You can buy a silver jewlery polishing cloth from a jeweler that has 2 sides--one removes tarnish and the other polishes. For intricate pieces like these earrings with lots of texture and/or nooks and crannies, buy a silver cleaning solution from the supermarket and follow the directions.

To keep silver from tarnishing, place the item(s) in little plastic baggies and store sealed in the baggies--this method prevets most tarnishing for a long time. Or, buy one of those "Silver Saver" jewelry boxes that is lined with a special material that prevents tarnishing for 20 years or something. I know QVC sells them.

has anyone tried steam cleaning?? we stopped in at tiffany''s and other than a foaming cleaner....that is what was suggested.

the polishes and cleaners work on surfaces, but we cant get a shine from the hard to reach details or tight corners....

ill do a search for silver saver boxes/storage etc. thanks.

Yeah, those are really tricky to get clean. I use Q-tips for pieces like these. Simichrome is the only polish I'll use. Clean with Q tip & for the hard to get out paste - run a soft toothbrush over the piece while running the water.

I've never steamed clean silver. Can't comment on that. But, I like the depth that an aged piece takes on; so, other than when a piece gets really dull - I don't clean.
