How long did you date?

I guess this thread is somewhat old, but our courtship seems to be an unusually fast one on this thread - he courted me for 6 months, and we were engaged for 8 months. So a total of just over 13 months from first date to wedding.

oops! Should have read all the posts first. I should also add that we too were older (past our 30''s). Very happily married for 2.5 years and counting....

Ooh, I can''t believe I never responded to this one. My story is crazy. We met in September of 1993 and it was love at first sight but I was dating someone else at the time. We started dating in February of 1994. We were together for almost a year but I think we were both too young to be in a real relationship--23 years old--so we broke up. But we always stayed in touch over the years. We got together a few times but our circumstances were always off--I was moving across the country, he was dating someone, I was dating someone, etc.--so it never really worked out for us until...January, 2004. I had moved back to NY, he was just getting out a relationship and started to "court me". We didn''t officially start dating till July of 2004. Got engaged in April of 2005--just 7 months later. Getting married February 6, 2006 after a 10 month engagement. He just moved in with me in July.

So technically, I''ve known him for 13 years but we haven''t been together the whole time! He''s always been the one though. Oh and I''m 34, he''s 35 so I think as you get older and become more mature, you don''t need as much time to make these decisions. We knew as soon as we started dating again that we were going to get married...

We became fast friends and were best buds for a year, then dated for 7 before getting engaged and were married a year later. Total time knowing him 9yrs, time together 8, feels like a lifetime
