Hi All,

I am an incessant lurker who very rarely finds the courage to post...I have no idea why; maybe it has something to do with the fact that I never raised my hand to speak in class!
20.gif
But I enjoy looking at everyone''s dresses so much, I thought maybe you would like to see mine! I didn''t realize I would be so excited about it that I would want to share it with everyone!!!

Anyway, here it is!! (hopefully this will work) I don''t know how to insert more than one in a post, so I''ll be adding a few in a second. All the pics are of the sample -- I ordered the same size, although in a length that should fit me perfectly. It will need to be taken in at the top a bit to keep it up higher and make it smaller, but you get the idea.......

Here''s one with an ivory sash around the waist....

Here''s the back.....

One more of the whole front with the ivory sash....

That is just gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!! You look fantastic! Thanks for sharing your beauuuuutiful dress!!! :) And WELCOME!!

Okay, my favorite part -- the train!! I will be hemming the inner layer so that the train is sheer lace....I love that look (just like MelissaSue!!)

Ignore the pinkish sash -- we tried that first, but I think I like the ivory one better -- either way, I don''t want the sash hanging over the dress -- it will just be sewn on around my waist, like a belt....does that make sense???

Okay, I promise this is the last one! Just a close-up on the train detail. Geez, once I start, I can''t stop!!!

The dress is an "Exclusive" by Allure Bridals....apparently they do not advertise anywhere, which was VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

Welcome Minny! I can relate - it took me forever to post - I lurked for a year before I even became a ''member''.

And your dress is so so so beautiful - I''m glad you wanted to share!! I''m starting to love that look more and more (Melissa is rubbing off on me or something - we are date twins so maybe that has something to do with it?). I think what you will do with the sash will look great - I agree on not wanting it to hang over the dress. You certainly don''t want to obscure or interfere with that beautiful lace & having too many "features" would be a mistake. It will look perfect just sewn to the waist of the dress!!

When''s the date or did I miss that somewhere?

Thanks, HOUMedGal and Teebee!!!

Teebee -- No, you didn''t miss anything -- I don''t think I''ve even posted once since we''ve been engaged!

We are getting married on January 16, 2006 in San Juan, Puerto Rico!!!!

Thanks for your input re: the sash situation. I agree that having it hang down is just TOO MUCH. I would love to hear if others agree or disagree. And what do you think about the color?? Rum pink, another shade of pink, or ivory to match the dress?

Your dress is so pretty, and you look great in it.

I think the sash hanging down takes away from the delicate look of the lace. As far as the color of the sash, I think it would be pretty if it''s champange/light gold color (but I am bias because gold/champange is one of my wedding colors).

welcome minny

i am still new to pricescope, too and can understand your feeling about posting. if i hadn't found out about pricescope just 2 month ago and my wedding wasn't in two weeks, it would probably have been the same for me. ;-) but everyone seems to be so sweet here!

congratulations on your choice of dress. you look very beautiful in it - everything: the cut, the lace, the train, the sash, looks very yummy and good on you. you look so happy and radiant in your dress.

now about the sash - i would think you could do both: leave it as is or shorten it. i like the long flowing lines and wouldn't mind it hanging down along with the train. my only concern would be that sashes (a couple of weeks ago and "pre-ps" this german had no idea such a word even existed) seem to be so modern and popular right now that having anything that is more than just a "belt" as a sash would always date the look. same is true for the colored sashes... all the monique lhuillier dresses seem to have one right now and i LOVE the look (sage green, caramel, pink, chocolate brown, what have you). but again, i am not sure whether i myself would chose anything but ivory as it would be too 2005 for me. if you like both looks - how about wearing one in ivory for the ceremony and a colored one for the reception?

again: stunning dress!

OH WOW!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE your dress. I love the pattern of the lace, its so delicate and pretty.. I love the sash.. I love the way you are altering the train..I ADORE the buttons down the back. FMIL has offered to add buttons to mine.. but I didn't want them.. until I just saw your gown!!

Minny-
So glad you decided to post!!!

Your dress is SO PRETTY on you!!!!!

I love the lace!

I agree the bow is a bit much, it spoils the lace, IMO. I like the idea of just the band around the waist.

And yes, I was looking for an Exclusive gown too a while back - It''s so weird they don''t advertise at all! It''s impossible to get one at a discount, but the dress I tried on wasn''t too bad cost wise anyhow.

