How do I sell a wedding set and get a fair price for it?

I have a nice wedding set, circa 1950''s. The engagement ring is one solitaire and two smaller diamonds flanking it on either side (total 5). The band has 5 diamonds and matches those on the engagement ring. Total 2.5 carats. They are set in 14 carat gold with white gold holding the diamonds - common for that time, I hear. This is a very nice set that has good sparkle and has been informally evaluated at $4000 by a reputable jeweler.




I''d love to sell it, but don''t know if I''m better off just selling the diamonds or not. I don''t really want to settle for too much less than the value.
