How should I set this tourmaline? Ideas please!

Hi everyone. I’m looking to set this cushion tourmaline, and I really can’t decide on a setting. I bought it a few years back from Litnon, and while I really love it, I’ve just not been comfortable enough to set it, but I need to stop procrastinating and settle on something!
I love ornate mounts; halos, diamonds, scrollwork etc etc. I know that lots of you have TDF settings and great taste, so please tell me what you think would look nice, and/or show me if you have something similar. Thanks in advance. =)2

Your stone is beautiful, and the mount is very pretty! I love the engraving! Unfortunately, it’s not really what I’m after. I’ve bought a couple of really nice stones set were in that style, and I never wear them. If I do, I just look at them and wish the setting was more blingy, but that’s just me. I think I’m definitely a ‘more is more’ kind of person. ;)2

Here is my cheapo Amethyst from JD on the left, in a bezel halon setting with a plain shank:

The Amythest is similar in shape and size to yours.

What metal are you planning to use? To my mind it might look nice in rose gold. I have no inspirational settings of my own but the settings that spring to mind on pricescope are the aquamarines belonging to @Niel and @Acinom

I seem to remember that both of those people have some stunning rings. :kiss2:

I was thinking of either WG, or maybe two tone with a YG head. I’m not really a huge fan of rose gold as it blends in with my skin too much, and I like jewellery to pop. :)

Thanks for sharing! Lovely rings! I also have a cheap JD amethyst that I’ll get set one day. He does cut some lovely stones doesn’t he? :)

Can you show examples of rings you like?
I think that green blue would really pop in rose gold- but I don’t like ornate halos in gold.

Well they seemed to fit with the aesthetic you described! I can't do it easily for you or I would but I would look up the two I mentioned.

I hear you on the rose gold when it's too rosey it doesn't look great on me but I think it would be good with that stone. Just my opinion but not sure on the yellow. White gold or platinum would look nice also.

I must admit, I never liked yellow gold that much until I joined PS and saw TLs beautiful rings. I actually hope she chimes in as I really like her taste. I think the YG in her pieces really makes them stand out. This is one of hers, though I can’t remember what the stone is.

Here are a few settings that I really like. It was difficult to find ones that were square/cushion shape from my photo stash. I never knew I had so few to draw upon!
 
Thank you Elle, you totally get my taste as every one you’ve posted is gorgeous! So many droolworthy pieces!:love: Do you have any info on the third one down, with the little baguettes? That one jumped out at me, but no probs if not. =)2

Question, since I've only purchased semi-mounts: How do you order from a seller such as Fire & Brilliance, who only shows completed rings? Do you just ask for the ring without the center stone, or just buy it as is and have it removed? Are most jewelers agreeable to selling a ring with no center stone? o_O

This is my favorite setting. I plan to put my emerald in this. A bit blingy but I love blingy colored gemstone rings.

I bought this stone because I wanted to buy a tsavorite which has inclusions but is over 3 ct and that was the deal. I love garnets, and as time has shown, am not a tourmaline person at all. Your ring is so unique and beautiful! Most rings with that many prongs somehow interfere with the beauty of the stone. This setting enhances it!
