Found what seems to be a awesome diamond from GOG. Here are the details:

.94 VS1 I

Table - 56
Depth - 61
Crown Angle - 34
Pavilion Angle - 40.8
Culet - Very small
Girdle - Thin to medium
Florescence - none

I plan to mount this is a dvatche royal crown platinum setting - should I be concerned about the I color???

Ok. Im not a diamond expert like some of these guys on here, but I do have some knowledge. I would be concerned about the color in a platinum setting only because I've seen some I color diamonds set in white gold or platinum rings and compared to a H or G there is a difference. Like I said this is just an opinion and I'm not an expert, but I thought I'd give you a little insight. I hope this helped a little.

If this is the stone you are talking about:

Then I wouldn't be concerned at all. That is going to face up very nicely as it is a great cut. Nice stone!

I just purchased an I SI1 and had it mounted in platinum and I can tell you there is NO noticable color in it. I don't think you will have a problem at all as long as you keep the cut within ideal proportions. My diamond is an unbranded H&A that scores a 1.9 on the HCA. I've seen J's that face up white. You have to understand taht you're only going to be able to notice a difference if the stones are unmounted and face down. Even then they need to be side by side, unless you are an expert, to see teh color. I think SI1, H, I, and J represent great values if you make sure you get a good cut. I had a dealer line up D-J upside down in a white tray and only then could I tell teh difference. If you hold an F next to an I that is mounted I dont think it is very easy to tell the difference. I have never seen a D and an I close though. So unless you are going to be looking at the diamond upside down next to other diamonds you should be fine. The diamond will look very nice in platinum.

Concerned? Not at all! Enjoy the stone.

With a well cut H&A stone the diamond will face up whiter than a typical stone. So your 'I' will be fine in platinum. I have even seen older cut stones set into plat that were 'I' color and you really just notice the sparkle of the stone, which will be even more intense with a modern round brilliant H&A!

Nate just bought 3 J SIs from GOG and loves them...he's very happy with the look in plat.
