I Need a Valuation Please - thinking i've been Conned!

I think conned is too strong a term, the seller disclosed what the ring was, and you bought at that price. You can argue whether it is overpriced for that value, but I think of conned being where there is misrepresentation in the exchange.

As long as your wife-to-be would be willing to wait I would do over, similar design, better quality especially in the center stone. Sometimes perhaps your future fiance is worried that there will be additional indecisions and delay the engagement but it doesn't have to be.

good luck!

I agree with others in saying that you've payed too much for what you got, however I will dissent in saying that you should automatically send it back. If you've explained to your lady why you want to send it back (to get her something better) and she still won't relent I would just let it die. IMHO harmony in your home is more important than any diamond. It would nag me too, but take solace in the fact that you did the best you could at the time with the knowledge you had.

(That said, if you CAN convince her to send the thing back then by all means do so. Maybe show her pictures of all the rings she COULD have if you sent it back.)
