My fiance and I went into a restaurant in Decemeber to see about having our RD there. We tasted the food and thought it was great so we felt like we were comfortable with having it there. The owner said that he would be in touch very soon regarding a tasting. He wanted us to come back and taste the food on him. It would the actual dishes that are served for big parties such as RDs. He also said at that time we would sign a contract. He mentioned that he had someone come in to inquire about that day but since they hadn''t left a deposit he would make a courtesy call to them to see if they were still interested. He said that is his policy. When he called the other person they said they were not interested and that the day was definitely mine.

Well about 6 weeks had passed and I hadn''t heard from him. So I gave him a call and left several messages(about 6 or 7). He finally called back and told me not to worry that the date was mine. I told him that my MIL had been asking me about what was going on because she wanted something in writing so that she could leave a deposit. He said he would put a contract in the mail to me yet he still hadn''t mentioned a tasting. When I asked about it he said he would still invite us but he hadn''t gotten the chance. He really made me feel like I was crazy for worrying. However, since he said he would be in touch and he hadn''t called that was why I was calling kinda worried.

So I still hadn''t received anything in the mail. I started calling him again about 2 weeks ago. He finally called me back on Tuesday. I called him back and he didn''t answer but I did speak with him two days later on Thursday. He said he would e-mail me the contract. I received the email yesterday morning and it said that my RD would be in the main dining room and not the private room. So I called him immediately but of course he wasn''t at the restaurant. So I emailed him back and asked why the location was changed since that wasn''t what we had discussed. He said that when he didn''t hear back from me after mailing the contract he gave the room up.

So now I don''t have a location for my RD. Ever since going there I have told so many people about the great food and have sent him alot of business. I just can''t believe this has happened. I have made numerous efforts to contact just to avoid something like this and it happened anyway. So annoyed!!

Oh Class, that does sound super frustrating. OK, so is the main room too big or why on earth would he put you there? Could you do it on the night before? Could it be a luncheon instead? So sorry, just take some time to be annoyed and of course feel free to vent. Not sure why I''m throwing out ideas here when that is what gets me the most upset when I''m frustrated, someone trying to be helpful...sometimes you just want to vent and not problem-solve. Do keep us updated and good luck!

What bad business on his part!

that''s so annoying! I would definitely complain and see is there anything that they can do for you. That''s really frustrating.

I''d do the same thing. It might be worth mentioning that you''ve suggested that others (friends, family, etc.) check it out. if your recommendations gave him more business than he might have had otherwise, he might be able to do something to return the "favor."
