You won''t have a problem bonding, I actually had one of my babies at 6 months old and I bonded as easily with him as I did with my other kittahs, some of whom were 2 month old kittens when I brought them home.
Aw I''m so glad to hear it! How many cats do you have now? I so want another one...I want to give Kipling a playmate. I''m trying to bide my time though and give BF time to fall in love with Kipling before I broach the subject

* cough...* 8 cats, 7 indoors....

The outside cat is a feral tomcat I have tamed who now lives here with us.
Haha I bet they''re adorable! Yeah, I think BF will draw the line at 2 max
3.gif
But I plan to mix in a couple dogs eventually too

They are adorable - I LOVE your new avatar!!!

Ditto!! In another thread, I noticed you changed your avatar! So cute that he''s your avatar photo already!!!

Yay!!! I am thrilled you are getting him!! What a precious little baby he is! I''m not sure I will be any use with technical cat stuff but I will enjoy sharing experiences as we go!!
36.gif
And I''m sure we''ll have some great stories! I''ve definitely heard of Bengal antics of getting into everything and anything

Yay! I''m so glad you''re going with the little boy. Our girl is the sweetest thing ever - we got her at the age of 8, after her ''showbiz'' career (she was in a cat food advert on TV, amongst other things!), and we had no problem bonding at all. It helped that she had always been looked after really well by her previous owner (a very responsible Bengal breeder), so she thinks all people are awesome. I don''t think you''d have any problems with a Bengal at that age.

Your little guy is beautiful by the way!
She is gorgeous LilyKat! Do you have a thread with more pics of her? (if not, you should make one!)

I think you''re right - it''s important how well the kitten is socialized before coming to me, and I have no worries about my breeder. She really cares for her cats!

He''s so adorable! Congrats on your decision.

Re: the number of pets. I do not think it''s the amount of cats you have that matters so much is how well they get along. We had five cats (had to put three up for adoption
7.gif
) and they fought like crazy. We thought with just two, we''d be safe. One of the two is over 16 years old and so grumpy and set in her ways that her and my other, younger, cat STILL hiss and swip at each other constantly!

If you''re lucky enough to find cats who are well suited to socializing with each other, I do not see anything wrong with having more than two. Just get an extra liter box!

OMG, he is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my stars, I just wanna rub his little tummy!!! Glad you decided on him!!! You''ll make a wonderful Bengal kitty mom!!!

BTW, Lorelei, I have three kitties, and we''re looking to get another. My little boy looks exactly like MC''s.

Actually, I AM worried about the litter box situation if I get another cat. I have a small apartment (715 sq ft), one bedroom and one bath. Any apt. I get in NY will most likely be smaller. Where will these go???

Thanks PP! I soooo wish I could see him now. I want a video at least! Seriously I''ll be bugging the breeder for weekly updates, lol. It''s a long time until end of September, and I want my little baby!

Sad update.

So I was supposed to take the 6 week old Bengal right? This a kitten from a breeder being mentored by my breeder...my breeder, C, is helping her (J) get set up, and this was J''s first litter. So C and I talk tonight, and she said that J has bought a couple more cats from CA, and one tested positive for FeLV, and had to be put down. C advised me NOT to take the 6 week old kitten...since we don''t know what''s going on as far as the other cats being infected, and because J obviously didn''t do her legwork in buying these cats (I think C was kind of mad too, because J decided to go out on her own instead of accepting more help from C). C also told me that two of her cats are possibly pregnant again, and she''s going to take them in for ultrasounds on Tuesday, and she''ll let me know. If I decide to go with one of their litters, great. If not, she''ll refund me my deposit.

But sadly, that means that my little Kipling #2 is gone
7.gif
It''s been trying, what with the litter I was supposed to be picking from all being stillborn, and then this
7.gif
Third time''s the charm?

In the meantime, I''ve sent off e-mails to three other breeders in my area, two of which had litters born in the last week. Also an e-mail to a very reputable breeder in Canada that I heard about on a Bengal forum, and who just had a litter born today.

Sigh.

Oh BEG, I''m so sorry.
7.gif
I''m sure you will get your little Kipling soon. I can''t believe the other breeder was so irresponsible! I hope the sweet little kitten is not infected.

OH NO!!!! i was just about to reply with saying how happy i was that you got him too.
7.gif
so what happens if the little guy tests negative for FeLV? would C still let you have him? good luck with your search...please keep us posted!

Ohh how disappointing.

Hugs

Oh, I''m so sorry...I''m sure you''ll find the purrrfect kitty soon!

