I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

So all day I waited for this delivery and at 4:24 the tracking changed to:

“We could not access the delivery location to deliver your package at 4:24 pm on August 9, 2023”

Oh hell no on that, I have been here all day, this is priority mail express one day, ironic thing is it is not expensive, but I hate having anything in the mail longer then necessary. So I call the post office and she tells me that the carrier is on the other side of town and will be here in 40 minutes.

Apparently “can’t access the delivery location“ is code for the carrier just doesn’t want to deliver it. :eh:

So frustrating! Ours does that for roadwork and things. "Held for customer pickup" is the usual for don't feel like it and "attempted delivery" is loaded on the wrong truck, too much other stuff so didn't load it at all, ran out of time, didn't see it back there, are short staffed, or any other reason they think of. And that is why I am driving to Oregon to pick up an order next week rather than having it shipped

My heart is breaking for Maui.
It is our "special" place.
We have many happy memories of time spent in Lahaina.

You've cracked the code @TooPatient ! I hate it when they outright lie...like attempted to deliver and you've been home all day
so you know its not true. So frustrating!

The lady at the counter told me when I picked up packages that had been "held at customer request" one day. I couldn't believe it! Okay, so I did do package delivery at a big company for awhile so I get metrics and all of the things that count against them as fulfilling contracts and stuff. I get it but that doesn't excuse the lies.

FedEx has been leaving my priority overnight prescription meds that require signature sitting in the grass next to the garage.

UPS home, ground, and 3 day (maybe 2 day?) go through a contract company that almost makes the post office look good.
UPS overnight (maybe 2 day?) usually makes it okay, but depends on which driver is working.

So.... I do try to pick stuff up rather than relying on delivery. How far I drive depends on how critical, irreplaceable, whatever. Getting ready to drive 5+ hours each way next week.

He made it through and has moved out to the big flock of hens along with the other rooster. Can't wait for his beautiful tail to come back! The shimmery green was looking beautiful.

HI:

I love this SO much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tears!!!!!

See how I saved $150! Haha!
The chimes are really not that loud. It's only been a few days, and already I'm no longer noticing them. Except at the top of the hour, when it chimes are longer.

I have a Howard Miller grandfather clock that I have had for years. I have had it serviced twice and it is not working again! The long black things keep hitting the pendulum and stop the clock. This happened during the pandemic and I didn’t even try to get someone in to look at it. However, clock repair folks are hard to find - wish you were in my neck of the woods - I would be happy to pay you! I love the sound of the chimes but you do get used to them and stop paying as much notice to them. I need to put forth more effort to find someone to fix it!

He is SO much better today! I was afraid we were going to lose him for awhile and was sure this morning it would be a month or more of indoor rooster life for him. Definitely still weak and more to recover, but he was actually able to walk some today and eat & drink on his own. He was mid molt and now damaged his gorgeous tail, but he is a handsome guy!

He is beautiful! So glad he is feeling better!

The long black things are the chimes.
The pendulum hangs by a small metal hook. Perhaps the hook connection is bent a tiny bit towards the back of the clock, causing the pendulum to come in contact with the chimes. It might be an easy fix.
You can remove the back of the case and see if this is the problem.

I will look and see! I had a man scheduled to come that had worked on the clock previously. It was March 2020 and he cancelled. I tried to contact him a few more times and got no response. I guess he wasn’t interested as he had previously said he was winding down his business. Thanks for the tip!

“I Worried,” 2010

“I worried a lot. Will the garden grow, will the rivers flow in the right direction, will the earth turn as it was taught, and if not, how shall I correct it?
Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven, can I do better?
Will I ever be able to sing, even the sparrows can do it and I am, well, hopeless.
Is my eyesight fading or am I just imagining it, am I going to get rheumatism, lockjaw, dementia?
Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing.
And gave it up. And took my old body and went out into the morning, and sang.”

While sitting in the vet's office for 7 hours today, I talked with a number of people. One of them was a remarkable example of a wonderful human. This person sat in the emergency vet for some 6 hours last night to figure out what was wrong with their kitty. Then couldn't afford the overnight stay waiting for the ultrasound technician so took kitty home. Scraped up a bit of money from friends to help pay then stopped to sell their blood plasma on the way in to pay for the ultrasound. When last I saw, they were being instructed on how to syringe feed and get some meds in. I so very much hope the kitty is okay! We talked for hours sharing pictures and stories of past and present furries.

My heart hurts. Hard decisions being made. The ultimate decision will be either today or tomorrow. Some slim possibility of a bit more comfortable time, but not likely.

My fluffy kitty is hanging in there and comfortable. His strength is continuing to improve, drinking water, went pee, ate just a little bit, shinier fur. The last two nights have both had time I was pretty sure he would drift to sleep and not wake up. Hoping he eats a bit better today. If he does, he might have a short bit left with us.

Already knew about heart and kidney issues. First all day at the emergency vet found liver value issues, arthritis starting, and hyperthyroidism. Back the next day when issue was still there. Mass discovered in liver plus a high fever. Can't tell without ultrasound followed by needle aspirated biopsy is it is a tumor or an infection. The Dr went over both possibilities with me and given his health issues and age, he said treatment options for either really aren't an option for him. I agreed. We went with an antibiotic injection to see if it would help him feel better enough to be comfortable. I scheduled an at home vet to come out the next day in case he hadn't drastically improved. He did! So now we wait and see. Vet said that one possibility would be perking up for a couple of days then crashing hard again. We're just taking it as it all comes.

So cool! I didn’t listen to the video but the text cracked me up.

“…it was a ring made in 1915 from platinum and a transitional cut diamond with nearly full clarity.”
