omg VIP, your babies names are hilarious!! My hubby thought that was very funny. :)
LOL! Thanks SanDiegoLady! BF and I were trying to pick out cute "couple" names and somehow we came up with those. BF''s dad is a police officer so in a way, we did it in honor of him. The first time we took them to our vet, the whole staff literally came out to see them. I guess ever since I made the appointment, they were all curious and now everyone remembers them! The receptionist said we won the award for the most creative names. ^_~ Who knew that the kitties would actually live up to their names as well? They''re such little trouble makers!

Brown Eyed Girl - I don''t post often, but wanted to let you know that you will be so happy that you decided to get two Bengal kittens! My husband and I got our two male littermates in March and they are so much fun! I am glad they have each other to burn off some of that Bengal energy. They are quite active and they really are unlike any other cats that I have had in my life. They are very "dog like" in their devotion - they follow us wherever we are in the house and they definitely like to be the center of attention. But when they are tired, they love to sleep in your lap and will do that for hours - gives us an excuse to lay around and watch tv!

You will be very happy that you decided to get two of them!

Ooh you have to tell me more about your Bengals! Please?

And post pics!

I''ve heard that Bengals, esp. kittens, are SO active - I feel like our lives are going to get crazier by adding a kitten, especially two, but in such a good way. I had a dream that I was taking my two Bengal kittens through airport security last night, lol.

How did you decide on those two kittens? Were you able to visit? (sadly, I won''t be able to because the breeder is in PA while I''m currently in NY for the summer, and Chicago full time). Do you recommend getting two boys? I''m thinking either two boys or a boy and a girl. How was the transition to your home? And do they like to be held, petted, etc.?

The only thing I''m worried about is that our apartment may be too small for two! We have a 1BR, 715 sq ft. The kittens will have the full run of the apartment, but I still worry.

VIP, I LOVE your cats'' names - I''m a law student, so I''m finding them so cute and hilarious!

And your cats are just adorable!!

Brown Eyed Girl - you may regret asking about my Bengals because I can really ramble on about them! I had wanted one for years, but we had already had an older cat and he was the "king of the house" and we knew he wouldn''t do well with a kitten. We lost him in February and went from saying we couldn''t get another pet to realizing that the house was way too empty without a cat. We had always said we would get two so they could keep each other company when we are not at home.

An old friend of ours had gotten her two bengals from a breeder in Maryland (where we live) about three years ago. She had really done her legwork and was thrilled with her two boys. We tend to like male cats as they seem to be more laid back than the females that I had in the past so that''s why we decided on two brothers. We are so happy with our choice!

We first saw them when they were three weeks old and we visited them three more times before we picked them up. We got them at 10 weeks old on March 20th. They are very well socialized and the transition was very easy! We were worried they''d be upset on the 1 hour car ride home, but not a peep out of them. Our breeder recommended keeping them in one room for the first few days and that''s what we did. We kept them in a spare bedroom that I use as a workout room. It''s a good idea to keep them where they won''t hide under the bed or anything else. After the first week we gave them limited access to the open areas of our home. We have a very open floor plan so we just blocked off access to the bedrooms because they were very easy to "lose" if you didn''t keep an eye on them!

They are definitely very active! We try to keep them "busy" when we are home so they sleep through the night and that seems to be working. Sometimes they test your patience - they know what they''re doing is wrong and they look at you while they are doing it! But we have never had cats that are lap cats like these are. They are total love bugs! They bonded with us immediately and they are also very friendly when people come over - unlike our other cat who always hid when we had company!

I''ll admit that after we made our decision I started to get worried about the mayhem two kittens would cause, especially after having an older cat that was arthritic and laid around most of the day, but honestly they bring so much joy to our lives I can''t imagine not having "the boys" in our home!

I checked our your breeder''s website and it looks like some of the studs and queens are from the breeder we used - Junglemist in Port Deposit, Maryland.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I''ll try to post some pictures!

