OMG I made a huge mistake. I got so caught!! Way caught up. The manager at the MAC cosmetic counter did my make- trial today. I wanted something different for my wedding day. I bought $200.00 worth. Than I walked out of the store, got in my car, looked in the mirror and saw Purple 80s eye makeup. In the store I thought I was wearing plums and browns. Well together those make purple.

My FI can see a line under my chin from wear the foundation stops. Instead of my eyes looking round and popping. They look slanted and almond shaped.

Now I have to admit.......I have a ton of make up. I love make up. I love buying it and wearing it and trying new colors, lipsticks ect.. However, I have never purchased anything from a cosmetics counter at a department store. I buy Revlon colorstay products mostly.

I got so excited with all the choices and colors and i thought it was so much fun. I looked at it carefully as she did it. I thought it looked soooooooooooo nice.

Than i got outside and YUK. I got home and my girls said. Whoa mom were you going for the purple look??????

So I have to take it all back and i feel sick about it. Ih have to keep 50.00 worth. I think I will exchange though for some lipsticks.

My eyes are itchy anyway. Maybe i am allergic? I wish I would have used my head and not my inner little girl while I was there today. OMG I hate returning things. Anyone ever return their MAC purchase?

I have returned many things to MAC, and I''ve never had a problem. Especially if the things aren''t used, I don''t see why it should be a problem. They even took back things that I''ve tried, and didn''t like.

Don't feel bad. They should give you a full refund with no problems whatsoever.

Personally, I'm not a fan of MAC for the exact reasons you wrote - it irritates my skin and and often looks like clown makeup. For a short time period I really wanted to love MAC, but I ended up returning about 75% of what I purchased.

Not that you're likely to have a problem returning anything anyway, but you should just tell them that your skin is reacting negatively to their products (since it is!)

Big ditto! I always look like a street walker when I get my face done at MAC and I break out. I would have no problem returning everything. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown are great counters and great products. Get your refund and go there.

MAC will take them back, no problem.

I love MAC makeup, but you definitely can''t use it if you''re heavy handed with the brushes, that''s for sure!

Oh my gosh , thank you. I feel I am a pretty good judge of make up and how it should look. Be applied ect. so when I got outside and saw myself I was flabbergasted.

Yeah my eyes are really itchy. I washed it all off. FI came home and looked at me before I washed it all off. He said, let me know how you feel about it first. Funny, he hated it too and did not want to hurt my feelings. He kept wondering how they got my eyes to look all slanty. LOL

Tomorrow it is all going back........except for the sheer pink lipstick...the only thing not dark and streetwalker like.

Thanks again everyone. I m feeling a ton better about it all now...

I am a huge MAC fan... especially their studiofix foundation... You just need to buy the right colors for you... Hence you need a proper makeup artist... The ones around here are MAC are always amazing... I am wondering why their hired a dummy to do your makeup! I would try and exchage your stuff for other colors that suit you more. Also, try studiofix foundation and not liquid.

I agree with everything that has been said. I think people either love MAC or hate it-I love it. My sister does my makeup though and she is so talented she could make a man look like a beautiful woman.

Take it back-MAC will take ANYTHING back.

They definitely take returns, I mean I''ve returned things to a Nordstrom MAC counter before successfully.

You shouldn''t have a problem returning... and this is the same reason I don''t go to the MAC counter anymore! My two favorites are Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown, which HudsonHawk mentioned. I adoooore their makeup! Try them!

I've read lots of wedding magazines etc. and they say one of the biggest mistake is brides saying 'I wanted something different for my wedding day' when it comes to their hair and make up.

You don't want to look back at your wedding pictures and think 'that's not me'! I wouldn't go overboard on the make up - after all you want your husband to recognise you
