I''ve become a serious PITA with drinking-- I always leave things unfinished. I have a glass of wine? I don''t finish it. A beer, ah... half empty. I like the taste, but after about half, I''ve had a taste and I''m good. I rarely even order drinks at resturants anymore. I enjoy mojitos but rarely order them. Most are too sweet and not authentic at all anyway.

I''m 31 BTW. And I did drink when we went out in law school. But, eh... now? Take it or leave it most of the time.

I''m not much of a drinker anymore, either. I probably drink most often when I travel for work-I usually go out for cocktails with my boss before dinner. I travel about once a month on average, so I really only drink once a month!

I pretty much drink girly drinks only. I just don''t like beer and I''ve only had a few wines I really like. I used to drink a lot more when I was younger but I just got over it, I think!

I drink but I don''t swallow

I don''t drink alcohol.

I could take it or leave it most of the time too. The problem is I am picky and don''t like the taste of most drinks. I am also a light weight and HATE being hung over so I rarely have more than 2 drinks in a night. Except in college of course when I socially drank I can''t remember the last time I was drunk. It was probably at least a year ago. Funny though, now that I am pregnant ALL drinks look good (b/c I can''t have any). Even stuff I KNOW I do not like. Go figure! I am looking forward to a nice cold margarita in about 4 months!

I have no trouble taking a yummy cocktail down LOL! My limit is 2 though. I just get very silly with 3. Even if it is over a few hours. I never finish an entire beer though. It just gets gross to me.

We have all kinds of liquor in the house. My husband likes to have a drink daily beer, wine, whatever. He is a typical French man. For me, most of the time i''ll take a few sips & be done. I will however finish champagne, mimosas, bellinis, a glass of red wine with pomegranate seeds thrown in & a few other things if I make them.

1 beer every year or 2.
after staying drunk for 6 months strait when I was underage, gave it up a week after it was legal.

My FI and I rarely drink. Occasionally my FI buys hard lemonade or something similar but I never have any of it. I don''t even remember the last time that I had a drink. Never at home -- it just feels weird. I pretty much have a drink only occasionally at weddings, if we''re out to dinner with friends, at a BBQ, or social stuff like that.

I'm pretty much just a wine girl, with the exception of a beer with my sushi. And two glass is more than enough for me--any more than that and I'm down on all four barking like a dog!

I don''t know much about wine, and unfortunately I only seem to like the stuff that''s expensive - $50/bottle or up. And I never order it in a restaurant because I usually just end up not liking it (and don''t want to pay enough for one that I would like). Don''t like beer, never drink it.

Love hard alcohol, but only get cocktails if I''m out and in the mood to have one. But if it tastes too strong or bad, I won''t finish it simply because I paid for it. I just don''t drink that much I guess. I''d rather save the calories for dessert.

HA!! A *bad* day to ask this question ... at least for moi! I''m gritting through my first hangover in probably 10 years! DH is out of town and I had a little solo taco/margarita party last night. They tasted so gooooooodddd I just kept sipping -- probably had a total of three and that was 2 1/2 TOO MANY!!! Ooof.

I''m surrounded with non-drinkers. None of my nearby friends drink, DH doesn''t drink, my dad doesn''t drink, one sister - nope. It''s hard to get used to being the only one EVER drinking -- but I still do. Usually a glass of wine w/dinner, maybe 3 times a month?

Interesting post!!

I get fairly excited about the idea of drinking, but never end up finishing more than a few glasses of whatever I''m having. I do love meeting friends for happy hour, or opening a bottle of wine on a random weeknight, or even the occasional game of beer pong on special occasions...

...but I get wicked hangovers and I''m just not all that interested in getting "wasted" these days. Even so, I probably end up having a drink 2-3 different nights in any given week.

