I posted over in Hangout in the ''jewellery desires'' thread about my longing for a tiara.

Anyway, I found this man in London who does tiaras for the Royal family and for the Victoria and Albert Museum. He has a stock line and also does bespoke.

Some are in Rose Cut diamonds and then he also does copies.

I am in love

I''m thinking of making an appointment to go and see him. They''re not cheap, but they are all handmade and beautiful.

Am I totally mad

This one is about $9k in diamonds...

Wow, those are gorgeous. The craftsmanship is outstanding. If the one you love isn''t going to break the bank, why not get one? It''d be a lovely reminder of your wedding day. :)

You know if you get one you can always wear it around the house after the wedding

that''s what I would do

I would so wear it round the house!

I go to the odd party here in London for work every year that I could possibly wear one too - it would be a good wardrobe investment right?

I'm also thinking that they are nice enough to keep as an heirloom piece to hand down, and for my sister etc to wear for her wedding if she wanted. I love the boxes - I'm such a sucker for nice packaging!

I'm soooo tempted. Talk me into it girls!

They would make an EXCELLENT heirloom piece, IMO. Not only could you hand it down to your sister, but also children, nieces, grandkids...those tiaras are truly timeless.

Didn''t notice the boxes the first time through the site, but you''re right, those are super cool!

I just envy the fact that you attend occasions that warrant a bit of tiara wearing! I say if it''s your dream, go for it!

Whoa, I love those briolettes on the second one!

Think of it this way, if you wear it for your wedding, then to at least one party a year for a decade, then that''s like what? 1-2k a year, which you could potentially spend on party-associated jewelry anyway. You''d really be saving money...

If you get that, we have to have gobs of pics.

And I personally volunteer to model if need be.

Tiaras are still acceptable for formal occasions...I am sure you could MAKE formal occasions to wear it...

Believe it or not - the second one is $800.

I believe his copies are sterling silver set with very good crystal.

Obviously I would love a real diamond one, but the insurance would be a killer!

Pandora, they are gorgeous! Go for it!

We wear ours around the office occasionally. We all got one when we got married, so we figured we should get the use out of them. We have a designated tiara day once in a while.

There is a company in the UK that rents out amazing diamond tiaras. I mean 50+ct creations. Some of them are Georgian. If I you decide not to splurge (although I really think you ought to!) I''ll have a look and see if I can find the details.

Pandora I absolutely insist you have one darling. You and I both know that you are worth it. I would be very disappointed if you didn''t get one!

Can I borrow it if you do?

Some tiaras break off into some combination of necklace, brooch, bracelet. Then you can wear it more occasions than one and justify the purchase.

They really are gorgeous though!
