I love a good poll since all the lurkers can answer too.

So here goes-for all the ladies in waiting-how long have you and your boyfriend been together.

I always love these polls because it helps to know there are other LIW who are waiting just as long as you are for their proposal!! My boyfriend and I have been together almost seven years... hopefully I will be engaged before we hit that mark... my fingers are crossed!

I think I should have made more categories at the upper end-sorry about that! Feel free to add your stories.
I''m at 4.5 years.

You didn''t have an option for "since the dawn of time"

We''re together 4.75 years today! (And it''s exactly four weeks since we''ve gotten engaged)!

7 years and are planning to buy the ring around our 8th anniversary when we return to New York

Been together 8 yrs, i know, an eternity, but we started dating when we were 18. we''re now 26 (i''m a few months from 27) and its about that time!! a bunch of friends have gotten engaged, this year alone i''ve had 4 weddings to go to. it just seems like everyone is getting engaged/married but me. we''ve talked about it lots, we both want to spend the rest of our lives together. i''m not a patient girl, when i want somethng i want it NOW. i hope he hurries up!!

Our 3 year anniversary is in a month and a half, and we''ll be married a month and a half before our 4 year anniversary.

We got engaged 2 1/2 months ago, 6 weeks before our 3rd anniversary.

We''ve been together for 4 years...and I''m still waiting...::taps foot impatiently:::

4 1/2 lovely years!

I didn''t vote since I am not a LIW...I''m a BIW :} But Strm and I met 9 years ago last month and have been engaged for 3 years last month :}...and I can''t wait to spend the rest of my life with this wonderful man :}

Six and a half years, and I''m not even 22 yet!

We''re high school sweethearts, so of course it''s more sensible to wait until we''re older to get married, but at the same time I really want the commitment. The wait is killing me! We already have a ring and he is planning to propose soon. We will have a super long engagement, though (3 years or so), because I don''t want to get married too young. But having a three-year engagement makes me feel better than having a nine-year relationship without engagement!

We have been together about 7.5 years, we had been together 7 years and 3 months when we got engaged. And when we get married we will have been together 8 years and 7 months. Wow!

Long-distance will do that to you.

It''s funny you mention that, because my college roommate had the exact opposite happen to her because of long distance. She was 20 when she met her boyfriend, he was 27. They were TOGETHER together for about 2 months and then did 6 months of long distance, then SURPRISE! He asked her to marry him on Valentine''s Day (that''s right... 8 months in) without her even knowing it was coming. He said the distance made him want to nail down their future so they wouldn''t have to be apart ever again.

Needless to say, as her roommate (sitting in the next room while all this was going on) I was shocked, shocked, shocked. Meanwhile, my boyfriend and I had been together for just over 2 years at the time and thought we still needed some more time to "grow up."

Yeesh, I guess they say "Fools Rush In."

I''ve known him for 7 years, met during my first week of college, started exclusively dating 5 years 10 months ago, and was engaged one month past our 5 year anniversary. We''re planning a long engagement so I can finish law school, so we''ll have been together almost 9 years when we get married! GEESH!

We were together just shy of 5 years when my FI proposed --- 4 years and 11 months essentially. We have to decide if we are going to try to get the wedding together by May --- yeah I know that is crazy!!! --- or if we are going to wait until 2009. We are trying avoid a wedding during our articling years for accounting and law since those 2 years will be too crazy and busy on their own.

No, nothing has changed. I never had a specific timeframe. He and I were supposed to move in together this summer but my place didn''t sell. I had hoped he would propose before the end of the year but have a feeling it might be longer given our having to postpone the move. I don''t know if he''ll propose before we live together and there''s no real rush...quite yet! If it doesn''t happen by Jan-Feb., I think I will talk to him seriously and see what he''s thinking. Given our plans to move out of state in 2008, that would become very difficult to accomplish if he didn''t propose by early ''07 b/c we''ve both agreed we would be married before leaving the state. So we''ll see...
Thanks for asking and sorry for the thread hijack!
