~~The half moons look so perfect next to your oval, and I know the setting will be stunning!!!!

ETA: I love the look of claw prongs on a center stone, so that would be my pick!!!

One last question, claw prongs on the oval or single?? The ring posted is not an oval but a cushion. I could go either way. What say you???
I have absolutely no idea...honestly it will be superb either way...

Being the wuss that I am, I''d probably ask Leon if he favors one over the other even a teeny bit, and go with his preference...

If he does''t have a preference, I dunno!!! Single, maybe, but I don''t know why!

too funny widget - I didn''t respond because I was going to say the same thing LOL I was gonna say - let leon choose! If you always wanted double prongs, go for it... I kinda like the look of 4 but it''s pretty negligible.

My first conversation with him before I even had the oval was that he didn''t like claw prongs for ovals. I was relieved as I thought they could take away from the stone. I love them on a round or a cushion. But today he threw me for a loop saying claw prongs would be great for my stone. I didn''t think it was big enough, wide enough to accomodate them. I have to sleep on it. Either will be great, but am leaning towards single prongs. I want the stone to show as much as possible.......... ughh, this is hard!!!

Oooh Lisa...this is exciting!

I personally would do the double claw prongs on the oval. I like the extra detail of the double claw prongs in profile view. I dunno what it is, but it just seems more sophisticated. It''s a totally personal choice though and either way it''s going to be a fantastic ring!!! You are one lucky lady. Let us know what you find out about the half moons. Hopefully it''s just the picture.

If Leon thinks the double prongs are good then I would go for it. Remember, his prongs are so small - I doubt they''ll hide your ring too much. This sounds like it will be great!

Claw prongs all the way! I once saw a pic of an oval + half moons ring on the Harry Winston site, and the oval had the tiny, double prongs and it was gorgeous (my first love for a someday-upgrade).

I would post a pic, but I only have a screenshot pasted into a powerpoint slide.

Another vote for the claw prongs. I think they would look incredible on an oval stone of this size and you know that Leon will make them delicate so they won't overshadow your beautiful diamond.

HI:

Either way would be oh so beautiful--atho I really love the double claw look!

cheers--Sharon

Another reason possibly for going with the claws...you already have a round with 4 prongs and side stones. I''d want this ring to look a little different. I think the claws are so "leon" and would distinguish the piece. In any event, he''s the artist, so I''d probably go with what he thinks best!

I''m going with claw prongs. You guys are right!! I was thinking this morning how delicate they will be and so special for the whole look of the ring. Thanks for all the input.

WHEEEEE!

How irrationally happy am I that you''re getting the ring done *exactly* as IIIIIIII would have chosen it so now I get to see MY OWN ideal finished product! HA! It''s all about MEEEEE!

I''m so glad you reconsidered both the "wedge" prong & the claw prong. I just KNOW you''re gonna love it!!! And having Leon''s expert eye with the stuff there in person is invaluable (so it''s not like I''m really going out on a crazy limb with my or your ultimate choices here!!!)

I thought about the four prong thing too last night ... you already HAVE that ... so why not try something new/different/YUMMO

OMG that is soooo gorgeous, thanks cutey!!! Deco, another very wise PS''er told me the same thing. I think it''s really his signature, and a ring without it would be kind of not as special?? I know the other way would be pretty too, but I am going for the whole Leon look. I''m just glad my stone can accomodate them. I''m calling him now!!!

He said single claw is best, guess he changed his mind. Said it will look best this way. That''s what he had told me in the first place. I think he was just busy when I spoke to him yesterday. He said he will try to have it done in 4 weeks!! So excited!!!

I love his double claw prongs - but for your Oval I think single would be best.
In that HW pic the double prongs look kind of busy with the oval.
4 weeks! Awesome! It looks like you''re getting in before the Christmas rush.
At this time last year my ring took 7-8 weeks! Yeesh!

Scintillating...

Regardless, I think your ring will turn out amazing! I''ve been watching your story very closely as I will most likely begin working on my anniversary / new baby ring sometime in the early Spring. I keep wavering back and forth with this type of ring (oval w/ half moon sides) and just a larger RB. I will be excitedly waiting for your ring to be finished because I know that it''s going to turn out great.

Once, a while back, I talked to Leon about this exact ring and that was when he sent me two pictures. I think I posted them in another thread a while back...but he used single prongs on the oval in that ring and it looks amazing. I think the slight difference is that Leon uses slightly larger half moons than what''s pictured in this HW piece. That''s probably why he leans toward the single prongs so that it won''t look so "cluttered."

I think once you''re over the "leon-ness" of the double claw, the singles do *look* better... less "there". I guess for me it would depend on whether I really wanted it to look like a leon or not. I think the diamond itself looks better with 4. BUT there''s nothing wrong with the ring being gorgeous and exactly what you want - if you want doubles go for it... it isn''t going to look bad either way!
