If you could choose only two bands to stack with your solitaire.....

@meely all truthfulness (I'm a bit embarrassed to say) my band is inspired by a DK design, except it was yellow gold mostly instead of platinum, had fewer flowers, and the kicker, had French cut diamonds along the band. After buying my diamond, his band just wasn't in the budget. I would love to one day have him make the original for me to replace or add to this one.

Oh that DK design sounds lovely! Well I do think yours is really beautiful but I do get where you are coming from. Fingers crossed the DK french cut band is in your budget in the not too distant future!

Hahaha how are you going to limit it to two!?

Erm budget constraints lol that will be the only thing holding me back.
I think In order of priority I would like
1. a gold band engraved and interspersed with diamonds and engraving like the DK one I posted
2. A simple engraved/carved gold band
3. A smaller diamond eternity band
4. a coloured deco style french cut stone eternity (I want 3 actually, the holy trinity
)
5. A bigger diamond band, perhaps a 7 stone.

There we are - progress

I think that's all achievable in time lol then you can catch em all :)

@meely I don’t know how “small” you meant when you said small eternity band. If you’re looking for dainty rings I think ferkos fine jewelry from Etsy have a good pricing.

is this too small?

That’s pretty but the problem is going to be the N color of my main stone. I think I will have to get something made especially

I hadn't even considered that even though mine is an M. I guess the only way to know is once it's set, which band will complement your ring.

I suspect I will need to go down to at least a K in melee or small oec for it to look right as I am not after a high contrast look!

My baby omcs are like G-H ish so that's going to be different. I'll have to see when my ring gets here if it's worthwhile. Otherwise a plain gold antique band.

Are you getting DK to make the band for you as well? He can definitely source the oec melee in lower colours etc and find something that doesn't contrast too much.

Yes but not this year. I think that will be next years project! He is also going to make me a ring jacket so that I can get a 3 stone look. It will have a 4mm round emerald on either side of the diamond, well that’s the plan anyway.

It may look good with your omc anyway. Im pretty color sensitive and contrast bugs me but a lot of people like it. A plain gold band will look stunning with your ring. Has Alex sent anymore updates? I suspect I won’t wear my other diamond ring (it’s a G) on the other hand when I wear this new one.

Oh that's great, at least he'll have all the measurements for your ring anyway and can make something to match. That 3 stone jacket with emeralds sound pretty amazing!

I can't say that I'm that colour sensitive but my current ring is a H mrb lol so going to an M omc is going to be a change in itself. You know all this talk of wedding bands, I was originally going to reset my omc into a cluster so I only had to wear one ring. But after seeing how pretty it is now I don't think I will. No more updates yet lol but from instagram it appears that he's finished with the ring? It might get posted next week then?

Lol is it in the vid with all of the other rings 3rd latest as well? He needs to stop wearing it and get it in the post! :D

Love that David Klaas band you posted with the engraved orange blossoms on it. Sigh! They make such beautiful jewelry. Very happy with my ring setting from them. I just think if you have a round in your main ring that a wedding band with round stones would be complementary. I have an antique art deco ring that has an east west emerald cut pink sapphire in the filigree, and there's something about all the geometry that I want a French cut or emerald cut east west band to go with it. Rounds just won't do well with it. I think the shape of your large stone should determine the shape of stones in your band, but that's just me.

I have a lot of bands but if I only had to pick two-
-one would be a diamond band alternating with gold in between like the DK band posted with the engraved orange blossoms.
-the other would be my french cut band.
I absolutely love my french cut band tbh. It is my favorite band and the one band to rule them all in my book. If I had to keep just one band in my entire collection the french cut band would be the one. It’s the perfect width and height and I love the antique french cut diamonds.

That’s an interesting comment. Here is my stone, I think rounds will be ok with it. What do you think?7D598ADB-1C1F-495E-8A05-97A95E7B6FF9.png
Edit - do you have a thread for your ring?

kayla that is so interesting. I love your profile pic that is just dreamy! Where was your french cut band from? I feel like they are going to be like totally out of my price range. Have you got a post with your band collection anywhere?

I wear two smaller shared prong eternity bands, one white, one colored. I'm following along this thread with interest as I'm always looking for more stacking bands! I love the DK band you posted @meely.

@Mrs_Strizzle your floral band is gorgeous! But I can see how French cuts could bring it up another level. Is there a PS or IG link to the version with French cuts?

Beautiful cushion cut! Are you going to set it vertical or east west? I think with a rectangular stone that you can get into more shapes for your band. Maybe rectangular emerald cut alternating with rounds. Or I could totally see a five-stone avc band with your ring. This is a stack of bands that I wear with my right hand rings. This is my David Klaas ring in the center. Their work is so beautiful. I like this variety of shapes, and my Beverly K round and baguettes band seems to go with everything.IMG_0527 (1).JPG

Thank you, It’s going to be N/S. DK did a great job on your ring, the sapphire is a gorgeous color! I like your stack, I totally see what you mean about mixing the shapes. I think as my cushion is very rounded I will be able able to have rounds without it clashing. I’m not sure budget will suffice for a 5 stone avc but what a thought!

I don't know. I actually saw it a few years ago for sale on LT. I don't remember who had it for sale either or I would tag her here for credit. This is the pic I took from the listing. I'm now seeing that I also changed it by making each flower have 7 equal sized diamonds. Mine is a far cry from the inspiration though, for sure. 20191117_082622.jpg

Yeah the post with the bunch of rings lol happy weekend one. I love seeing what other people got too.

I’ve been lusting after the yellow gold version of this engraved band to go with my newly acquired solitaire. It may work for you as it would compliment a Victorian style solitaire beautifully. As with all things jewellery though, it needs to be tried on. This maybe easier with it being closer to home (well, when the lockdown is lifted) https://www.hancocks-london.com/product/yellow-gold-wedding-ring/504A404D-2016-4D49-B193-0241B57E0DD2.png

I think that’s lovely Rosie. It’s lower profile than a lot of the engraved gold bands I think it could work really well. Are you in the UK too I cannot remember? Can you direct me to where I might see your solitaire?

Definitely caters to our nosy sides! I love the yellow diamond eternity!
