Just wanted to introduce myself as ''lady in waiting''. I am 24 years old, dating the same man for almost 3 years. We recently bought a home and we have 2 kids - our Yorkies! We are very much in love and know that we want to get married.

He has promised me he will propose once we pay off our debt accumlated by furnishing our new home. That is the only thing that is stopping him from getting the rock of my dreams.

He is a man of his word (just like he promised me he would find a home for us and he did), so I trust and believe that he wil propose within 2 years...

It''s just the waiting that gets SO HARD!!! lol When you know, you know right?

I love this man and want to get our life officially started. I find it interesting that even though we own property and have our two furkids, when I say this is my "boyfriend" or that I have a "boyfriend" it never sounds right because he is so much more than that... I feel like I am underselling the true entity of what makes our loving relationship what it really is. I''M IN LOVE!

Anyway... I have been GAWKING at this site long enough, so I NEEDED to join. Everyone, I look forward to getting to know you better AND your diamonds!

BTW... this is my DREAM engagement ring from Tiffany:

Welcome!!! This forum will help you deal with that long wait! It''s done wonders for me and I''ve just been here a month or two.

and yes, I totally agree there should be a word for the stage between "boyfriend" and "fiance". I HATE introducing him as my boyfriend because it sounds so childish. And yet he doesn''t really like it when I call him my "significant other" or "life partner"... alas. Everyone in our neighborhood calls me his wife and that annoys me because I want there to be some celebration once I actually AM but he doesn''t always correct them. I think he likes it when they think of me as his wife and he hasn''t had to go and marry me yet to get it. crazy.

and please post pics of your furkids! Quite a few pet lovers around here!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Glad to know there is a support group out there for us!!!

Come here you 2 (Small).JPG

Here is another one of the kids...

I totally agree! I''d use partner but it''s sort of been taken by another group around here!

There was a thread a while back about what LIW''s were most looking forward to about getting engaged and being able to call your beloved something more meaningful than boyfriend ranked pretty high!

That''s a beautiful ring!

Welcome!!! May your stay be short!

Welcome!!

You found the right place for support!

We all know what you mean by hating the "boyfriend/girlfriend" titles now... My SO and I have been talking about getting engaged since SEPTEMBER (7 months ago already?! eek!
23.gif
) and I still can''t can him my fiancé and it really, really bugs me.

I hope you have a short stay on the list!!

Your dream ring is beautiful! Let me tell you that with the wealth of knowledge you will find here, you''ll be able to have that and more without having to pay the Tiffany prices!!
31.gif

AAAHHHHHH THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!!!
9.gif

Also, welcome!! I''m sure you''ll find the LIWs are a GREAT support group!!! They did soooo much to ease my sanity during my waiting period.

And I toootally agree with you; having to call him my "boyfriend" was one of the most frustrating parts of waiting!!!

So cute!! How old are your two pups?

Hopefully your stay will be short
1.gif

Hehe btw, when I saw your name BlackDiamond I wondered...is she interested in black diamonds? I used to think that they were so blah...but after seeing a well cut black diamond they are pretty! Anyway...I love that ring at Tiffany''s it''s very classic and elegant!

Oh, such cute pups!!!

And like Anchor said, while the Tiffany ring is stunning, I''m confident that you can find something just like it or better for a whole lot less than at T&Co. Maybe your wait won''t have to be as long! :-)

Thank you for the comps on the babies... we love em dearly!!!
1.gif
They are 7 months now but in those pics they were 4 months old.

Yes I am moving on from Tiffany as they are countless of beautiful diamonds that come from other places for a fraction of the Tiffany cost. Just always had a thing for them is all...

You ladies have been so sweet in welcoming me. Thanks a lot!!!

Welcome BlackDiamonds!!
35.gif
This is such a wonderful place to hang "in the meantime"- great women- great support- and tons of fun seeing all the LIWs get engaged! Your pups are just too cute for words- I love Yorkies!

Hi Black, Welcome to PS and LIW!

Welcome, welcome! May your stay be short!

And your babies are adorable...*sigh* Puppies...I miss when mine was just a baby.

Very much in agreement on the "boyfriend" thing!! I also HATE not quite knowing what to call his parents... in the beginning I felt most comfortable with the respectful "Oh hello, Dr. and Mrs...." thing, but now that I''ve been close to them for over 3 years now, it just sounds weird. Even his mom commented on the awkwardness of it when she called the other day... and I actually said to her "yeah seriously, it''ll be nice to finally get married and be able to call you guys Mom and Dad!" Exasperation is making me bold.
9.gif

The funniest thing was when my dad and boyfriend were golfing last summer and ran into a friend of my dad''s, who asked "oh is this your son?" ... and my dad (who is DESPERATELY excited for us to get married) proceeded to look at my boyfriend innocently and say "hmmm, good question, what ARE you exactly?" (FYI - My boyfriend replied "let''s just say future son-in-law... very near future"... too bad that was almost a whole year ago!

It''s funny, because we''re I am we don''t do that, calling the in-laws "mom and dad". Not that I''d want to call them that either...
14.gif
I called them Mr and Mrs until she told me I could call them by their first names, so that''s what I do, and I''ll keep doing that even when we''ll be married.

