Apparently I ruined one of BF's ways of proposing to me yesterday.

(He wasn't going to propose yesterday, it's just that the situation arose that he was hoping wouldn't pop up until HE brought it up later).

OK, well like a week and a half or two weeks ago I posted somewhere that he let me see the wedding band from across the room, but wouldn't let me see it up close or try it on.

Then, the next day, he told me he would let me try it on "sometime soon" if I kept my eyes closed while wearing it. I was pretty stoked about that because I of course wanted to wear it even though I wouldn't be able to see it. He is under no circumstance going to let me see or wear the e-ring before he gives it to me, so I was feeling pretty good about his offer to let me try on the band.

Fast forward to two nights ago, I was over at his house and reminded him that he said he would let me try it on with my eyes closed. I've been dying to get my e-ring, but would be satisfied for the moment just trying on my band. Well, when I brought it up, he said no! I was a bit taken aback, and asked him why not (I'm really stubborn and can't just take no for an answer). He said he just didn't want me to right then, and of course I kept asking why because I am never satisfied with "no" unless there is a reason. The reason doesn't even have to be a good one, I just want some reasoning. He kept beating around the bush and wouldn't give me a reason, and of course I kept pushing back, asking why he told me he'd let me try it on if he wasn't actually going to let me.

I guess he felt cornered, because then he spilled the beans that he wasn't actually going to let me, but he was going to pretend to. He was going to offer it, make me close my eyes, and put the e-ring on my finger instead and then he'd get on one knee and tell me to open my eyes.

I felt like such a jerk when he told me that, and I still do. I'm also upset with myself because he totally had me going and I would have been COMPLETELY surprised by that. I still want to be semi-surprised, even though I know it's coming soon. I've been worrying that I won't be surprised enough, if that makes sense, and he found a way to do it and I ruined it.

My only consolation is that he said he had another plan in mind that he can still do. And also that it's coming "very soon."

Awww...Star....I'm sorry. I would have totally done what you did though too. Don't feel bad, he's got another plan-and it means that you'll be engaged before May 1st! No need to fret.

So have you started looking for wedding shoes yet?

And does "very soon" mean...12 days from now?

MoonWater: Me too. And I was thinking that he was going to have an extremely difficult time surprising me, with me knowing that it''s coming by the end of the month and all.

Freke: I have a hunch that "very soon" might mean even sooner than 12 days! After he told me about his plan, I said something along the lines of "did you think I was going to forget about what you said and not ever bring it up?" He said that he wasn''t expecting to see me very much between when he said it and when he proposed (we live over 40 miles apart and he works extremely long hours so we only see each other a few times a week) since "there''s not much time left now until I do it."

I can''t wait to see what he comes up with considering how good the first idea was. Makes me wonder what my FF will do since I know it''s coming as well. Try not to feel bad though, at the end of it all is a pretty sparkly (that you need to show off to all of us waiting almost as impatiently as you are lol).

ladypirate and Delster: Thanks, it makes me feel better knowing that I didn''t act any differently than others would have in my situation. Really, it does!

TheBigT: I really don''t think it will be this weekend because we already have things planned that are not conducive to proposing. Maybe next weekend? The weekend after next we''re going to Disney World in Florida (we''re in CA) for 5 days and I really think I''ll have it before then. I don''t think I''d really be into a Disney proposal, so I HOPE I have it before then.
