The wait to see my ring done is killing me and I''m hoping by sharing my anticipation it will be lessened.

The boy and i started talking about getting engaged seriously 2 years ago, but for financial reasons I knew it wouldnt happen in 2004. New years eve last year he promised that even if he didnt get the money together (which the way our lives have gone was entirely possible) there would be a proposal. He hated the idea because as a man he wanted to "do things right" and he knew i had my eye on a Tacori setting.

I started stalking diamonds that january and ended up fixating on one in april. I sent the link to the boy and unknown to me he bought it. and then... clutch goes out on the car, cant buy the setting. But he wants to make sure I can look at the stone before the return period is up and once i had it in my hands i wasnt giving it back. So as a graduation present he bought me a temp setting so i can visit with my diamond while i wait for the final setting.

We went to order the setting the first week of november. Thought this would give plenty of time to make an end of the year deadline. Came in completely jacked up, and things I had made sure they specifically wrote down that i didnt want. I was furious. I found out a few days ago that my ring has been made wrong a SECOND time, even with stupidly explicit directions for Tacori. So they promised no more than 3 weeks. We''ll see what happens. But in the mean time to cheer myself up I spent all day friday taking pictures of my "unengagement ring" as I call it and although I was gonna wait until my ring was "official" I just cant wait any longer.

Congratulations on almost being engaged. Many people have had problems with Tacori. Questions of their quality control have come up on this board before. I also had a custom head put on my Tacori (the oringinal design called for a RB not an EC). The head came out fine but I had a small issue with my setting but my jeweler fixed it and now it is as good as new. Overall many people have had issues with many different designers. The important thing is that you love your ring. I have no doubt that Tacori will come through in the end and your ring will be better than you expected. Their designs are so beautiful and you will no believe how many compliments are going to come your way! I cannot wait to see your finished ring.
By the way that is some fancy temp setting. What are you going to do with the empty mounting? A blue sapphire would look GREAT in it **hint hint**

It sounds like your wait is ALMOST over!! So congratulations on that!! I hope that Tacori gets it right this time so that beautiful diamond has a permanent home. I can''t wait to see the final product!!!

I''m glad I can come here and share my excitment about this LONG process (I met SO 9 years ago and we''ve been together 7) finally coming to a head. The boy is getting a little annoyed by me asking everyday if my ring is ready yet. I started reading pricescope in the summer of 2003, and I remember the start of the ladies in waiting thread when it was in the show me the ring folder, but I didn''t want to post because then there would be concrete physical evidence of how long I had been waiting

and that was a scary thing.

Tacori- I love your setting. I have still never seen it in a Tacori display or catalogue, it''s so unique. I obviously needed to change the head too, and the first ring came back with the 3-split fishtail style prongs. Pretty, but not what I asked for. I knew there was a good chance the ring would come in wrong because for some reason the Tacori catalogue showed 2 different rings for the same SKU

Very similar, but with different detailing. I made sure the jeweler knew which one I wanted and she said she would comfirm with Tacori when it was ordered, I dont know where the lines of communication failed but the wrong one came in. I have no doubt it will be perfect in the end, I''ve made it almost 7 years, whats 3 more weeks...

As for the temp setting, I originally wanted something orange since it was the only colour I dont have in my ring box so my boyfriend bought a spessartite garnet, a hessonite garnet and a fire opal for me to choose from. He also bought a small square emerald shaped emerald that I think I''m leaning towards, especially since he bought me a ring with peachy orange sapphires for christmas. I already have 2 blue sapphire rings so I''m trying to aim for some variety

Wow, your final ring is going to be gorgeous! (actually, your temp ring is gorgeous, but how fun to get 2 rings for one!) I''ll bet either one of the garnets or the emerald will look stunning in your temp setting once you get your Tacori e-ring on your finger!

I''ve heard several stories of problems with Tacori settings on this board. The final product is always beautiful, but sometimes it takes a few tries to get there.

Thanks for the comments BrightSpot. I told my boyfriend that he should pick which stone to replace the diamond in the temp setting since I picked everything out for the engagement ring, I''m not sure he''s buying the idea though.

I''ve got my ring and my GRE scores coming in the next week or two and I am just freaking out.

In order to tempt some more people to share in my ever growing anticipation here is a picture of the consolation prize my boyfriend gave me when we found out the ring was wrong the first time. A diamond bracelet, about 1.4 ct (had it lengthened and wasn''t given an exact weight), G-H, VS stones. I had been wanting a thin bracelet for a few years and he found the perfect one
