I recently bought some wood petrified opal with native copper freeform cabs
What would be better fit them, gold or silver?

Really really beautiful and so interesting to gaze upon. Each one a picture painted by nature.
I’m seeing a necklace in yellow gold with chain link between each piece.

I like that, all the pieces in one necklace

I’d wire wrap them in copper. Beautiful gems, especially that second large oval cabochon.

This is a brilliant idea!! I would consider agentinum silver.

wow, beautiful colours, first and second look like a picture of Autumn. I'd do something golden/warm, maybe gold plated silver.

So interesting, I know it's my imagination but I can almost see leaves in the first one. Can I ask - what do they weigh? If you wore as a pendant or bracelet, would you notice a weight on your neck/wrist?

Magnificent!

It really depends what you like. Personally, my vote is a mix of metals. The first three in yellow gold, the next two in silver, and the last? not sure. But I caution you that cabachons in simple silver bezels are quite common and can be found in abundance for next to nothing at every gem show I've ever attended. Gold would set them apart, imo.
