Hey ladies!
My last few posts have been kind of downers, but things are looking UP. Less than a week after my last thread about SO's possible cold feet, I found out he was working with our local jeweler to create my ring! He said to leave it all up to him, and I said sure! However another week down the road and the jeweler comes back with a high price once the first CAD draft is finished, higher than the price of our diamond. SO felt the need to let me know what was going on (I'm glad he did!) and together we worked with the design to get the price into our budget. It took some surprise out of the design but I am glad SO did not go ahead with that original quote. We got it down to less than half. We have a house to buy later you know.
I saw the wax model in person last weekend and guuuuh. It is so delicate and pretty in person. The CADs add considerable bulkiness. My AVC fits so snugly and securely in the setting, and I love that. It is being cast in palladium. (I have nickel allergy). I will show you the profile of the ring. Pardon my add-ons with Paint... there are two small diamonds on each side.
The shank flares slightly towards the diamond, and is also engraved, with a few accent diamonds. My brother told me it looked almost Elven, and being a LotR geek, that made me quite happy.
Here is my AVC for reference:
Sorry for the long-windedness. I am just a little excited. No idea when SO will propose... whether it is two weeks from now or five months from now. Hopefully he doesn't keep me waiting too long!
