How do you wear your rings?

I'm in the process of having a ring made and am wondering which finger to have it made for. My first impulse is to have it made for my right hand ring finger, but I have an old ring that I would like to have resized for my pinkie and don't know how they would look right next to each other. I currently wear a thin band on my left pinkie next to my wedding set, and that doesn't bother me, but the two right hand rings would both stick up from my finger because they will both be stones in mountings. Does anyone wear their rings this way and could take a picture? The other option is to have the college ring made for my middle finger.

I am also considering having some stackers made with small stones in prong settings to wear on my index finger. Do any of you have pictures of rings on your index fingers? The only ring I ever wear on my index finger is just a metal ring in a heart-shaped design. I'm unsure how I feel about stones in mountings that stick up very far off of the finger. I'm fine with that on my ring fingers but does it look weird on your index finger?

I size my rings so they can be worn on the middle finger of the right hand or the ring finger of the left hand. This way, it can be worn on either hand (those fingers have the same size) or, in very hot days, on the ring finger of the right hand. This gives me the most versatility, as I usually wear a ring on each hand.

I am slowly starting to wear taller rings (they just kind of sneaked up on me, you know). Visually, I don't see any difference between a tall ring on the middle or on the ring finger. I can't wear 2 rings on adjancent fingers, though. So, I would wear middle finger + pinkie, but not the ring finger. This is both for comfort and esthetic reasons (I think the hand looks unbalanced).
