Oh my gosh this is so funny... my dh and I were just talking about this last night. Kenny, get out of my head

I always say if I could choose I would choose good luck any day of the week over hard work and effort and determination.
In my observation good luck is always the better indicator of success over hard work and determination.

Yes, we need to work hard to be successful at any of our endeavors but good luck also plays a significant role and one I might argue that is more important.

There is only so much we can control and the rest is luck. And whether one's luck is good or bad and whether or not we have some influence on luck ultimately we can only do the best we can and hope for the best too. Because it is not just hard work that gets us somewhere. It is good luck too. IMO

IOW Hard work is necessary but not sufficient.

I acknowledge I have been lucky in life. I was successful in my career and yes that was hard work and hard work alone. But meeting my dh. That was luck. We did not travel in the same social circles and yet we met and all odds were against us (won't go into details now) and yet we fell in love and started a life together. That was, IMO, pure luck. And I consider myself very very fortunate because hands down, meeting my dh, was everything. For me and my life as it is now. I am super grateful and some say it was fate and I say it was good luck (and fate). He is my B'shert

There had been occasions when I was at the right place at the right time.

However, just because I happened to be at the right place and at the right time, I needed to be considered as a "good egg" to be given the opportunities.

I worked hard to be a "good egg".

I sought opportunities to learn portable/transferrable skills/qualifications whenever possible, and to gain as much knowledge and experience as much as possible in my industry.

I seldom say "no" without offering my reasons and suggestions to address an issue.

I strived to be "helpful and knowledgeable" in work and outside of work.

I guess I have done not too bad a job to be a "good egg", and am grateful for my lot.

DK :))