Weirdly, I probably drink more when I''m with my family than any other time... my parents never drank when we were growing up, but now that we''re all 21 or older, they''re enjoying their newfound freedom!! Mom and I will often kill a bottle of champagne over Chinese food, or my brothers and DH and I will hang out in the hot tub with a few beers. Maybe it''s just because I''m too cheap to buy my own alcohol... but when it''s already paid for, I''m in!!

I have either a beer or a glass of wine almost every day with dinner, usually because M suggests it. When he''s out of town, it doesn''t occur to me. I love a good margarita and tend to over-indulge in those a bit, and when we go out for good beer, I usually drink one more than I should because I get social and don''t notice that I''ve drained my glass. I''ve always been a "fast drinker" whether it''s water or wine... and when my glass is empty, I fill it. That''s the main difficulty in portion control, I think.

Oh, and being around my family makes me WANT to drink... but I rarely do because my sister is a recovering addict and doesn''t like to smell alcohol because it reminds her of her bad days.

I drank a lot in high school, so much that I really have little taste for it now. I have to FORCE a couple drinks down before I can enjoy drinking. And almost always it isn''t worth it. I love the idea of a glass of wine so sometimes I agree to it - but I rarely drink half. The taste of alcohol feels in my throat the way rubbing alcohol feels on my arm - well, plus pain. But that astringent nasty gross flavor just ruins drinking LOL The last time I had more than 1/2 a drink was a year ago january (see sytycd thread lol).

Zilch. Can''t handle any alcohol.

HI:

Long gone are the University days of 4-5 drinks.......an hour....LOL

My DH and I love red wine & champagne. Altho for personal reasons I have not been drinking for the last 3 months, we often would share a bottle with dinner (and during the evening) on Fri/Sat nights. I never drink during the "school" week--not interested in dealing with a headache up early. Altho I like the odd cocktail (marg, mojito, daquiri) the hard stuff gives me the worst headache....not to mention I''d have to be dialyzed if I had two drinks of GM and the like.... Beer rarely, if only a sip or two on super hot days.....

cheers--Sharon

Hardy any. A few sips? I have what you call Asian flush. Alcohol gives me a headache and makes my drowsy. I turn red really fast. I can''t handle more than a couple sips of wine. Maybe half a beer but I don''t really like beer much. And hard liqueur I stay away from. I''ve never taken a shot in my life. I think it would make me pass out.

yeh, i'm with ephemery1 about the idea of drinking being more appealing. it's like i'm a drink tease. i'm all about it then fizzle out after half a glass. hehe. i'm a light weight when it comes to drinking and i don't like the buzz/drunk feeling AT ALL.

i don't drink on a daily basis, but we have a few drinks when we're out with friends. that probably happens once a month of less. i'm up for anything, beer, hard liquor and i love a good bottle of wine! if we're hanging out at a restaurant with friends, i'll probably end up polishing off 3 drinks.

we went to bj's last week and finished 4 pitchers of their blonde brew. there were 7 of us drinking it. it was so yummy esp with the chicago style deep dish bj's favorite pizza! oooh, and their pazookie!

my favorite beer is hefenweizen. delish!

I like to have a few cocktails on a Friday night, or a few beers when DH and I go to a baseball game or a friend''s house...and I love wine, right now I''m on a pino grigio kick and I like to have a glass before dinner or while making it, and then with dinner. I''ve even been known to have another glass after dinner as well, lol! Drinking doesn''t really bother my system too much, I seem to be able to process alcohol in moderation without getting hungover, unless it''s a matter of staying up too late during the work week and then I''m just a bit tired and cranky the next day but i think it''s due more to the lack of good sleep than the booze.

I went to a party school in college, and with that being said, my body can unfortunatly hold a lot of alcohol.

Long gone are my college days (well, 5 years ago)

I usually will drink about 5-6 drinks one night a week - usually a Friday or a Saturday. I rarely drink much beer anymore, as it makes me feel too full. I enjoy usually white wine or a vodka/red bull. Trying to lose weight has also curbed my drinking habits, and I''m proud to say its been working, since I have lost 16 pounds since December.

