It's important to remember that certain aspects bring a diamond into "Fair" cut grade, which don't necessarily result in an ugly diamond.
This combo gets "Fair"
D69.2
T54
CA 36.5
PA 43.2
So it doesn't spread well, yet not ugly.

70+% depth??? :o I guess these are two examples of what we refer to as "super steep/deep" cuts. :knockout:

I have seen many times OEC being graded as Poor or Fair, but IRL they are beautiful..... i can never understand that.

Most likely because a lot of those cuts are graded weirdly at GIA, and the grades don't account for the flowery petal patterns that draw so many of our eyes to them. old cuts just need to be judged in person

GIA does not give cut grades to OECs and circular brilliants.

Oh yes, you are correct, i have seen Fair/Pool regarding Symmetry and Polish, but they are beautiful diamonds. They seem so perfect in my eyes.

Definitely it’s ultimately what appeals to you, more important than a report. You need to remember when the older stones were cut, it was all done by hand so symmetry and polish weren’t up to the more readily available consistent standards we see today.

OEC is a different animal compared to a MRB.

Technically this is a good cut grade so it misses your desired window. MRB that I would buy all day long!
