I think culture has a lot to do with the amount we drink as well. I'm Australian born to Chinese parents and drinking was never a big thing in our family. My dad enjoyed his whiskey. My mum never touches the stuff, nor does my sister. My brother drinks a glass of red wine every now and then but not because he enjoys it - he drinks it for the health benefits. He can't stand the taste of it! I also find that out of all my friends, it's mainly the ones with asian heritage that don't drink as much. This is my experience only. It may be not be that way in the wider asian community.
