...and dress shopping with her was fabulous! For those who missed the earlier thread, I was debating whether or not to wait for my OOT mom to visit to go dress shopping for the first time. I''m glad I waited, because I might have found my dress. I still have a couple of shops to check out to be sure, but this one was the 2nd dress I tried on at the 1st shop we went to - the sales lady pulled it out right away after I described what I thought I wanted, but seeing it on the hanger I said "ick"...funny how that works. After that, every dress that day had to live up to this one, and most of them failed horribly. The only other remotely close contenders lost points for being way too heavy/hot for an outdoor wedding or being otherwise uncomfortable. Sadly, the photos we got of me in the dress were at another shop (the one shop that allowed cameras), where the sample was a gold color and the pics didn''t come out great. My memory of how I felt/looked in the dress is much more positive than I feel when I look at the photos, so I definitely need to go back and try it on again. I put it on 4 different times between the 2 shops, and I loved it more every time. Without further ado... Anjolique 965:

I didn''t like this veil, and sadly I don''t have any pics without it. At the first shop I tried a long, single-tier veil with a thinner ribbon edge that was PERFECT with the dress. It landed about an inch before the edge of the train all the way around - added something without hiding the dress. This one in the pic is just too distracting and adds weight to my middle...

try that one again...

I loved this Maggie (Sottero and Midgely line), and it looked great on me, but the points along the neckline insisted on digging in to me any time I bent forward. I don''t think there''d be a good way of altering it to stop that from happening, so I''m sad to say it''s been scratched from the list....

Beautiful! Wow! And if you love it more every time you wear it, that''s def. a good sign. I admire you for being patient enough to check out other shops.

This was another Anjolique that I loved, but it was SO HOT and HEAVY. I could never wear it for an outside wedding without fainting from heat exhaustion, so this beauty is out of the running. It really doesn''t look like it, but this dress has something like 5 layers of skirt, and I was burning up after just 2 minutes. Granted, it was slightly warm in the shop, but nothing like what it could be for our wedding.

You look fabulous in it! Congrats on finding the Dress!

Wow! It''s gorgeous. Spectacular choice. It''s perfect on you! And you''re so lucky to have had your mom with you. I think I will always regret that my mom wasn''t here with me, and if I have a daughter some day, I''m going to make a point of going to her for dress shopping, no matter how far away we live.

I love the Maggie too, but I see what you mean about the pointy tips. What were they thinking? Something like "HAHA! Let''s POKE THE BRIDES! We''ll trick them into trying on this dress, then POKE THEM!''

what a gorgeous dress! i absolutely adore the skirt.

i''ve loved that maggie dress too, and that is actually the first time i''ve ever seen it on someone other than the model. i can honestly say that is the dress that has brought me thisclose many times to going dress shopping before i am actually engaged! too bad about the pointy tips. boo pointy tips!

Beautiful dress! I love love love the bodice!!!

I definitely think you made the right choice! I think your dress looks even better on you than the 2 you had to cross out due to other issues! I love the detail on the bodice!

That''s really lovely. And, different looking even though it is the ''ubiquitous'' strapless style. Maybe it''s the placement of the beading along with the ruching. That''s a beautiful, glowing ivory shade.

Thanks so much, everybody! I really do love this dress, and I think it''ll be really hard to top it for how it flatters me, comfort, and fitting my style.

Yeah, I didn''t think I''d want strapless, but what I found in person was that halters and other strapped styles looked awful on me while the subtly contoured strapless looked great. The dress in the photo is actually the "gold" color, and it looked awful on me in person. I much preferred the ivory that I tried on at the first shop - they didn''t allow cameras - which is the same color as the dress in the last pic (same designer and fabric). Hard to see the difference in color with these pics, but it was an easy decision in person.

Hello ladyciel,

I''m completely new to this forum, but I just wanted to say that your dress is gorgeous - Anjolique 965 is my dream dress, and I''m really glad you posted some pictures of it on yourself (it always looks different on a model). I''m not rushing to get a dress right now (the date is 5/23/09) but I''m definitely keeping my eyes open for the Anjolique line.
