Hi Everyone -- I am pretty new at this, but I figured I''d start a topic so you guys could get to know me.
I have been dating my boyfriend for two years and change (we met on New Years Eve in 2004). He is an outstanding, wonderful person, and he makes me a better person!
We have been talking about marriage for the past few months (actually, since our 2 year anniversary on New Years) and we had both agreed that we should probably wait it out until summer, since my big brother is getting married this June. We didn''t want to interfere with that, or cause any disruptions, etc. Of course, my answer to that was that we can be engaged and still have a good time at this wedding!!
Anyways, I guess he is thinking along the same lines, because out of the blue he took me to a few jewelry stores in town here so we could look at the different styles!! I went in knowing exactly what I wanted. I was all geared up for an emerald cut stone with baguettes, something to that effect. Well, after some research and a look at the cushion cut stones, I am HOOKED on those. The one that I tried on was a 1.2 Carat D-color VVS2, Lazare cushion cut. I have NEVER seen anything so sparkly in my entire life. It totally blew any emerald cuts that we had looked at out of the water. So, needless to say, my boy''s budget will not quite stretch to that length, and I am now out of the loop. Knowing him, he will get a good quality diamond a bit smaller, that I will still love. I am pretty excited, but still not sure when I''m going to get the darn thing!! And, he wants to keep the proposal/etc a surprise. But I am really glad he involved me in this initial process of research. I think I''ll be really happy now with whatever cushion cut platinum ring he picks out for me!!!
But, I guess for now, that still puts me in the "Ladies in Waiting" category, right?

It''s still scary for me to think that I can put my whole college education price on one finger of my hand.
