now types of drinks?

MMMMMM. See I must be in the "likes THINKING about drinking" camp!

Wine (red & white) -- with dinners sometimes
Beer -- only at the ballpark or in Ireland
3.gif

Margaritas -- with Mexican food! Fave all-time combo
18.gif
Regular on the rocks w/salt OR made w/fresh watermelon is TO DIE FOR
Gin & Tonic -- one of my sisters' standard cocktail served at their house. Often had whilst doing baby things & playing with kids. Their version of "happy hour"!
Baileys -- in the winter, in front of the fire
Rum Punch and/or Shandies -- tropical vacations!
Champagne -- only in Mimosas & rarely ... I don't like "plain" champagne *shrug*

I don''t like wine or beer. I like fruity cocktails but only if I can''t taste the alcohol, aka has to be really good alcohol and has to be mixed properly. Give me a glass of sweet sangria and I can drink half the pitcher, same with some tasty type of icy cocktail or a guava blended margarita!! But a table with wine or beers I won''t even touch. I do love dessert wine aka moscato or ice wine but you typically don''t drink much of that since it''s so intense.
We would get along famously, girlfriend.
9.gif
Don''t we already?
31.gif
Even MORESO than we already do.

I love to drink wine. Also enjoy a good margarita or pina colada. Love port and singlemalt scotch. Did I mention cognac? Love it.

I used to drink about one glass of wine every day. My husband is something of a wine collector and we have a lot of good stuff on hand.

However, I have read so much about the connection between alcohol and breast cancer that I have cut myself way, way back.
8.gif
. Only maybe one drink every 10 days to two weeks.

I miss that good wine but I can live like this. Now b/c I drink so little I will only drink the really good stuff!

Oooh, ok favorites:
Champagne! (especially with a little Chambord mixed in...mmmm)
Any red wine
Vodka and club soda (usually Grey Goose)... clear liquor + sugar-less mixer = no hang-over!

Only certain times of day:
Bloody Mary
Baileys in coffee

And if I'm in a "beer-y" mood:
Cider (when I lived in London for a semester, it was cider and blacks -- ok all you English people, make fun of me now
2.gif
)
Hefeweizen w/lemon
Stella Artois
Becks light

Types of drinks.

Wine: Most anything with a few varietal exceptions.

Beer: Lambec and Belgian white (Blue Moon)

Champagne cocktails: Kir Royal type drinks (Chambord is my favorite!), Bellinis, mimosas. I love champagne cocktails

I perfer French Extra Dry champagnes if I am drinking them straight.

Hard:

Mojitos
Malibu Baybreeze is my standby is nothing else looks good and I want a drink.
Tropical drinks with Mango, guava, pineapple made with either tequila (like peron, don't like cuervo) or rum. I don't drink vodka it doesn't agree with me.
Baileys on the rocks.

Fun thread! I''m actually not a wine person at all...I don''t like the taste. I do like a glass of white now and then, and a good sangria too, but that''s it for wine. I definitely enjoy a good beer, pretty much anything, as long as it''s not too dark (I don''t like oatmeal stout or anything like that). I have a hard time drinking something that''s got a lot of alcohol in it...if I get a rum and coke where the entire glass is rum with a dash of coke, that''s a little bit too strong for me. ;) I do love fruity drinks too!

My fav drinks:
beer, anything from corona, dos equis, miller/bud light, stella, fat tire, whatever''s convenient!
a good riesling, prosecco, or sangria
smirnoff ice (in the summer)...i had the raw green tea last weekend and it was really sweet but GOOD
mojitos!
rum and coke (bacardi or captain)
amaretto sour (haven''t had one since college though)

That''s usually what I stick to when I go out...if I''m at home and we have a variety I''m more likely to experiment.

OH! Mara have you been to Rosenblum Vineyards? It''s in Alameda (in two airplane hangers) they have this muscato that litterally tasted like heaven. Best I''ve ever had. Light and not too intense but just fabulous. I would totally encourage you to go there and try some (tastings are free).. we tried some other dessert tines and they were very good too all of them were light in style and very aromatic.

Ooh! Bf and I are going out to Alameda in a couple weeks for our anniversary, and we love a good dessert wine. We''ll have to check this place out!

ooh types of drinks....mmmm...
My all time favourite is sparkly rose wine-delicious and I could drink it by the bucket load, but as it''s nice and fizzy it takes me a bit longer to drink.
Champagne-especially Moet. So easy to drink
West Coast Cooler-it''s like a white wine spritzer
Peach Schnapps and orange juice-can''t have too many though as it''s very sweet.

I haven''t drunk vodka since I was 17-drank WAY too much of it one night and so lucky that I didn''t need my stomach pumped

-oh to be young and stupid again!

