Hi there all you good people!

I''ve posted once or twice before, and am in the process of having a three ring set made. It''s to be a centre cluster, with a diamond white sapphire at 0.9ct and surrounded with 2mm classic blue sapphires. The outer eternity rings (2) are to be identical, and also with 2mm blues. I have bought the sapphires from Signity, and they are truly lovely, perfectly matched and even to my untrained eye, can see they are cut well...but they are machine cut, so I guess they would be!

The white sapphire was sourced from a good lady in the US, and is an untreated and unheated pure white, at VVS and D/E colour and oval brilliant cut.

I have seen very few pictures of clusters with a white as the central stone (sapphire), and am wondering whether it might be too much to not only have the blue surrounding the white oval, but also around the edges of the cluster also?

Has anyone got any pictures or ideas of how it might look?

The central ring is going to have a plain shank, so compliment the blues of the eternity rings. I am hoping to have it somewhere between a cluster and a halo type ring, but in part I am flying blind with this project, as a good friend is taking my stones out of the UK, and having my rings made in the Med. All to be handmade, in 18ct white gold...they guys work is amazing, and very precise, but of course, all I can give her to go on, is pictures...but we are reading off the same page for the project.

I just feel a few more pictures might be the extra bit of info needed.

many thanks for anyone who might be able to help

You may have to put out a cry for photoshop help. I don''t recall ever seeing a cluster ring with a white center and colored outer stones. Maybe if you post some pictures of the shape you want, someone can help you with photoshopping the colors around.

Getting small coloured melee stones is going to be a challenge.

1. Small melee do not hold their colour well - many tend to be too light and washed out. To get them very saturated, the price will really escalate.
2. To colour match THAT many melees will be a daunting task for any jeweller. This will REALLY drive up the cost.

As for pics, I haven't seen any. I would be very curious as to the look, I think it'll be very unique. I hope the photoshop experts will share their handiwork.

It''s going to be unique for sure, it''s been a long time in the thinking! I wanted a set of rings, that were neither engagement not wedding in type, and have opted for a cluster, halo type design, with two eternities to sit one either side. It took a long time to decide on the colour, and have been sent rubies and alexandrites to use at the accent stones - both of which were returned.

I now have, thanks to Signity.com putting me in touch with their UK contact, on approval, 100 of 2mm and 30 of 2.5mm beautiful blue sapphires, all perfectly matched, and to my eyes, pretty good. They deal with machine cut stones, which I guess if you want matching, is one pf the best options. Anyway - they are a gorgeous royal to mid blue, neither too dark, nor too bright and glary, subtle yet colourful. It''s not quite the tiny pave effect, more a cluster ring - with very plain edges etc, and the centre ring is to be a plain shank. The 2mm stones are for the two eternities.

The cost, and I can take what I need for my rings, and return the rest...is going to be not that bad. Altogether the sapphires will be about $150 - which together with my white sapphire ($200) makes a cost for stones of about $350. The making of the rings will push it up a little more of course! All in 18ct white gold, with perhaps a hint of yellow in there somewhere (undecided on that) but the final cost is going to come out at a bit less then $1400.

I simply cannot reveal who is making my rings at that amazing cost!! Seriously - he is amazing...and a contact of a good friend, who has her own small jewellery business

I''ve seen a few cluster on faycullen, which are amazing, and also a couple of people have posted on a ring that is in fact my inspiration, a ring set from topazery.com. Mine is going to be different, as my stone is oval, and white will be the centre stone, accented with the blue. Out there, there are a zillion sapphires to choose from...so why did I choose white? Long story...but in essence, I simply wanted something a little different to the normal diamond centre stone. It''s not an engagement ring...my man is not the marrying kind of guy! but it''s a ''special'' set of rings...just to wear on that hand...just because. And, sapphire is my birthstone, and blue one of my favourite coluors for stones, and it''s my 50th birthday this year...

Originally I was trying to design something that would hold 50 stones...it proved too hard to do with waht I wanted in design, so the 50 was scrapped, but the sapphire theme remained.

I saw a couple of white sapphire rings, on a site here in the UK, that simply looked amazing - but they were bespoke, and alas, out of my price range (about $3-4000)

So - the couple of pictures I have attatched here, are very much like how I envisage it being when finished, I was just hoping to see if anyone might have some piccies tucked away, that might give a little more inspiration!!

I have just two more weeks to nail down the final design!

When I saw this ring - I knew...I had fallen in love with how white sapphires look! I wanted, for this special birthday, an 'all' sapphire ring set...

Having a coloured sapphire in the centre wouldh ave meant using diamonds as accents, not what I wanted...

But this white sapphire, simply is beautiful...I think it was described as 'subtle shimmer'

Kind of sums up how I saw my rings project.

I just wanted more stones than this ring though. This sapphire just gleams - and mine looks just like this this one...

Not necessarily. You can use white sapphire instead of diamonds.
This website (Louis XV Jewelry) uses them alot: http://www.bylouis.com/

The attached ring is made up of a 16.61 carat vibrant Pink Topaz and 2.75 carats of White Sapphires in 14K white gold

BTW, I love that topazary ring that you posted up

I looked at that one while searching for my ER.

Oh my gosh I love Louis XV!! They have some of the most amazing jewelry there. Have you seen the World Famous Gems they have. I didn''t even know stones that big even existed. I love the new Ethereal Collection they just created.

http://bylouis.com/ or www.houseoflouisxv.com check them out if you have not already!

The people there are so nice too.

WOW is all I can say....

I looked at the byLouis site, and it is truly amazing...there is a ring there that at some point I will buy - or have made!

Also - the lariats - are wonderful - it truly is an amazing site - and such a diversity of rings types and price range. Well done them I say - for such a range.

Some of the gems sizes are incredible - too big for me, but they are truly scrumptious!

Seeing what they do with diamond cut white sapphire melee, has made me wish a little I had found this site earlier - then I might have had a coloured central stone!!

But...my white sapphire is amazing - beautifully cut and looks so elegant with the blue sapphires around it...I just can't wait now to have the rings made.

Two weeks to go!

Then 10 days in the making...
