Did you book it on the internet or with a travel agent?
How far in advance to the wedding did you book it?
Where did/are you going to go?
What time of year was it?

We went through a travel agent (read: I knew i was going to be the one having to piece it together if we did it over the internet and i couldnt handle any more!).

Our wedding was Aug 6th, honeymoon was a month later. It was probably April/Mayish when DH went and found a travel agent and got info. It wasnt until June that we booked it with a deposit and everything had to be paid in July, like 45 days before the trip.

We went to Hawaii (3 islands) for 2 weeks in September. The reason for our month delay was all the prices dropped after Labor Day so we saved a lot. It was also nice to have a little time between the wedding and the honeymoon, although a week would be PERFECT, month was a little long. It gave us time to pack and buy those little odds and ends we needed, and unpack and put away all the gifts. I cant tell you how wonderful it was to come home to a spotless house!

Ours is the end of May and falls into Memorial weekend. We orginally were going to use miles, but the flights from Houston to San Fran were the cheapest I''ve seen so we went ahead and did those online via Continental. The first night we are staying at the Ritz in SF, and my FI is using AMEX points for that...so he went through AMEX. Our wine country hotel we booked online through their website and they called to confirm. He''s using AMEX points for our rental car too.

We booked so soon so that we could get it out of the way an not worry about it, plus with the holiday weekend we wanted to make sure we got everything reserved.

I just read somewhere that it should be booked 6 months in advance! So I was starting to panic. We are waiting at least a week or two after the wedding before we go on our honeymoon. Thanks for the info ladies.

The reason for the tip to book 6 months in advance is because some places give discounts if you book that far in advance.

We booked through a travel agent, she did all the research and we didn''t know what to look for since it was our first time there..she also got us a great deal so it just made sense rather than piecemealing it on our own. We did the Hawaii stuff on our own for the wedding but the honeymoon we had her arrange everything. Now that we have done it, we''d have her book it again but we''d have her get us a car added into the package! hehe. She also arranged most of the guests travel for the wedding.

hm.. we kinda did piecemeal, bc we''re staying at FI''s parents timeshare for a week... but the flights/car we booked thru a travel agent (family friend) bc I just didn''t want to deal w/it... and the rest of the time FI booked the hotel w/his hotel points...

I think we only got some of the details settled just this month/last month, and we''re less than 4 mo out, so I wouldn''t really worry about it too much... maybe it depends if you''re going somewhere during high season they might have deals?

I think we compared some of the online prices w/our travel agent quotes, and they were comparable... so we just let the travel agent book it so less trouble for us.

I just did it all online:

Expedia for airfaire (had to ''cause we''re flying 2 different airlines that don''t codeshare) & car rental.
Starwood for hotel (I used points for part of our stay)

We''re going to the Costa Allegre, an undiscovered part of Mexico''s Pacific Coast, and staying at the El Careyes Resort. It''s part of Starwood''s Luxury Collection: http://www.elcareyesresort.com/

We''re staying for 5 nights during the first week of October.

I travel extensively for work, and am always online booking airfares/hotel. I''m pretty comfortable doing it- that''s why I went the DIY route.

Booked everything online - about 4 mos before the wedding.

We stayed stateside--spent a few days in San Francisco (hubby had never been); and a few days in Las Vegas (new to both of us). Nine days altogether in mid-July.
