How should I halo my Jedi spinel melee around this rose cut diamond + a half-eternity band?

Hi all!

I scored a lovely little parcel of Jedi spinel melee and a "true antique" rose cut diamond (my first!) a few days ago. I finally have both in my possession and I've been thinking about haloing the diamond with the melee, but at a loss for concrete designs.

The melee are 1.8 mm rounds while the rose cut diamond is a wonky 5.3 mm roundish.

Poking around Pinterest, I found a few... but would still love to hear PS recos :D

Two similar designs with a bezel for the centre stone...
Which would be better for the melee—individual "flowery" bezels in the first (or are they too small for this)? Or the plain pavé in the second?

This one has a little more oomph but I don't know if it's really my style...

I want something that's simple and will let the little Jedis really pop.
I like the contrast between the more demure rose cut diamond vs the neon Jedis :kiss2:

For the half-eternity band, is it possible to use melee this small for it?
Am I restricted to just the pavé setting style for the half-eternity?
Is the below style a good option?

Would love to know your thoughts/recos! I wasn't sure if I could post this in Rocky Talk as I'm more focused on the Jedi melee vs the rose cut diamond... so here we are

Thanks in advance!

An air gap/line halo? Here is my 9mm Rubellite set in an air gap/line halo.

Not sure of your budget but a possible double halo? What is your finger size? 3.5 mm is pretty small and almost the size of stacker rings. 1.8mm is definitely not to small for halo nor eternity size stones.

Should you? Most definitely! :mrgreen2: Halo the stone and put them on the shoulders, as well, since you have plenty. I also like chrono and Rfisher's ideas of either a double halo or YR floral design. Have fun!

Love the first design you shared. It would be stunning in rose gold as well.

Beaaaautiful rubellite! :kiss2: I would've thought it was a ruby ruby!
What is the benefit of an air gap/line halo over the regular "seamless" kind? :D

My ring size is US 5 - 5.25 :D Budget, I'm not really willing to spend too much or go too crazy—this is more a "for fun" ring, no occasion, I'm just itching to have the spinels on my hand so I can stare at them all day

Ah, thank you! Then I can definitely still have a half-eternity with the melee :kiss2:

Double halo, tiffany soleste is a nice one, I'm working on one myself with a ____________ colored sapphire Screenshot_20220323_191219.jpg
The more I think about it the more I think the first halo would be diamonds, that would make the diamond look huge, not that it isn't a mountain already ⛰️then the Second outer halo spinel followed by the spinel on the sides, may I ask what metals are you thinking of, and what inspired you to create this contrast of colors?
Thank you for the input! :D Hmm, I'm not too keen on the squarish / cushion look of this specific double halo; I prefer the softer curves of a round silhouette...

On metals, I'm not sure, actually! Initially I was thinking rose gold, but then I said "hmm, yellow gold would look nice and rich too", and then I said again "but white gold would make the spinels stand out and the diamond look bigger(ish)"! o_O :lol-2: evidently, I've yet to decide! I guess it will depend on the final design I go with.

The rose cut diamond I actually bought on a whim—I haven't really been a diehard fan of rose cuts, but something about this specific one called out to me... plus it was such a steal, I couldn't say no  Now, rose cuts are obviously not little sparkle bombs and to set them alone would be a little boring for my taste... so when I came across the Jedi spinel melee and got them for a very reasonable price, I thought they'd be perfect together! The Jedi will bring life and contrast, and the rose cut will anchor and bring in that sweetness, elegance into the mix.

At least, that's what I was thinking! I hope that made sense

I think bead set the melee in a floral type halo around your rosecut.
Yvonne Raley does this type of design really well - for inspo pics.

Pretty layout and stones!
Thank you for the tip!! I searched and saw a thread here with YR rings. I found this very pretty one that I'm strongly considering in my shortlist...

(This is @apacherose's ring—on the first page)

I have some even smaller pink diamond melee that I could use for the outermost "halo"!

Thank you so much! the YR thread is such a treat—I'm sure I'll find more inspo! :kiss2:

Thank you! It is pretty, isn't it! And thanks for the RG vote... I can't decide what metal to set it in!

YR typically will not set outside stones
But it doesn’t hurt to ask (I asked Inken not long ago to set my sapphire in fancy shape diamond halo and got turned down because that reason - wah!!)
DKJ also has some kinda similar floral type rings bead set - check him out for ideas too!!!

@margauxmines thank you! That was my first custom cut CS from Jeff W back in 2015/6!

I LOVE air gap/line settings in that it offers good finger coverage without incurring much cost.

DK :))

Yes I get it, round and flowing, the others I sent were after I thought about it, especially with an antique stone.
I do have an asscher peach sapphire that I will set into an antique-style halo some day, with invisible set stones—like the examples you sent!
Here she is on the left:

But I don't plan to do that till much later on... I imagine it'll be a very costly setting project

Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to get my ring done by YR anyhoo—I'm in SE Asia and it would be difficult :(sad I will likely just get design inspo and modify so it's not an exact copy, and then have it made locally =)2

Ahh, precision cut wins again! :kiss2: Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you for the air gap tip—I didn't know that! :eek2:
