I know others have addressed this in other threads, but I just had to speak my mind too. Why is it that when people go to spend money and buy diamonds, they do not want to learn about well cut stones, but rather they think they know what they need to know and they end up spending too much money?

I have a friend who will be buying herself a loose diamond for a pendant. She plans to buy from a local B&M, but granted, her fiend is employed there or is part owner or something. So, my friend is determined that she is going to get a good deal. I suggested to her that she should still be well prepared and educated on cut quality and online pricing for a comparable stone. This way, she will know if she is really getting a good deal and if she is in fact getting a good stone and not just trust what her friend tells her.

She did write down AGS ideal and GIA excellent, but that was the end of it. I even did a search of comparable stone son GOG and WF for her to have as a comparison. She kind responded to me in a confused manner. Oh well, I tried. Maybe she will read what I sent her. I know she will get a very pretty stone. She has good taste, but expensive taste and she tends to overpay, so I will not be surprised if she overpays…oh well…what is a diamond lover to do????

Sometimes there''s just nothing you can do, people don''t want to be bothered. Best to leave her be. You know *you* could have done much better.