No way - I want to hear all about your kittens! You can tell me as much as you want - I promise I will not be bored! And I can''t wait to see pictures!

Are you finding them as smart as Bengals are supposed to be? And by smart, I mean smart and naughty! And do yours love water?

That''s so fantastic that you were able to visit! The litters I''ll be choosing from will be born in the middle of this month. I think it''s possible for me to visit while I''m still in NYC, but unfortunately, I end work at the end of the month, and leave soonafter, so I don''t think the kittens will be old enough. Although I''m definitely going to figure this out.

I just looked at Junglemist''s website- what gorgeous cats! I think at least one of the litters I''m looking at will be sired by one of the cats from your breeder. I''d love to get a brown rosetted and a snow rosetted (although I know the snows cost more). I still need to call the breeder tonight - I''ve been working on a 30 page paper for the last 2 days and my brain''s been fried. But I''m done!

They are definitely smart! Although they haven''t learned how to open doors and kitchen cabinets yet! I know it''s only a matter of time for the doors since we have lever handle doors. We pretty much have to keep them out of our home office - they just get into everything! The door to the office is a french door and they stand on the other side and will cry and lean on the door until you come out! One of them is definitely the "trouble maker." We always say he ruins it for his brother who will be lying in the sun on the office floor and the other one will be on the keyboard, touching the screen with his paws or nose, pulling stuff that''s tacked up on my husband''s desk, knocking the trashcan over and just generally getting into trouble!

My friend''s Bengals actually turned her cooktop on! She removed the knobs from the front so that doesn''t happen again. When we went to visit her one of her boys was pulling the heat register up from the floor. I''m just hoping ours end up being "dumber" than most Bengals!

It''s probably a good idea to get a brown rosetted and a snow rosetted - my husband still confuses the two of them! Their mother is a snow - she''s Winter Flurry on Junglemist''s site and their dad is Dark Daze (brown rosetted) who is now at the breeder''s daughter''s site which is Witchinghour Bengals. He''s really big! One of ours is already 8 lbs. and the other one is 7.5 lbs. Not quite six months old yet.

They do like water but not as much as we thought. We let them walk around in the shower after my husband gets out. They don''t mind the water on their feet and occasionally they play in the water bowl. We haven''t tried letting them in their while he is showering because we had an incident where they both slid into the tub when I was in there and it was not pretty! They freaked out and started sliding in the tub (it''s a large corner tub) and couldn''t get out quickly enough. When we got them out they were sliding on the marble floor and they were not happy - and neither were we!

I tried to post some pictures, but am having a hard time resizing. I tried for an hour - I know I should be embarrased to admit that! The photos are 3 MB and I think we must be using a different program than we had before because I cannot seem to edit and resize them.

Congratulations on finishing your paper!

Omg that''s so scary, with the cooktops! I need to kitten proof my apartment, for sure - definitely need to spray Bitter Apple or something on electrical cords at the very least. Thank goodness we don''t have level doorknobs!

That''s too funny about them sliding in the tub and on the floor! (Although I''m sure it wasn''t that funny for you when you were trying to get out of their way). I bet it was really cute though. I was just watching the kitten videos on Mystre Bengals'' website (they''re the ones who referred me to Bengaland). SO cute - I want mine now!

As for pics, I''m not sure about PCs, but if you have a Mac, check and see if you have Graphics Editor. I use it to resize all my pics, and it came with my Macbook. Just click on one of the menu options (sorry, can''t remember which one!) but it''ll have an option saying "Size picture" or something similar. And choose "resize by pixel numbers" and insert 250,000. That should get it to a good size for uploading (I usually have to reopen the pic in Preview though and Save As with a lower quality to get the size down.

Let''s see if this works...if so it''s their first day home

Guess you can tell which one is laid back and who the troublemaker is! Hope you enjoyed these pictures and that they give you something to look forward to!!!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!!

And yes, one of those boys looks extreeeeemly mischievous!