Gosh, I never drink. Actually I hardly ever drink and when I do it is usually a glass of wine or 1/2 a beer. If I drink more it is super easy to get buzzed.

When I was in school, I went to tons of parties and drank.... but now that I am out of college, I am more of a special occasion drinker, and I rarely have more than one or two drinks then.

The last drink I had was half a glass of sparkling white wine last Saturday at a dinner party. The only alcohol I like is a bourbon and coke - don''t like the taste of most alcohol but quite like the taste of it. I would have one about every 6 months or so.

I hardly ever touch alcohol nowadays, probably only would have 6 standard servings of alcohol in a year.

A few years ago, I used to go out drinking with work colleagues on Friday nights (about 5 times a year) and drink heavily - up to 10 drinks. I''m 5''2" and 50 kilos and that''s a lot of alcohol for someone my size, but the thing is, I can hold my drink and have never had a hangover or thrown up or just been a plain mess.

My ''drink'' of choice is filtered tap water and lots of it. If I go out to dinner, I will have a water with my meal, not soft drink or alchohol.

Geez am I the only lush here?

I''m not bad, but compared to the rest of you I am! I normally don''t drink on th weekdays, but on the weekends, a bunch of us get together and drink lots of wine. Tonight was a bit of a special occasion since my sister in law is in town. We finished 2 bottles of wine between the 3 of us, and my SIL and TGuy had 2 or 3 beers to start. This was from about 4 pm on though...

Wine just goes down way too easy for me, and I have a very high tolerance for alcohol. Other than that, I drink beer or vodka and soda. I do not like sweet fru fru drinks.

Depends on the season.

I enjoy wine or margaritas with my girlfriends maybe once or twice a month, but I usually only have one or two drinks tops.

FI and I will crack open some wine or occasionally make cocktails at home sometimes, but not too often, maybe once a week max.

BUT there are certain meals out that I like drinks with, like beer with sushi. But I usually don''t drink it all at a meal...

So I guess I''m a "not much" girl too!

Nah, I could probably pass for a lush myself, or so my husband jokes sometimes. In my above post I use the term "few" very loosely, as in, when the occasion is appropriate (or sometimes no occasion at all), I can handle more than the standard 1-2 drinks in an evening and not be falling asleep or acting like a complete idiot. Dh does have to remind me sometimes, that wine is for sipping and not for chugging, LOL!

I''m surprised at how many don''t drink here, too! I don''t drink much either, but I thought I was in the minority. I''m in the "I really like the idea, but will be so sick the next day category". However, it''s never stopped me from an occasional night of multiple Grey Geese on the rocks!

(my fave drink) Wine and beer actually give me a worse hangover than vodka...hmm

Oh, but in the heyday of college...! I put on 30 lbs in the first six months. No joke. But I''ve lost it now and man were those fun times!!!

Wow, I can''t believe how many people here don''t drink! I grew up in a household where my parents have alcohol almost every night - 1 cocktail or 1 glass of wine. Never seen them drunk, though.

When I''m with fiance, we''ll usually have a glass of red wine with dinner. It''s good for your heart. Sometimes if I''m feeling celebratory, we can go through a bottle between the two of us in an evening, no problem.

A big treat for me if we go out is to order a dry gin martini with an olive. Fiance likes manhattans, which my mom turned him onto.

I rarely drink more than 2 drinks per night. I can get a nice relaxed feeling (not quite yet buzzed) from 1 martini or 2 glasses of wine. Last night I went out with some work people and our boss, a huge wine connoisseur, brought 4 bottles from his personal collection. I had about a half of a glass of all 4 over several hours, and hardly even felt anything when it was time to go home.

I''ve never really been drunk, never puked, never had a hangover. I suspect I have a higher tolerance than I pretend to. I actually kinda really like drinking, which is why I limit myself and never drink by myself, ever. I feel like it would be too easy to fall into a pattern.
