Hello,

I have read a couple of post regarding the MS Dora dress. I absolutely LOVE this dress. I am going this Sunday to try on dress, and I think this is the first one I am going to try on. I am so scared though, every picture I have seen of someone wearing the dress has a girl with a small chest. I have a big chest, 36DD big. I really hope it fits me, or looks decent on me. I mean I am open to other dress but I really fell I love with this dress when I saw it on eBay. A girl was selling it and she had the link to her wedding pictures in the post, she looked beautiful and the dress, ah it took my breath away. Does anyone know what the biggest size the dress comes in is?

Hi!! I thought I would answer since I''m wearing the Dora :)

I''m a 34D and, obviously, I liked the way it fit me. But, it really doesn''t have much support up there and a bustier would show. You might be able to have the sweetheard stitched together a little so that you could wear a bustier.

I found a link to a larger-chested girl wearing the dress, just for comparison purposes: http://www.xanga.com/bridetobe_niki

As for sizing, I think it should say what size it goes up to on the Melissa Sweet website.

Good luck, and take pictures to post!!!

Hi,

So I clicked on the link and saw the pics. She looks great it in, then again I have not seen one bride with the dress on that looks bad in it. I LOVE this dress so much. I am going to Pronovias tomorrow, you know to give myself more options but I really have my heart set on the Dora. I still have time to drop some weight since my wedding is in 8/2009. I will definitely take some pictures, I am so excited I can not wait.

Thanks,

oooh take pics at the new Pronovias store!!! i moved out of NYC in December and I sooo wish it had been open when i was still there!!! i do love my Dora, but i would have loved to try on some pronovias too.

where have you tried on the Dora? CrownJewel and I both got ours at the Wedding Atelier.

Another Dora bride here!

I''ve tried Dora in a size 12. They can also make it to your measurements. One Melissa Sweet bride on PS also told me she had the bridal salon make a muslin for her, and then Melissa Sweet made the dress according to the muslin.

I''m having it made to my measurements (hollow to hem) b/c I''m 5''0" and a street size 0, so I was worried I would lose the shape and proportions of the dress if I got a standard size. Good luck, I hope you love Dora as much as the rest of us on PS!

By the way, OMG my FI and I just registered for some items from the Kate Spade larabee line. I saw some of the crystal and china in person and fell in love with the polka dots. I have to keep myself in check, otherwise I''ll look back on my wedding and think, "why did I get so much stuff with polka dots?!!!"

oh dear. that picture did NOT work.

LOL, Really. That is exactly were i am going on Sunday to try it on. I have never tried it on before. This is actually the first time i am trying on wedding dresses period. That''s why i am so excited. I mean it''s like you get the ring and you are exciting to start the planning. And you look for dresses and all that good stuff. But when you try on the dresses i am assuming that, that''s when it feels like it''s really happening. I am getting married in the Dominican Republic, and i even went meet my wedding planner and chose my Venue, but still have yet to try on a dress. I attached a picture of my venue.

So, i have a couple of questions regarding the store. How much of a deposit has to be put down for the dress? How long does it take to get in? How much for the alterations?

Thanks for all your help!

I paid for mine in one shot. But I think you can also put down 50% as a deposit. I don''t remember. I was told alterations are a flat fee of $385 (I think...I can''t remember the fee exactly). I can go look it up.

I ordered mine early in December 2007. It is supposed to arrive in June 2008.

Do you know the name of the consultant you are meeting? Have fun!!!! You''ll love dress shopping. I wasn''t all that excited about dress shopping when I started, but the first place I went to was Priscilla of Boston and I had such a blast.

Ok, That makes me feel better. I also liked the Vineyard STYLE PIPER, my cousin said she likes the piper better. But my heart is set on the Dora. I really like the polka dot crystal, but don''t go polka dot crazy. LOL

NYCBride2Be- I know this is a little off subject but I really like your signature! "Soon to be Mrs. Santiago" Very cute!

LOL,

Thanks!!!!!!!! Looking at your avatar and your signature, i get it. That''s is very cute, i love Tiffany''s to but some stuff is out of my budget!

Wow I love that dress!

I am a bit jealous I have to say, although I don''t think it would be flattering one me. So I must stop the dress envy, ahh my dress needs to come soon so I don''t forget about it.

Hi,

I love the Dora dress so much! It was one of my absolute favorite dresses, and despite me willing and wishing it to work, it just didn''t work that well on my body. I think it is so beautiful though and looks awesome on CJ and Kara, so hopefully you will have similar luck!

If you want to see pictures of someone who does NOT do the dress justice (haha!), you can look at my pics. I am definitely busty on top and just found that it didn''t work that well on me (but maybe because I didn''t have on a bra!) I hope the pics are helpful, and I''m confident that you are going to have great lucky with the Dora!! Good luck!

PS - Just to think about, what about that other swiss dot dress that another bride recently posted? I think it''s by San Patrick and it''s gorgeous too! Good luck!

I know, I''m so sorry gals! I''ve been working on a paper...yuck, but it''s done now :)

I did see those pics of shimmer in the san patrick dress and it''s just gorgeous! I wish I had seen it when I was looking!

I am still so envious of you Dora girls...I still swoon when I look at it :)

I thought I was in love with the Dora before I tried it on, too, so I completely understand your Dora lust. I fell in love with it when I saw Jas12''s pictures here on PS, they''re amazing.

BUT, don''t let your love for the Dora in pictures cloud your judgment when you try it on! I was so set on loving the Dora that it took a day or so for me to realize that it just wasn''t the dress for me. I ended up falling head over heels for the Mila, which really is the perfect dress for me. PERFECT.

I did, however, spend a day or so agonizing over the Dora here on PS, if you follow the links in my thread I think it will lead to a thread with pictures of me in the Dora and other dresses that just weren''t right.

Melissa Sweet gowns are so well made that you''ll look good in all of them, really, you will. But trust me, when you find the right dress you''ll just know it. And don''t be disappointed if it''s not the Dora.

To answer your questions about cost--I put down a deposit of half of the cost of the dress before the store discount, they told me it would take 4ish months to get in, and the alterations will cost $275, I believe.

Haven, I am so right there with you! This was my experience, too! But I LOVE Mila and it''s gorgeous on you! And I love Lia (my dress), so it all works out in the end.

I must say I just love all of the Melissa Sweet love on this board!

I really loved the Lia, FMPD! My best friend was lobbying big time for me to get that one, but the minute I put on the Mila I was done for. I loved the Gillian (Jillian?) too, but the Mila won out in the end.

I should say that after almost ending up in a David''s Bridal dress, there is no comparison. MS gowns are SO incredibly well-made, that she makes it really difficult to choose just one! I thought I looked horrendous in every dress but one at DB, and was sort of dreading going dress shopping again when I decided to try on MS gowns. Lo and behold--every single MS dress looked incredible. Every.single.one. The quality comes with a price, but for me it was completely worth it.

You are going to look stunning in your Lia, FMPD, I can''t wait to see pictures!

I couldn''t agree more about the MS dresses. I ended up going with the Jillian style dress, but before spending $$ I went and tried on at Davids. If I would have never tried on the MS dress I would have been very happy with a Davids dress. I hope the Dora works out well for you. By the way the POB vineyard collection has some really nice styles as well if you need some alternatives.

So, i am going today after work to the new Pronovias store on 52nd street! i am very excited can''t wait. I am so nervous though, i don''t know why? I love the Vinyard collection also, i must say i think i love the whole PoB collection.

I will take pictures of the new Pronovias store, and hopfully i will have some decent pictures of myself trying on dressses.
