a man has a good relationship with his mother he can love other women, too. [I realize analysis of a complex relationship based on one photo and a few words can be badly off...but you and your mother appear to get on well :-). ]

I'm a city planner here in NC, and before that I was a planner in Gulfport, MS. 8 years yikes!!!

Cohiba your Mama looks so young for her years. Her eyes show what a kind soul she has. I want to hug her!

Deb, I wholeheartedly agree. My grandmother used to say to me when I was eligible and on the prowl to look at the way a man treats his mother and you can tell the way he will treat his future wife. I have found that advice to ring very true in the very limited number of boyfriend - girlfriend relationships I have experienced. The advice was instrumental in my final choice.

Deb, Beth, this ultimately worked for me too. It took me a few tries to find the right fit.

Thank the Lord I married later when I was able to make better choices for myself on something like marriage.

"Kicked off the island" LOL!!!!, in a way, I guess it was like Survivor! Too funny. I'm happy to have found my lovable Rodent here and many others. I'd recognize those "hills" anywhere! I didn't realize there was "life" anywhere else! I'm so glad to see everyone!

(CarmenTN back on the island!)