Oh how disappointing. I am sooooo sorry.

Thank you all for the sympathy. I''ve been in touch with some other breeders (or have e-mailed them anyway), and I''m hoping something will work out. I know at least two in my area just had litters born.

VIP, my breeder was mostly advising me not to get the kitten because of the breeder''s irresponsible methods, rather than any chance the kitten was infected (although that is a definite concern as well). I''d feel pretty uncomfortable, actually, getting the kitten from her as well because of all this

yeah, i'd feel pretty uncomfortable as well. aww...i'm sorry! *HUGS* your situation reminds me a little of what happen to me actually. about a year and half ago, the BF and i were searching for a kitten as well. the one we originally wanted got scooped up before we could meet him. the 2nd one we were thinking about, passed away suddenly. it turned out we weren't allowed to adopt the 3rd we found since we were out of the shelter's county boundries. i was getting so frustrated and was about to give up when i found our boy online. as soon as i saw him, i e-mailed the foster lady about setting up an appointment to meet him. the next day, we decided to go to a PetSmart adoption fair just to look...it wasn't even the one that was closest to our home. we had just happen to be traveling that way. anyway, we walked in and in one of the kennels was our boy! we asked the lady to see him and it turned out to be the foster mom i had written to the night before. she was like, "oh, you must have gotten my e-mail i sent this morning!". confused, i told her that i didn't even check my mail before we left. she was like, "really? i wrote to tell you i was going to be here with him and his litter mates." at that point, we knew it was destined to be. we even adopted his sister, which wasn't the plan but we're so happy that we did.

anyway... (sorry for the long story) sometimes the right kitty will just happen when you least expect it. i have faith that you'll find him or her and i wish you the best of luck in your search!

Aw VIP that is a really sweet story! It was definitely fate that you adopted him and his sister - do you have pictures anywhere?

So I have another update:

The last few days, I''ve been in contact with breeders around the country - branching out from the Chicago area. Finally, I decided to talk to Dazzledots, which is a really reputable breeder in Canada that I heard about through a Bengal forum (think the Leon of Bengals?
3.gif
), and she told me that it''s a bit of a headache exporting/importing Bengals into/out of the US. So I checked out some US breeders that she recommends on her webpage, and ended up talking to the guy at Mystre Bengals. He''s very knowledge, head of several Bengal organizations, etc. and knows basically the who''s who of the Bengal show and breeding world.

Well we were talking, and he said even if I didn''t go with him, he''d be happy to tell me if any other breeders I''m considering are good, etc. I told him who I had been working with, and he said the breeder was really not great. That her cats, except for one, didn''t have pedigrees listed, no acknowledgment of where and from who they had gotten the studs and queens from, didn''t like the name because it was VERY close to Dazzledots, creating some confusion, and didn''t like the looks of the cats. I mentioned that breeder worked with another one and co-owned some cats with her, and he said that the other lady was crazy. So, I kind of got frightened by this, because it did make sense in retrospect.

Anyway, he recommended a breeder closer to me if I didn''t want to go with him, and I''ve decided that is the one I am going with - the breeder is Bengaland, based in PA.

Sorry for the long tale, but it''s been a crazy mess - although BF and I agreed that we should get two kittens at the same time, so they can bond with each other (or are bonded, being littermates), especially considering how difficult this process has been. He said he would buy me one as a present
1.gif
And I''ve asked my original breeder to refund my deposit, like she offered, and said it just wasn''t working out.

Aw, BEG, I''m sorry the little guy didn''t work out
8.gif
. Please keep us posted on what is going on with the new breeder.

wow, that breeder sounds like he knows what he''s talking about and i''m glad you''re not going with the other one. especially since you''re spending all this time, effort and money, i would hope you''re getting a good cat. i just checked out Bengaland and their cats are stunning! i love the markings on them and they seem like top quality kitties. i think you''re doing a great job doing your research and taking your time into finding the right and responsible breeder.
36.gif
keep us posted on how it''s going!

btw, i think getting two kittens is a great idea! they''ll be able to keep each other company and they''ll have a forever playmate. our 2 kitties are are out of a litter of 5 so i think it was nice that they were each other''s "security blanket" when we first took them home. nowadays, they''re totally like how you''d imagine any other brother and sister to be. sure, they bicker every now and then but they totally love each other!

here''s a pic of my boy Felony when he was a kitten. this was also the original pic that we saw online that made us fall in love with him! i also posted this on oobiecoo''s original thread. =)