Welcome!!!!
35.gif

You''ve come to the right place!!!.......and I LOVE your puppies!!!!!!!!!! way too cute!!!

Welcome, welcome! Congratulations on the house, furkids, and hopeful proposal!

And let me add that boyfriend is just a terrible description. Oh man, I know we can''t wait to say fiance!

Hope the stay is brief!

"Boyfriend" is specially terrible when you have to use it at work. For example, some of my work related decisions include my BF (since he lives away from me, long story)...anyway, I feel just silly saying "boyfriend" because then people look at me like "are you serious?, it''s not like you are talking about your fiance or husband!"....grrrrrr
29.gif

Welcome BlackDiamond21!!!
35.gif
Glad you decided to join us!!!

Your little furbabies are absolutely precious. Are they siblings?

I am in total agreement that the whole "boyfriend" thing is a pain!!! I always get questions about why I would be someone''s girlfriend for almost 5 years. One girl I used to be friends with (now that is a whole other story and another thread), she told me that after one year of dating you have to give your man an ultimatum that if he has not converted you to finance in the next 12 months you will walk out the door. She got married last weekend to a man who made her a fiance in 4 months after their talk --- but he has been stepping out on her that long as well.
38.gif

I know that this in between period is akward, but it will be worth it in the end. We really need to come up with another name for our boys though --- preFI --- like pre-engagement?

I''ve called him my FF (future fiancé) a couple of times, but people stared at me and asked "How do you know he''s going to propose?", "Isn''t it like you''re already engaged?", "Isn''t it like ruining the surprise?"
20.gif
So I gave up.

Welcome BlackDiamond! It''s unanimous --we hate the word "boyfriend." I feel 16 every time I say it!
14.gif

I LOVE when my BF calls me his fiance to other people, but i haven''t really done so until this weekend. Hmmm. Well, maybe somebody creative here can work on that???

Anyway, welcome and I hope your furniture gets paid off pronto!!!!!!

welcome, hope your stay is short.

i hated the boyfriend/girlfriend too. we have a house and whenever we need to call about something he would always refer to me as his fiance and although it sounded nice, i''d get annoyed b/c i wasn''t his fiance. now that i am, when he says my fiance, i get chills - :)

let make up a word for better than boyfriend but not quite fiance...hmmm anyone...bueller? bueller?

biance (beyonce) lol
boyfonce?

what am i thinking...it''s late, i should get to bed.lol..welcome again

Yup, "boyfriend" hardly seems to acurately describe where most of us are in our realtionships. I try to use "significant other" whenever possible, but its a mouthful.

Welcome, BD!
35.gif
(hope you don''t mind the abbreviation!) You have come to the right place! I hope your stay is short and sweet!

Oh, and your pups are precious! More and more adorable yorkies around here...gives me dangerous thoughts!
9.gif

OMG your furkids are TOO precious! I lost mine last Nov. and everytime I see a dog - especially a Yorkie - I just melt! Names? Welcome to LIW! If you indeed are waiting for 2 years, I''ll be there right along with you! May your stay be shorter though! Gorgeous ring btw!

Hi everyone! Thank for the "short waiting time LIW club" well wishes!! lol Those are great... I hope the same for all of you as well.

And for the graduates, congrats!!!

<--me green with envy!!!

Just answering a couple questions:

1. My name came from part of my race (Black) (not very creative I know lol) and Diamond because they are truly a girls best friend and 21 is my fav number.

2. My babies names are Lowie (low-wee) and Chowie (chow-wee). Their paper names are Lo Mein and Chow Mein Jackson. Their dad is Asian and I am Black, so we took some very sterotypical names from each of our races. Lo Mein and Chow Mein being popular Asian fast food dishes and Jackson because it is a very well known Black last name!!! We have a great sense of humor... lol
2.gif

3. They are not siblings but they look SO MUCH alike you would think they were. We love ''em!!!

BTW... Mimi I like the name preFi! Just gotta figure out how to avoid the question, "What''s that?" START SPREADING THE NEWS!!!
1.gif

Fata... abbreviating my name is all good! Trust me I do unto others as I would have them abbreviate unto me!
2.gif

Ilovesparkles... I am sorry to hear about your lose. There are plenty of babies out there to love still should you be ready to give your heart again to another Yorkie baby...
4.gif

Not to sound redundant but I REALLY look forward to know you all better! Thanks for replying to my thread...

LOL! Just wanted to say a late hello and welcome, BlackDiamond! I love your babies and their names!

Question: where did you find that first ring? Is it in the Eye Candy thread? I love it! (Well it does look a lot like Albi''s and hers is my favorite.)

Welcome! Those furbabies are the CUTEST. On the "boyfriend" subject ... how bout using the term "my doggies''daddy"?? Kinda "street" kinda adorable! I tell my doggie all the time "go to Daddy" ... "kiss Daddy" because, as I''m realizing just this very instant, I am a goofball.

Welcome BlackDiamond21, your kids are just beautiful!!

Hehehe, decodelighted, DF and I are the same with our furkids (2 mini foxies). When he puts them to bed at night he says "say nigh nighs to mummy" and I refer to him as they "daddy". Funny ain''t it
