here is my aqua:
6C77B700-FB83-421F-BF7F-FEE43392944E.jpeg

At first, I wanted a true Meghan replica (as close as possible):

(Is there a single small diamond on each side?)

So this was my inspiration: (two diamonds because my aqua has length)

But now I’m starting to think of different side stones, but as assume two small emeralds would be bulky and a nightmare to match?

Any ideas?

If I went with two rounds, what size would you choose?

If I went with four roounds, what size would you choose?

If I went with “other”, what would you choose?

Thanks for any ideas or inspiration. This is a late year, early new year timetable.

EDITED: mine is 6.86 carats

Well, it looks like Di’s has 3 tiny diamonds on each side. I’m open to that. But what sizes?

First of all, congrats on your aqua! It looks quite substantial in size and a nice, color, too.

I would not go with emeralds purely from the durability standpoint, before worrying about matching. If you went with other, I would pick chrysoberyl in a nice bright lemon yellow. But I think diamonds would be best to be close to the inspiration (Di's ring).

I'm assuming that by two rounds, you mean one round on each side, and by four rounds, you mean two rounds on each side.

So, if you want similar proportions (around 1/5 of the aquamarine length), I think that means:
1. single round on each side, 2 rounds total, 3-4mm each
2. two rounds on each side, 4 rounds total, 2mm each
3. three rounds on each side, 6 rounds total, 2mm each

Personally, I think that your ring would look nicer proportionally speaking with 2 2x3mm baguettes and 2 2mm rounds, instead of all rounds.

Pretty stone and inspiration!
I think with your sone's length it's smart to go more than one small round sidestone.
I would look for fat baguettes (clip cornered) instead of emerald cuts if you lean that way.
Either way, I'd keep the sidestones to same as proportions to the original

My daughter and I were playing with some things that I now have in the ultrasonic lol. I’ll post some pics in a minute.

I think we both like the original Di/Meghan ring with three 12 points.

Two 12.5 points

Each is 25 point

37 point with two 12.5 points (tilt window)

Aqua is FILTHY (fingerprints)

Just playing around

Ooooh! What a stunning aqua!
The inspiration design will be gorgeous. I also love a frenchie on each side or a fat baguette

Edit: I now see your new pics. My vote goes to three on each side but all with the same dimensions: so 3x12,5 points

I think trillion sidestones would look fantastic. Personally, I'd want to match the straight edge of the aqua with a straight edge of a side stone, so not rounds for my taste.
Trapezoid diamonds would be lovely too!

It is long and skinny, so I do think I need three 12.5 rounds or something fat like a trap.

disclosure: this is my daughter’s hand. I have eczema and this year it is horrible and my hands are all torn up right now.

I’d do two long baguettes on each side and then a third to keep with the EC lines but give some substance to the sides -something like this

This is my cheapo skinny Aqua from JD and I love this kind of Art Deco type symmetry:

I like Gary's Aqua and am glad it has gone to a good home.
DK :))

I feel like you could ask him to adjust the design to add some diamond accents and it would be even more stunning.
And since i feel ick for screen shotting his website here is a link

I like the diamond trapezoid or small triangle idea.

A97A3849-4190-4740-A2CC-45B710C15DDF.jpeg I saved this photo the other day. It belongs to Bright Ice. I love the sidestones

I love that.

I sent Yoram an email with the dimensions of the aqua and two pics to see if he feels like he has anything that would work.

Obviously, I put in there not to reply until next week in case he reads it tomorrow.

@DK thanks. I love this aqua and will give it a good home.

Keep the ideas coming, everyone! I’m studying them all.

I’ve not been stumped yet about a design until this one.

@Maisie tell me again what that stone is in your avatar and where you bought it, thanks, it’s amazing,

I like traps with emerald cuts... to me there’s a certain elegance with the clean straight lines vs mixing with rounds.

Saw this Oscar Heyman ring this morning on IG and putting here as a possibility as well.

Your aqua is such a classic size and shape! It’s beautiful! I would set it with two diamonds on either side, vertically like in your first photo. It would look like it came from another era.

I like it with the rounds, but my heart loves emerald cut aquas in straight-lined settings the best. So either baguettes or bright ice’s stunning French cut setting would get my vote.

I also love blue and green stones together though, and love your idea of maybe emerald sides. Would it be expensive to have some (synthetic?) sides cut? Synthetic sides might make it easier to find something to match, or contrast with, a similar depth of colour as your stone? That obviously wouldn’t work if you want something closely inspired by Di’s ring though.

I happen to have two sets of emerald melee!! I thought about it. I’m not sure if I like it or not or if I want to use my emeralds for this.

It’s a 4.41ct Cambodian Blue Zircon. I was in the process of buying it but I decided to go with a tourmaline instead. As far as I know it’s still available. It’s from Sunshine Gems on Etsy :))

The color is mesmerizing.

It is beautiful. I realised that 4+ carats would be too big for me so decided to choose a smaller tourmaline. Plus I already have a blue Zircon waiting to be set.
