The ring looks too tight on her finger so maybe its a comfort issue? Maybe ask if she would like to resize and reset it? OR, I''m a size 6 - she can send it to me!!!

her ring fits fine.her finger was swollen from putting the rings on and taken it off (many times) for the hand shots.

I am stumped...it is a GORGEOUS ring!
DF, you are so good at asking questions...just ask her

I think you should upgrade it to a 6 ct., then upgrade the wife to me, then you can ask me silly questions every day

Well, just my opinion, which differs from many (or possibly most) on PS, is that it''s too big! If my DH got me a 3.34 ct diamond, I wouldn''t wear it either. In fact, I would ask him to return it and use the money to buy me many smaller diamonds that I can mix and match.

What kinds of activities do you and your wife engage in? Are you at ''fancy'' venues where a diamond of that size wouldn''t stand out in an awkward way?

ETA - what is the size on the smaller stone?
1.15 ct. anyway, she''s been hinting me about wanting a pendant
greatideamaybenot.gif
maybe i should take the 1.15ct and make it into a pendant, that way she has no choice but to wear the bigger ring, plus that wouldn''t hurt my wallet as much.
31.gif
Oh, no, that is so mean. That plan may backfire on you and your wife may rebel and not wear any ring at all!
9.gif

A 1.15 is a great size for daily wear. Is there any way you can possibly trade in (or up) the bigger diamond for a pendant and earrings for her that are also of smaller sizes that will be more in her comfort zone?

Talk to her and work out a game plan that will make both of you happy.
1.gif
she wears a pair of 1.5 ct tw studs daily. said shes missing a pendant.

Wow, gorgeous rings! I''d wear that ring everyday!

Send her on over. We''ll help her put that stone into a ring or pendant that she''ll refuse to take off!

Oh and DF... you should probably send the credit card with her, just in case.

Crazy woman!
Ditto! And lol!

I went back to your original post for the larger ring and you said she didn''t like the 4 prong because she was afraid the stone would fall out. Isn''t that your answer?

i don''t think it has anything to do with 4 or 6 prong setting.

Well what is it then? Did you ask her yet?

Lovely ......

Do assure her that diamond shrinkage WILL set in once she has been wearing it for awhile!
emotion-5.gif

Otherwise you can always fedex it to Singapore and the Singapore PSers can take turns.......

Your original post didn''t really ask a question so I won''t give an answer... however, I am waiting for the end of this saga and finding out what your wife said when you asked her why she wouldn''t wear it. Hmmm... have you asked her if she would like it in a necklace more? She could come up something absotively G E O R G E O U S with 3.3 ct. I''d certainly rather have 3.3 carats of that beauty closer to my heart than my... well, you get the drift.

And yes I meant to write "geo - geous" - as in "geo - ology!" ....

I''ll wear that honker!
31.gif

i would wear it. i cant believe you have not asked her yet. i am now interested in the reason

I second that, beautiful set of jewelry!!

My feeling is that she probably thinks it draws too much attention to her. As I have heard you say before, you were robbed where jewelry was stolen, even if subconscious she doesn''t want to invite that kind of attention. If I had that size ring, I would probably do the same she does, keep it locked up, and only bring it out for special occasions, which is totally fine. The 1.15 carat ring is a complete stunner and more for doable every day, so I''m not surprised by her choice.
And yes she needs a nice pendant to complete the set

what??
33.gif
her reason for not wearing it b/c she has short finger nails
33.gif
she said...the ring wouldn''t look good with her short finger nails, said shes gonna put on some fake long finger nails before wearing it.

Just curious.....did she want a large diamond for an upgrade or did you surprise her with it? Maybe her original e-ring means more to her sentimentally and she''s not bonding with the honker yet.

I have short nails, prefer smaller diamonds, and it would be a cold day in hell before I ever wore fake long nails. Really, a big diamond ring just gets in the way of everyday activities. So do long finger nails, BTW.

Make the BIG stone into a pendant!
1.gif

Yes I think that is what I would do.
It would make a Faaahhbulous pendant!!

I think her reasoning of having short finger nails is not invalid. A 3.34ct diamond is going to draw a lot more attention and if your wife is conscious about her nails and hands (like I am) then she may not want to do this. However, a really well done manicure would make one's hands look good regardless of the length of the fingner nails and would therefore allow her to show off that beautiful boulder.

A possible reason is, as someone else said, the robbery. She may not feel safe wearing it, because again it may draw too much attentionn to herself.

Yet another possible reason is that the setting is 4-prong instead of 6. Did you not say in yr other post that yr wife felt the 4 prongs may not be safe and if something happens to one, the diamond would fall out?

I''m sorry to hear that. I''m getting the feeling that she doesn''t want anything to happen to this ring either. Like others have mentioned, it may be a safety concern because of the robbery. She will definitely draw attention to herself with a stone this large.

Hmmm...DF, was this upgrade really for her or for you? It just doesn''t seem like she''s comfortable wearing this ring. I could be wrong, but the short fingernails sound more like an excuse.

DF, I''m getting into the "I''ll wear it if she won''t" line!

Maybe you can get her a gift certificate for Valentine''s Day to her favorite beauty or nail salon as a little hint - maybe if her nails are manicured, she''ll feel better about wearing that big gorgeous ring!

i think there would be a better chance of losing the stone on a pendant then on a ring.
