I always try to be incredibly careful about hoping for a proposal. I am always that Negative Nelly poster who cautions ladies against getting their hopes up for special occasions and trips. Typically I’m more of a “believe it when you see it” type of person. So why am I sitting here with a little rumbling of excitement over the fact that tomorrow is my b-day and even though I do know better…I keep finding myself hoping it happens tomorrow.

I shouldn’t have any expectations or hopes. None at all. For many reasons. One reason being he told me directly that he tried to get me an amazing gift for my b-day but things just didn’t work out the way he had hoped. I believe him when he says that. He has no reason to be trying to throw me off his trail because he isn’t even aware of the fact that I know he is on the ring hunt to begin with.

Another of my friends mentioned that at a bachelor party this weekend my SO told a few people he is looking at rings but she thought my SO was going to wait until after a wedding for another couple we are friends with.

I know I am completely wrong to even have the slightest hope that he’s trying to throw me off.

I know I am being foolish.

But, despite all that wonderful knowledge, I can’t help but find myself hoping.

At least I know to keep my head on straight so I don’t end up disappointed when he doesn’t do it. I will enjoy my day regardless especially since my Wii Fit will be delivered - - talk about a distraction!

ETA - I was just venting about benig silly...that's all!

I think that it''s hard not to get your hopes up with big days like birthdays and anniversaries and things.
You seem to be keeping an open mind with it though so enjoy your birthday regardless and if it doesn''t happen, enjoy your last birthday as a single girl as you''ll be engaged/married for the rest of your birthdays!!

Now that I think about it I didn't really celebrate my last singleton birthday. BF says he's going to propose before my next one. I need to re-live the last one! I didn't do it properly last time around!!!

That is really exciting when you look at it that way -- the last birthday as a single gal!

About the worrying-- I''m the same way. I know there will be NO engagement until after my graduation in April 09, but everytime something comes around, I always think "What If" when I know damn well that there''s no way in hell. In my girl mind, its like "Well maybe he''s just pretending that it will be later so he can surprise me now!" And of course, I KNOW that''s not true.

So like we always say, enjoy this time while you''re waiting, and it will be well worth it when the time comes. Cliche, yes, but so, so true!

I am really loving the idea that this is my last "singleton" b-day. Makes me wish I lived in NYC and could call up my girlfriends to go out to a fancy martini bar. Actually it makes me want to create a signature martini for the night called a singleton

I am "working" today but I do have tomorrow off so I can really enjoy the night tonight.

If I could make my Singleton into anything...I would make a martini that tasted like swedish fish but not quite as sweet, with a nice sugar ring and a little sweedish fish floating inside the drink. That sounds about right
