Sending and receiving flowers within Saudi Arabia is not worth the hassle. The matawa (religious police) storm the flower shops on February 14, and confiscate all the flowers being sent for Valentine''s Day, because it''s a forbidden occasion. I remember a boyfriend sending me flowers a few years ago and they never arrived. The florist rung 3 days later and said their flowers had all been taken away by the matawa and they had only just managed to restock, so could they deliver? It seems pointless to even try and send/receive flowers on Feb 14, unless you go to town a couple of days before the day and pick them up yourself.

I''m definitely not getting anything, unless he does an about-face in terms of personality and decides to surprise me, which I highly doubt. I haven''t received anything from him for V-day for the past 5 years. Before that, the first 4 years, I got flowers. The fifth year, I got a pair of diamond studs inserted into the center of two roses. But since then, nada....I think I deserve a new pair of earrings, maybe ACAs from Whiteflash?

I told my husband just to give me the cash he would have spent flowers instead. I really don''t get excited about receiving flowers. I don''t know why? Plus he doesn''t believe me that the secretary at my school reads the cards. Last time he sent me flowers, he wrote "who''s your daddy" on the card and it took me a long time to live that one down.

I agree mrsjam. That is too funny, ''who''s your daddy''

Mrs Jam, "Who''s your daddy"... That is hysterical!

this year hubby and i have agreed not to celebrate valentine''s day - starting at 4pm to 6 pm I have to drink this gallon of pre-colonoscopy "pipe cleaner", if you know what I mean;) it''s gonna be an interesting evening and an even more interesting feb 15!

we never really celebrate vday...but this year he bought me a diamond pendant!! :O! (nothing over the top but a LOT more then I expected!)
It''s wrapped up now

but I''m working on getting it a little early..haha..

Rather than flowers I want the new release anniversary edition of one of my favorite movie ''Breakfast at Tiffany''s''(can''t you tell by my name and avatar)
I first saw this movie when I was 7 years old. A few months later my Aunt took me shopping in the city (not NY) She kept asking me if I needed to go to the bathroom and I kept saying ''No''. I eventually wet my pants in the show dept. of an upscale store. When we got home(earlier than planned
20.gif
) my Mom asked me why I didn''t got when my Aunt asked me.
Well, keep in mind I was 7, I thought that it cost $50.00 to use the bathroom in the city because in the movie Holly would get $50.00 for the powder room. I didn''t know she was a call girl til years later. I thought that''s why they always tell you to go before you leave
20.gif
My Aunt and Mom laughed forever about that and wouldn''t tell me why. Years later my Aunt explained it too me.

Not one of my finer moments.

My fiance actually considered (for about a minute) proposing on Valentine''s Day. Thankfully, he proposed this morning.

In any case, I think we''ll be going to dinner, as he apparently made reservations in case he went with plan B . . . and I know nothing about where it is. I guess I''d better get him a card - oh, and I''ll probably have received our rings by Tuesday.

So about an hour ago I dropped off 2 dozen sugar cookies with pink icing in a box to my sweetie''s work. Their receptionist was on the phone so I whispered, could you give these to Mark? (because Mark had customers in his office)

A few minutes ago, Mark called and said, did you bring cookies by or something? I was a little pissed cause at first I was like, that''s a great opener for a thank you, jerk. He said, who were they for? Now I think he''s losing it but I still answer - for you for Valentine''s day. He said, Oh cause the receptionist had them opened and said that you brought these cookies by and (I? She?) wanted to make sure I got some. So Mark took a cookie and she proceeded to place the rest of them by the coffee pot in the lounge.

Now, I realize I didn''t expect Mark to eat 2 dozen cookies, but that was for him to put out for everyone. And, actually, I thought he''d bring them to his 11:00 - 1:00 all managers meeting. Why would she assume she could open them and pass them about the office, offer Mark one out of the open container, and put the rest up for grabs in the lounge?

And, to add, I didn''t get flowers at work today. Besides, ''it''s a hallmark holiday.''

That just sucks. Maybe she didn''t really understand you. I know at my husbands office, clients are always dropping some goodies off for the employees. How sweet of you to take him the cookies- even if he only had one. The receptionist goofed big time. Maybe you could surprise him some other time and make sure the receptionist gives it directly to him.

