Just now.

Oh I didn''t want to say anything because I didn''t know if it was going to happen but I swear. It was meant to be.

The night I narrowed it down to the three Paloma''s I had a dream of the ''perfect'' gown. And I knew I had seen it before. SOMEWHERE. And well.. I found it.

In a sample. Right AT budget for me. And it''s BEAUTIFUL. I was measured for the Paloma''s and I''m about 5 lbs off from having this fit me just right. It''s silk white (vanilla) with platinum tuxedo banding.

Having that settled will be SUCH a relief!! And you''ll be able to picture the whole thing a lot better!

Adore the platinum accents -- do you have shoes already? I can totally picture some platinum action in the pump area too

Oh Wow.
That''s an elegant dress!!
I LOVE the waist line! Fantastic choice!! I can''t wait to see it on you!!!

THANKS EVERYONE! I''m so excited. I was really forcing a ''romantic'' flowy look to the gowns I tried on... but they just didn''t feel right. And well... although I haven''t tried the merlot on it is the exact style that looks best on me-- dropped waist a-line with something highlighting the waist, strapless with a slight dip in the neckline. ANd I have tried on Rivini''s gowns before... but they were way out of reach for this wedding so I didn''t even think of them-- even though I love the quality of their gowns.

Some wonderful person responding to my PIC dress thread told me to get a gown that I looked at and thought, "I wouldn''t change a thing" ... and well... this is that gown. I''m normally very tailored in my appearance so this is comfortable for me. Clean lines and all that. And it''s timeless. Can''t wait.

As for details. First thing on my list is a SUPER foundation garment. I have the perfect shoes for the gown already (which I will get dyed to match the platinum accents). So that leaves hair and veil.

I tried on a veil at one store and fell in LURVE with it. It was ''angel cut'' like this one is http://www.veilshop.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=82 ... and this one is only 67 bucks with a fine embroidered edge. (other one was 600).

As for hair and headpieces... I''m not a tiara fan.. but I think I''m going to do something similar to the piece in this pic I have if I can find something like it. it''s on my other computer''s hard drive though so I''ll have to post it later.

Jewelry is my biggest

question though-- can you tell I''m a PSer?? I don''t know what I''d wear with this. I have these STUNNING chandelier earrings that would be lovely. I would want a pendant to match though and I don''t think that''s going to be possible financially (diamonds...lol). Pearls might work.

I''ll probably browse Nordstrom''s costume jewelry section... or borrow my grandmother''s ENORMOUS persian turquoise and diamond pear shapped pendant. And wear it with my ''matching'' ring... and ask for some earrings to be brought over to match for me from Turkey (where my aunt''s husband worked for Lockheed).

My first choice jewlery if money were no object would be this necklace from Tiffany''s. Also not in the budget.

Gypsy, it''s beautiful! Aren''t Rivini gowns perfection? They fit me amazingly well. Did you buy the sample from Glenn and Company?

Congratulations on finding THE DRESS!!!!

! Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!!!!! So elegant and sophisticated!!!

Okay, now that the the dress is a done deal, you can move on to tying up the venue in DC.

I knew you'd hunt it down. Yes. That's my sample. Gonna need some $$ to get it cleanned and fixed a bit... but it's perfect otherwise. Even the mellowed color. This is the other gown I had my eye on... but it's ivory and well... I wanted really light ivory or white.

Hunt it down? Girl, I've had my eye on that site for a while!

I almost kicked myself for not getting there in time for the Jenny Lees! I considered one of the Anne Barge gowns for day or two, but decided it'd be too hot for an outdoor wedding. As for your gown, I've tried it on (with the platinum color) and it is amazingly well made and stunning in person.

ETA: You liked the Sabbia? I love the look of it, but I can't find it anywhere to try it on!

gorgeous! You are going to look lovely.

Love love love it, you''re waisteline is going to look tiny in that dress! That gown is perfection, and soooo timeless. You will love looking at those pictures in 30 years. At budget... great, no guilt! Five pounds to a perfect fit, awesome motivation without too much suffering. I think my favorite part is how the train is sewn in the back, I might steal that picture and do something similar for mine. Congrats again!

Can''t wait to see your pics when you get it.

OOOOOOOOOOH that dress is divine, i love the waistline detail!!!!! just classic! post fitting pictures!!

That''s so exciting!! It looks so gorgeous... I can''t wait to see it on you!

I liked it... it''s like a toned down Reem with the gorgeous detail... I almost bought that one on ebay for the back of the train alone. Yes, I liked it. But it wasn''t ME so much. Very lovely in person...I think the ebay woman will go down on that price BTW-- I asked her to before I saw the Merlot and she''s getting back to me on it tomorrow so if your interested I''ll let you know what she''s willing to come down to. I asked for 1100, but I don''t know if she''ll meet me there or give me a price in the middle.

The Glenn and company ladies were wonderful to talk to. I''m just wondering if I should get it cleanned by their cleaner or wait until it''s closer to my wedding and get it cleaned just before alterations.

Isaku-- I''ve actually made quite a bit of progress on the venue front. I have three strong possibilites and one backup.

#1 I''m concerned about space max capacity is 56. I have 58 on the list. But I can have my ceremony outdoors with a rain site indoors, and five star cuisine in a very ''DC'' unique location. The function rooms are not handicap accessible though so I''m concerned about the grandfather''s getting about.

#2 It''s larger than 1, right in our budget and has no accessibility issues. Ceremony would be indoors however and I have yet to try the food. Service has been fabulous but the catering manager we are working with is leaving for a better position soon. Very unique hotel-- very DC.

#3 Has enough room for the reception, but the ceremony would be tight with people having to stand. Accessibility isn''t as good as 2 but it''s better than 1. They are replacing the windows with stained glass soon though so I''m a bit worried about light. Federal Mansion-- very DC.

Backup. Four Seasons. Ceremony would be indoors and welll... it would be more generic than the others. And the whole deal would cost 1000 more than the other events would. But it''s a strong contender because well.. it''s the Four Seasons.

I know it''s a bit ''different'' but this is the idea I had for my hair ornament. And for my hairstyle... just less frizzy.

Gypsy - I love that dress!! Rivini is one of my fav designers but I could not afford the price tag...

I like that hair idea - are those separate pins all arranged together?

I have no idea... I''ve had that pic forever. Just holding on to it. I think I can get the look by using multiple pieces.... anyone see anything like this though... please let me know.

~~It''s so beautiful!!! I love the waist detail!!!!

Thanks Dani!

Jcrow... what wonderful sites. Um.... I'm thinking of a pink rose in my hair though now. Too much persnickity detail involved in hair pieces... I have no patience. I loved ginger's rose. Maybe that' the ticket. A big fat rose. Yeah. I'm liking it. LOL.

ETA: I have tons of time though. And well... still doubt I'll have the patience to hair piece shop. Not my thing. Pink Rose. Liking that more and more. Really.

That dress is soooo pretty.. I BELIEVE .. if I am remembering correctly.. that way back in the early days of BWW.. when I was still a LIW.. Two PSers had a dress like that. One of them had the exact dress and another one had one just like it from another designer.. "Jolie" maybe.. but I cannot remember for the life of me who those PSers were.. I was jealous of one of their torso''s though. :-D Any help?

Anyway.. where are the pictures of YOU in it?

It''s gonna be a while... they are going to hold onto the gown for me till the end of September (storage issues).... So it''s going to be a couple of months before I''ve got pics. Diet motivation though. LOL.