Ummm - I drink pretty much everyday but Mondays and maybe Tuesdays.
Golfing requires Miller Lite.
Dinner at a restaurant means a Jack & 7 while waiting for our table and perhaps another at dinner.
Dinner at my parents is red wine of their choice.
Pool parties at my parents is either Coronas or vodka lemonades.
Parties at my house are frozen blender drinks.
Boyfriend coming over means I should have Miler Lite on hand.
Going to the local bar? Miller Lite.
Getting dressed up and going out elsewhere?
Martinis
Margaritas
Red Stripe
Dundee''s Honey Brown
Jagerbombs
Tequila Rose
Peach & SoCo

DH and I drank wine with dinner almost daily until I got pregnant. I spent the next three years either pregnant or nursing so I was dry. DH had been drinking a bit more than I realized and we discussed it and he gave it up almost totally. We have an occasional glass when we go out to dinner but that''s about it. Mostly for me, I don''t want the calories. I do love a margarita once in a while in the summer. I had the best margarita ever at Frontera Grill in Chicago recently. Yum!

It''s interesting because in my family we had two factions: My mom''s side which were all lushes including my mom and my dad''s side who didn''t drink at all. My dad was a beer drinker but he didn''t like much heavy stuff due to the hangover, which is how I my sister and I are. My other sister seems to have inherited the lush gene.

Yanno, Allisonfaye brings up an interesting point. Aside from the fact that any more than 2 drinks and I'm down on all four barking like a dog, there's also the calorie issue. At 100 cals per glass of wine (and SO MANY cals I can't even think about it in things like margaritas) I have to choose between food and alcohol or else I'll weight 500 lbs. So it's not necessarily that I don't *want* another glass of wine or a pina colada, but I want french fries and chocolate peanutbutter icecream more, lOL.

This vision almost makes me sorry we didn't have a couple more drinks at lunch....

This thread is making me yearn for a good girls'' night out!

My favorite cocktail: Effen Black & 7 Up (YUM)
With dinner: Sangria (tapas place) or wine (italian or steak place)
I drank Bass in college, but beer is too filling now.

The truth is that I only drink cocktails if we''re out on a Saturday night, and for the last few years I''ve been drinking iced tea with dinner more often than wine! I do love Effen, though.

wooo I just found this thead.... Well since my girls are older.... i have to admit that I have a glass of wine everynight while I make dinner... I come home and just love to relax and cook or hang by the pool and wait on carryout :)... I love all sorts of wines... not a big beer drinker but will have one sometime out by the pool with the hubby on a hot day.... I love Kendall Jackson Chard., a good merlot or a pino...YUM :) wooo sometime a nice big frozen marg. is fun toooooo :)

Types of drinks:
Pomtini.
Margarita - strong and on the rocks. I love the taste of alcohol. Don''t ruin it in the blender!
Wine - peppery and strong reds.
7 and 7 - I feel like an old lady when I have that one because it is what my grandmother would occasionally have.
Vodka and OJ.
Gin and tonic.
Cosmo.

Last night my whole office went out to eat Mexican and I had my first margarita that had any perceptible amounts of alcohol in it in months! It seems I keep paying for drinks with such a little bit of alcohol that I am just paying $7 for a glass of fruit juice. How can I tell? Because I am such a "cheap drunk" that I am tipsy on Anything! I can only handle one drink per night--one beer, one margarita, one glass of wine! One drink and I get sleepy, two and I get sick. It''s a fine line I have to tread, but I consider it a genetic gift--there is no way I could be an alcholic and I am a cheap date which I am sure my husband appreciates.LOL

My favorites are: Peach bellini at Macaroni grill or any peachy drink
Reisling
German beer at a German restaurant
Margaritas
occasional red wine with steak dinners
Bailey''s Irish cream at holidays

I tried one Mojito but wasn''t impressed--maybe I should try another one as you all seem to like them.

YAY, fun thread!

I probably drink 3 or 4 nights a week...usually just a miller light or a glass of red wine while I watch TV with FI if we have it, I'll pick some up if it's on sale at the grocery store. Both take me a long time to drink, so they'll last the week. I can't keep pinot grigio in the apartment though because I love it and I'll house the whole bottle and then regret it the next day, I drink anything cold really fast!!!

If I'm going out for drinks with friends I'll probably have between 1 and 3 cocktails, depending on what we're doing and how long we're doing it. I try to limit the number of times a week I go out though to once on weekdays and once on weekends because it's expensive and I am not making it to the gym as often as I should, so justifying the extra calorie intake is hard.

My favs are:
Pinot Grigio (Obviously!!!)
Champagne
and
Dirty Martinis!
18.gif
I absolutely LOVE these, but I can only have 2 max or I turn sloppy.

I don't like fruity drinks at all. Plain margaritas on the rocks with salt are ok (I'm a salt lover) or sangria at mexican restaurants as well. Sangria is as fruity as I'll go though.