Our Valentines is kind of a downer this year. Hubby had a knee replacement last week, so I am on full nursing duties. And my birthday and Valentine gift is sitting in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the corvette museum waiting for me to pick it up 4 weeks from now. Good things come to those who wait! Vroom!

Thanks websailor for the flowers! I have never had flowers delievered to me. NEVER! He will sometimes buy them for home with a cute card. But once I''d llike to be the girl whose kind FI/bf acutally sent pretty flowers!

I was brought my flowers this morning, gorgeous bunch in a pink glass vase. I guess Costco was too busy! I guess it pays to work next to a florist!

Yep, I got mine too. He brought me a dozen pink roses last night when he came home from work. Technically a day early, but he wanted to make sure he got a nice dozen, and they had to be pink.

Websailor, if my husband stopped on the side of the road and picked me flowers, I would just cry. For me, that would mean so much more than stopping by the florist or grocery store for an arrangement. But, I love flowers of all kind, so I''m NOT complaining.

I got mine last nite too, 2 dozen of them and they are beautiful. I love Safeway flowers...seriously the one by our house has GREAT roses and they are typically very affordable but of course they jack up the prices for Vday...but still way less than a florist. My sweetie selected wisely, tighter buds so they will last longer and I got two balloons from him too...hahaa...he said lots of men were wandering around the flowers last nite in the store looking dazed and confused.

Pictures, pictures please for those of us with flower-challenged bfs and dhs.

. What really touched my heart was the single long stem pink roses and the "i love you" balloons he brought for each of our girls

I LOVE getting flowers, which he''s known since we first fought about how seldom I get them back in 1998, but he still doesn''t give them to me very often. So since I haven''t gotten flowers since just after our wedding in June and I''ve been dropping hints like mad the past couple days, I''d BETTER be getting some!!!

You''re quite welcome! I got suprised when I sent a dozen roses to cflutist the day after I met her (with an invitation to Panthom of the Opera which was playing in a SF theatre at the time) and she told me she had never had roses delivered before either!

She thought her live-in boyfriend had sent them...... Ooooppps, I hadn''t noticed that she had a boyfriend!

Fortunately we both got past those little problems

Later I learned that while she does kinda complain if I send them to her office, she also likes the attention they generate.... But in revenge, she has sent flowers to me at my office!!!! LOL!

I don''t know what to tell you - it''s totally amazing to me that any guy would not send flowers to his girl! Especially on/around Valentines Day!!!!

Unless of course he''s picking wildflowers, which are illegal to pluck in California.

DH always picks me flowers, which is sweet, but sometimes WRONG.

Completely unexpectedly, I received a flower delivery at work from my husband...he is such a sweetie.

Flowers are kind of a running joke with us, because I love em, and he didn''t typically think of them. He sent them the first year on our anniversary and v-day, but I told him not to bother on V-day again with delivery because they are just so overpriced.

So, they came today and they are positively stunning gorgeous! So, I thanked him and said "hey, but you really didn''t have to do that. I''ve told you, I''m really ok with not getting flowers delivered on V-day. I hate to think what you had to pay for them......"

His reply: A wide grin and a reply: "Yeah, but you''re worth it."

That melted my heart.

The flowers were nice, but the sentiment was the real gift. I''m so very lucky to have him.

I got a dozen gorgous dark pink roses delivered from my BF! I love them, and they are some of the best smelling roses I''ve ever had! Unfortunately (but not really), I''m going to be leaving tomorrow to meet him for a long weekend, so I''m not going to get to enjoy them for very long. Which is such a shame, because they are slightly closed and would last for a long time. I''ll try to take a pic when I get home.

I knew FI would not get anything until today. He got me a small rose plant and a heart shaped cookie cake.

With my flowers, he also included a package of marshmallow peep hearts. I am a sucker for some peeps. He also got me a card, which touched me more than the flowers or candy. He never sends cards, or gives them. And he actually wrote in it!! My goodness!! I''m swooning!

Took a quickie shot of my roses...!