I just talked to my breeder - I''ve arranged to go visit in early August. It means I''ll be taking a 3.5 hour Amtrak ride down there from NY, then figuring out how to get from Harrisburg to Carlisle, but I''ll have the time, and I think it''ll be worth it to be able to see the cattery and actually see the kittens I''ll be choosing from (even if they''re too young to hold, since they''ll only be 2 or 3 weeks old by then). I''m so excited!!

They are cute aren''t they?

That''s great you''ll be able to visit them! We didn''t hold ours the first time either - they were so little we were afraid we''d break them! Talk about cuteness overload - wait until you see a whole litter of them at the same time. Our boys were from a litter of six - all the same color. Every time we visited, she''d pull ours out and then once all the other kittens would come out we couldn''t tell which were ours! It''s amazing how the breeder can tell them all apart.

Don''t forget to take a camera and post pics when you visit!

Oh my heavens those are seriously gorgeous kitties!

Cute Cute Cute!!! I want more kitties!!

lvnut, your bengals are absolutely adorable!! I love the photo of them sleeping on the leopard print blanket... can''t tell where one starts and the other one ends. Too cute!!

BEG, I think it''s a great idea to visit the cattery. That will give you a good idea of their breeding standards. My DH and I did that when we bought our savannah and our bengals. I''ve been following your story and hope you bring home some bengal babies soon.

Maisie, your bengal is sooooo cute!! I love the pictures of him in the window!

I can''t resist posting one of my favorite photos of our bengals. The one on the right is the one in my avatar. She has the softest coat I''ve ever felt... and she knows it!! lol!!

bengals-2.jpg

Portia, she''s adorable! They both are! And I personally would not object to seeing more pics!
1.gif

I want to see more too!!! I can''t get Gracie to sit still long enough for a photo shoot!

Thank you all for your kind comments on my photos!

Portia - I also would love to see some more of your Bengals - love them both and at least you can easily tell them apart! Their coats are unbelievably soft aren''t they? Do you also notice that they don''t shed?

Maisie - I know what you mean about trying to getting them to sit still! That''s why I have so many of them sleeping!

Maisie, I love seeing pics of your Gracie. I hope she lets you get some more pics of her!

I''m really excited about going to visit the breeder. I will definitely bring my camera with me - BF will still be working, so I''ll be going on my own, and I know he''ll want to see the little furballs too
3.gif
Now to just figure out the logistics of getting there!

Ok, I''m back with some more photos. I don''t really have any good ones with me and I think these have been posted on here already... oh well. My DH and I need to set up a kitty photo shoot and get some new pics.

Here are Ghengis and Haley again sleeping...

Crazy Haley flying through the air...

The girls... Zoe our Savannah and Haley. Zoe was a baby here... she''s now 14 lbs. and bigger than Ghengis.

I don''t have any more of Ghengis and Haley, but here''s Zoe. She''s not a Bengal, but she does have similar spots so I hope it''s okay to include her. We love her to death!!! She sure loves her loofa dog toy!!

zoesmall.jpg

BEG, I can''t wait to hear all about your breeder visit in Aug. We''re in Chicago and got our Bengals from Goldspurr Bengals. Reasonably priced and no medical issues (Ghengis is about 10 yrs. and Haley is 8 yrs. old). We purchased our F2 Savannah from Select Exotics... they have Bengals as well. Our kitties are very active and very vocal. Haley has learned how to get inside cabinets and both bengals love to drink from the faucets (although that''s as close as they''ll get to water). Zoe, on the otherhand, loves to get in the bathtub and play in the water. I have to close the bathroom door when cleaning the tub because she''ll just jump in and make a mess. She even jumped in the shower with me one time. Haley has dinner time down to the minute and loves to play ping pong with herself (she''s the world champion lol!!) every evening after she eats. Her ''tournaments'' consist of batting a ping pong ball around for about 20 min. It''s the funniest thing!

lvnut, I still can''t get over how adorable your kitties are. I had to show my DH and my mom those pics. What cuties!!!

Maisie, I''d love see more photos of Gracie!
