I''m having an outdoor wedding in August and I can''t decide on when to start the ceremony, the ceremony itself would be about 30 minutes long. The ceremony and reception are at different locations, about 10 minutes away from each other. I''m debating if the ceremony should start at 3 or 3:30.

If I have the ceremony at 3 and it concludes at 3:30, that leaves us 2.5 hours for picture taking and getting to the reception. If the ceremony starts at 3:30 and concludes at 4, that I have 2 hours. Maybe I''m just over analyzing this.

How much time are you allotting between the ceremony and the reception for pictures?

thanks for the input!

It depends, what kind of pictures do you want? Do you want formals? Do you want you (and your BP) to go somewhere else and do fun portraits? Do you want to get pics of just you and your new husband? Figure out exactly what you want pics of - including writing down all the groups you want in your formal pics - and give it to your photographer. He or she will be able to tell you, based on that list, how long you will need. Keep in mind that if you travel somewhere else for any or all of the pics you will need to factor in travel time.

Do you plan to go anywhere to take picture or just have pictures taken at the venue and then off to the restaurant and how far is the restaurant from the venue. I will be having 2.5 hours between mine (I think) and we plan to take pictures at another location between the ceremony and reception.

We will be taking pictures where the ceremony will be held, but we are also thinking of going to Stanford University to do photos there as well. It''s only about 10 minutes from the ceremony location. However, the photographer said that it''s likely that other brides will there to take their photos as well. My other option will probably be a local park or something. All in all, all locations will be in a 10-15 minute radius from each other.

If you will be competing with other brides to take pictures, allow yourself extra time. If I recall, you or your fi are Chinese right? Chinese people don''t mind the time difference between ceremony and reception.

I will be taking my pictures at Cal. Which reminds me, I need to check the football schedule. That could affect my plans.