TG. Monnie, Ellen, Mandarine, and Belle...scootch over and make room for me, please. I drink a glass of red wine or two almost every night with dinner. I''ll drink a beer, preferably Sierra Nevada, if it suites the location (I''m all about food/drinks matching atmosphere, a glass of wine at a sports bar just doesn''t make sense to me). DH doesn''t like wine at all, so very sad! He drinks a beer or margarita with dinner most nights.

Depends on the season. I''m a beer girl, Coors Light only, which is really just flavored water!

During the winter, I have girls night out once a month, drink 2-3 beers.

Family events (Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, birthday bbq''s), maybe 1-2 beers.

During the summer, unfortunately more. Never during the week, but on the weekends, we have a pool in our backyard, so host family/friends just about every weekend. Again, just 3-4 beers during the whole event, whether it be afternoon or evening, but generally once per weekend. I can''t drink 2 days in a row, even if I only have 1-2 drinks, just can''t drink for a few days after. The "taste" for it is gone.

Back in my drinking days, I LOVED frozen qualudes. They tasted like a chocolate milk shake, but what a kick. Also like comocozies (sp?). I''d drink Jack and coke if I felt like kicking someone''s butt, or Jim and coke to get in a loving mood.

OMG!! I just saw this thread.

This woulda been real fun back in the day. But now I''m a fuddy duddy. We''ll have wine, or a cocktail when we''re out at dinner. That''s about it now.

Beer,....... Pilsner. Pilsner Urquell is the best. But I''ll drink just about any Pilsner.

Wine,....... I love White Zinfandel. That would be my first choice. I don''t care much for dry whites or reds. I like fruity wines.

Cocktails,.......Perfect Margaritas straight up, Extra Dry Martinis on the rocks, and Bloodie Mary''s. I also love a good Souther Comfort Sour now and then.

Bourbon and Coke. Wild Turkey, W L Weller, Maker''s Mark.

Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch on the rocks.

I prefer Martini and Rossi Asti Spumante to champagne.

Coffee with Kahlua and Frangelico is a great ending to a wonderful dinner.

And,........ Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away,........ I had a wild night with Long Island Iced Teas. Just drank and drank cause they tasted so gooooood. Never saw what hit me! Haven''t had one since.

It''s funny, my drinking habits have changed quite a bit. When I was younger and living in London, I used to drink all kinds of different things, ranging from champage, T&G, cocktails (of various sorts, but mostly Brandy Alexander, Long Island Iced Tea, White Russian etc.), white and red wine, beer (or rather just lager, never bitter or ale). And I only drank when I went out with colleagues, friends which usually meant weekends and evenings afer work, never at home not even with parents or boyfriends. But I did drink several drinks in one go, one time - I was with some British male colleagues and I tell you they can really drink - it was something like 10 T&G (or rather 5 doubles) and trust me, i was sick like a dog the next day!
6.gif

Now hubby and I drink almost every day. It was 2-3 glasses of wine every day, or if we go out, it may be also champage or a few cocktails. As part of my effort to lose weight, I''ve cut down to 1-1.5 glasses everyday and hope to cut out drinking during the week all together and to keep weekend drinking to a max of 2 glasses at a time, whatever it is. ANd I don''t drink red wine any more, unfortunately - despite its health effects, as I got really really sick on it once and now even if I just smell red wine, I feel sick. As I get older, drinking excessively until you''re semi-conscious is no longer fun!

I remember Brandy Alexanders and White Russians.

I used to have a Brandy Alexander made with ice cream as a dessert. YUM!!!

Probably drink once every other month or so? Sometimes every 3 months? When I do, I have a 3-drink limit, however mostly I''ll just have 1 or 2, depending how I feel.

I''ll also leave drinks unfinished, especially beer.

Favorites: good sangria, margueritas, straight (but good) tequila, single malt scotch (Oban, Lagavulian), kir royal, nice port, some red wines, *some* beer (like the 8/bottle belgian or microbrewery stuff)

See why I don''t drink much? I can''t afford it!

Ugh, ditto. Can''t touch ''em!

I never drink beer...I think it''s unclassy and not very feminine. No offense to those who like it, but I just sort of can''t wrap my head about drinking it.

Ironically, I also don''t like fruity girly drinks, cause they''re too feminine. I don''t really want to drink something that a man wouldn''t be caught dead drinking. Also ironically, fiance really enjoys strawberry daiquiris and other fruity margaritas - sometimes the virgin (!!) variety, which doesn''t bother me at all.

I don''t know why I care so much about what other people think of what I''m drinking, but I do

Fi and I really enjoy college football. During the season we drink 1-2x a week at our house watching the game or at a bar that plays our team. Other times during the year we drink about 2x a month when we have people over or socialize. We both drank pretty heavily in college, but now only have a couple of drinks at a time. It really amazes me how overboard people were at my undergraduate college in the midwest. It definitely "normalized" the college drinking experience.

We are both beer drinkers. Wine gives me headaches and I don''t really like the taste of it and I think fruity drinks are too sweet.
