I''ve always admired dresses by Claire Pettibone, but wasn''t too keen on the prices. I''ve never really understood why people spend so much on a dress. Boy, was I in for a lesson!
I saw that Claire Pettibone was going to be in town at a Bloomingdale''s wedding event, doing a fashion show...then at a local bridal store the next couple days for a trunk show. I love her dresses so I thought it would be fun to go try them on. But, in the back of my mind, I was thinking, "I could never spend this much...so maybe I can find something on Once Wed or Preowned or somethin''...or even, dare I say, a knockoff."
Content in my thoughts, I went to try on dresses...and fell in LOVE!!!!
Whoops!!! You weren''t supposed to do that! AND, especially NOT with one out of her brand new 2010 collection. NO WAY to find one used!!!!
To top it off, she is customizing it especially for me!!! And, she is doing a sketch for me!!! WOW! I can''t believe I did this, but I am sooooo excited!!!
Here it is...the gold accents are actually much more vibrant and STUNNING in person. The picture makes them look muted. We were playing around the sleeves and she pulled them down and underneath it was so beautiful...floral gold details on silk. So, she is making it for me without the sleeves. And, it has spaghetti straps that she is going to switch out for a more detailed/jeweled strap (that I really liked on another dress).
All I can say is NOW I understand about THE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