Anyway, hope you keep updating us on more details of your wedding and come out of the lurker closet! hehe.

LOVE the trailing lace, gosh where were these cool trailing gowns two years ago when I was shopping! How quickly the styles can change. When I started looking I wanted something simple like a sheath but not tight fitting and with a bit of some detail but nothing too over the top. There was only a handful of styles, and alot of them had no trains and I wanted a very small one. A year later, dresses like the ones I was looking for flooded the market, everyone was into destinations and/or simpler designs but still bridal. Now even more awesome styles are out. Sheesh! Our bad timing.

yeah...so glad you posted...I love your dress...oh the train is absolutely gorgeous!!! you look terrific. Welcome, welcome.

That dress is beautiful, I actually like the sash hanging down! The buttons and lace detail are very nice ! When is the wedding

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your kind words and helpful advice about the sash!!!

qtiekiki -- champagne/light gold would be very pretty!!

kaschmir -- I kind of agree about the sash looking very "2005".....and maybe I would even regret having "color" on my wedding dress....which is why I keep going back to the ivory sash. (Although my friend was married in 2003 and she had a dress made for her to look like that Amsale dress with the big blue sash -- she says she absolutely does not regret it and still adores her dress!!) and I, too, was practically DROOLING when I saw the Monique L''huillier dresses on that stupid Knot TV thing!! They are absolutely beautiful. And of course, like everyone says, fashion changes and that''s the point, right? So we will probably all look dated in some way, but I bet we''ll continue to love our dresses no matter what!

MelissaSue -- Hahahaha I knew you would like this dress!!! I LOVE yours too, and think you look stunning in it!! Your comments about the buttons cracked me up, because as of right now, my dress doesn''t have any buttons!! I can see why you thought that, though -- the back of the sample dress is kind of messed up by the zipper, and it looks a little like buttons. HOWEVER, I was toying with the idea of adding buttons, because I love that look too!! So since you brought it up, how would that work? It''s really just a plain zipper up the middle of the back -- and the sash is completely separate right now -- so if I wanted to somehow attach the sash, would I have it made so that it attaches after the dress is zippered? And then the buttons would go up underneath the sash?? Would that look okay? Or could I have the sash sewn into the dress, but stop at the sides of the zipper, and have the buttons go right in between? Does anyone know what I am talking about???
33.gif
I am not at all creative or crafty about these things......how did your FMIL say she would add buttons? Would they be real buttons, or fake ones?

Flopkins -- Thanks for your thoughts, and yes, how annoying that this Exclusive line cannot be found anywhere on the internet! But the price wasn''t too bad, I agree. And now that I have photos of me in the dress, I guess I don''t need to see it on a model!
2.gif

Mara -- I agree, the styles change soo quickly! I have always loved a little bit of a lacy look, and once I saw the sheer lace trains, I was sold on that style! But I love your dress too, just the way it was. I just saw a photo of it on PS the other day, and I love the neckline so much -- kind of wish my dress had one like that, as well as straps. You looked beautiful in it. I''m actually shocked I ever made a decision, because there are so many gorgeous dresses out there -- when I saw a photo of GingerBCookie''s dress, I thought "Hmm....maybe I should have gone with something more like that....." -- which is crazy, because the style is waaaay different than what I was looking for!!
33.gif

rms -- Thanks for the welcome, and the compliments!!

Hi Jessesgirl, thanks for your comments! Read my reply to MelissaSue re: the buttons.

The wedding is January 16, 2006.

Welcome Minny!
I LOVE your dress! You look so happy in it!
I''m glad that you were bold enough to post. I can''t get enough of everyone''s dresses!
Mine''s not supposed to come in until January!

Wow, that is beautiful! It looks wonderful on you! And don''t worry about the number of pics you post...we love them

Its sooo pretty!

Your dress is just gorgeous!!! I am so glad you posted it... you look stunning in it! I have to agree with you that the train is the best part. Simply beautiful!

Oh wow that lace is so pretty! You look great!

REEEEEALLY.. no buttons on there now? Crazy.. well it was late last night when I posted and I just gotten home from a LOOON night at work.. I guess with fresher eyes I can see that there are not actually adding them. I think that if you are sewing the sash on I'd probably just sew on buttons down to the sash and stop them there. you could make it look like the buttons went under the sash.. I don't know if it would look odd or not if you are sewing the sash on, it might not look smooth. Although.. You will have to talk to a seamstress about sewing the sash on anyway, because you may have to have it open at the zipper anyway, if it is up higher than the zipper goes down.. do you know what I mean?
If FMIL added them for me, they'd definitely be fake buttons.

