Hi all! My FH and I will be getting married in December as some of you know we originally had planned for a fall wedding in OCT. but due too our venues not having the date we wanted we had to change it grrrr. I''m really struggling with how to decorate our venue without it looking too x-mas like were also getting married in SUNNY San Diego so fake snow and snowflakes are out..... Were allowed to have candles as long as there protected, floating candles are fine, My decor budget is $500 were going to use white x-mas lights around the venue (already have lots of these!)for that romantic feel. I was thinking maybe those crystal tree centerpieces there pretty the light dances of them but I just don''t know at least there easy to make! I have to stay under 15.00 a centerpiece. I would love to do floral centerpieces but our budget wont allow it. Any ideas are appreciated, Our wedding colors are light blue slate blue or blue platinum, white, and yellow.

I personally think that the icey blues, platinum, silver, etc. as you already have will look plenty wintery.

I don't think you really need to have special winter decorations otherwise esp. in San Diego where the climate is roughly the same all year right?

For centerpieces candles and maybe cool vases or bowls filled with blue and silver marbles would be pretty cool.

Hmmm...

How about white roses ina small vase with candles all around it?. Roses are usually pretty cheap, and you can get cheap acrylic vases or even a plastic vase and spary paint it or warp it using some sort of fabric or ribbno?. Not sure how to incorporate the blue though...

Sorry, I''m not much help

I like the idea of a deep red colour. Just don''t pair it with green! Winter is an odd season since I don''t really live in a Winter-like climate. We get rain & a little cold wind.

I really like having branches on the tables instead of flowers.

Just to clarify... you want NON winter decorations, don''t want it to look Christmasy, and the ceremony''s in San Diego? You can do whatever the heck you want! Single flower in a tall vase filled with water... candle clusters... grass boxes...

Any particular reason you are thinking crystal trees when you DON''T want it to look wintery or christmasy??

oh, don''t pay attention to the colors I''m posting..

I''m just posting ideas, you would have to change them to fit your colors! :)

i really love your crystal branch idea. i don't think it'd be that hard to pull off. i'm sure you could fine chandelier prism online. how many centerpeices do you need?

My dress has a light blue sash and I would love to do red roses but it being a semi formal wedding I think the reds would definetly clash

thank you for the pics Mandarine the calla lilies look great! Do they have white callas in winter time...???

I guess my whole Idea is for the wedding to look wintry but not so wintry it should be snowing but not x-mas like at either... this is so hard fall had so many color choices.....

..

here is a cute example of wrapped vases, which will allow you to get super cheap vases!

No, I wasn''t implying you use red, but you can do something like that, with white petals, a big candle in the middle and maybe some marbles?

I personally love the branches, and if they don''t have callas maybe there is another type of flower that you can just use 2-3 per table?

I think we have about 55- 75 people comming and 6-8 people per table lets see thats.... 6-10 round tables or 8 rectangle tables, luciky I live in Wa and theres plenty of fallen tree branches I could use for free here.. :) Maybe I could incorporate the tree and white roses hmmmmmm

Ok so I just found these vases and If I had photo shop on this computer I would show you my Idea but i''ll do the best I can explaining it...

vase

OK here goes twig tree with crystals Ill possibly spray paint some of the twigs silver, blue marbles in the bottom and white roses around the top of the vase.. hmmm it looks good In my head but i dunno haha im way too indecisive.

I would go with a taller vase, but I think you are on the right track with that idea

Thanks So_Happy!
Does anyone know of any bios or weddings with these colors?

I couldn''t find any bios with those colors, but I''m sure there is one somewhere.

From the ones I posted, there is blue or white bios....but if you look in there, they have some pictures that do have the all three colors.

ah ha! this is exactly like what I was thinking!

only difference is it needs crystals and blue marbels and roses but thats the look and i would have more branch like twigs but thats is thanks again Jcrow yay!

teehee. i was wondering which you were referring too, and i thought it may be that one! glad to help. weren''t her wedding details really great?

omg what an awesome bio I love the birds were haveing a bird theme too but ours is rubber ducks I know weird but theres a reason lol were also doing candy at ours too but we will have blue and yellow m&ms I like how much info she supplied it was very helpful.

Presents. Boxes wrapped in blue, silver etc paper with lovely bows (you can find a ton at great deals in DEC/FEB) stacked on top of one another. Taped to hold them together as centerpieces. They'd look fabulous on the table. Would be super cheap that time of year to find present boxes of all different shapes and sizes.
And a present decorated cake.

And your favors could be present shaped chocolates or something.

And BOWS everywhere.

Plus... chandelier garlands and icicle ornaments to decorate everything. Clear balls in bowls on tables for cocktail centerpieces.

Cheap. LOVELY. Still in spirit of the season (winter) but not CHRISTMASY. You can get CHEAP white with clear glitter snowflakes at JoAnns and do garlands of those with the christmas lights.

I think if you do anything with all white/cream with accents of either gold or silver, it will look very wintery. Some glittery accents, like the chandelier prisms jcrow linked, or branches dusted with glitter, could also look very wintery and lovely. If you stay with a all white/cream base, you can add inexpensive accents like tons of votives and candles, some simple flowers like Mandarine has shown, and it''s very wintery but still light in feeling. Where in SD is your venue?