Edit-I just looked at your pic again, and I think my first idea of having the buttons only go down to the sash is silly.. So..I don't know what you should do whether you'd have to make them go under or between... or what.. I'm not any help! :)

Wow, your dress is just gorgeous! I love the lace on the train & the sash is quite pretty. I think it''d be nice in either a champagne/pink or ivory, but if you''re worried about the color looking dated, you could get it in ivory. Re: the sash trailing down, just make sure it''s put away somehow when it comes time to dance so you don''t trip on it. How will you bustle the train?

I''d love to hear more about your wedding in Puerto Rico! It sounds divine! I''m considering a destination wedding myself so I''m trying to find out as much as possible....

Hi Minny! Welcome aboard!!

I absolutely love your dress and it looks amazing on you. The lace train is just fabulous and I think you can wear the sash either way. You will look gorgeous no matter what you decide!! Keep us posted!
36.gif

"I don''t know why this is so scary for me!"

I don''t either! You look great! The dress is beautiful- and in my opinion could be worn with or without the sash. I think sticking to ivory or champagne would be good though. You don''t want to take away from the lovely lace!

And on that note, I want to hear about Puerto Rico too!!!
36.gif

I saw buttons too...whoops!!! The dress is beautiful, buttons or not.

YOur dress is so pretty! I love the lace and sash look (as you can tell if you check out my original dress thread -- lace and sashes galore!) I too am partial to champagne since its one of my wedding colors, but I agree with colors dating you too much. I really like the ivory sash, it doesn''t take attn away or overwhelm the delicate lace on your dress. I also tend to be partial to flowing sashes, but with your train, I agree, it might detract from the delicate, floaty look of your train. i love lovelovelovelove lace trains! lol..that was the biggest decision i had to make, to go with lace or not, and honestly i never made the decision, i jumped back and forth through the whole process! congrats on your dress...it looks fabolous on you!

Welcome!! And WOW, that is a gorgeous dress!!! LOVE it!!

Thank you all so much for your replies!! They make me even more excited about this dress.

Now I get the feeling I HAVE to add buttons somehow!! When it comes in, I will talk with a seamstress about options, and about how to best attach the sash, etc.....if anyone has any brilliant ideas about this, feel free to let me know!

Some people asked about the wedding....well, as of right now, I know it will take place on January 16, 2006, in the evening, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. And that''s about ALL THE PLANS WE HAVE SO FAR!!
6.gif
Now don''t panic.......we are working with a wedding planner in San Juan who is working on the details.....the wedding is on a Monday, so we shouldn''t have to compete for a place, and we are deciding b/t a few options that she is emailing us about. The ceremony will probably be outside, around sunset, on a boardwalk or terrace overlooking the ocean or something like that, and the reception will be held indoors near/at the ceremony location. So it won''t be a real "beach wedding" b/c I have this thing about getting married with sand between my toes!! I know for some it''s incredibly romantic, but for me it just feels icky!!
25.gif
I''m hoping we can find a place with some interesting Spanish architecture or interesting details....or at the very least, an incredible view. The reception will be shorter than most, with a seated dinner and the traditional dances, but not too much fanfare. Should be about 50 people attending, it looks like. After the wedding, we will be joining our guests on a 7-night Caribbean cruise, which leaves from Miami two nights before the wedding! This way, the party never really ends!
1.gif
(In other words -- San Juan is the first port on this cruise. Guests will get off the ship, attend the wedding, and then we will get back on with them. My FI and I have to get to San Juan a few days before the wedding to get the marriage license, b/c we are getting married on a federal holiday and the offices will be closed that day....otherwise we would be on the cruise when it departs....I know it sounds a little convoluted...don''t ask how this happened.....I think it might be better this way anyway -- it will give us a chance to explore San Juan and get to know the place a little more...feel more settled.)

Anyway, if you could follow any of that, those are the plans for now! I''m getting a teensy bit freaked out that we still don''t have a location, but I think we should have that figured out any day now. The rest of it (flowers, photographer, cake) is going to be taken care of by the wedding planner, with as much or as little input from me as I would like.
