... diamond earrings... what would you buy?

I love the look of huggies and drops, but in the $400 range, we''re obviously not talking Leon or WF or any of the top guns. I just really want some sparkly diamonds for my ears. Where would you shop with these parameters? I guess I could go as high as $475...

Nobody makes huggies like these (they''re photoshopped)... but I think they would make me happy.

What about a cluster? That would probably give you most sparkle and size for your money.

Something like this:

I really like the Dreams of Africa earrings from Whiteflash too, and they''re well within budget. Link

Thanks for the ideas and links! I think I''d like to shoot for more bitty stones rather than few bigger ones (like studs). Those are some blingy huggies for the price, too!

After I posted I found something on eBay. I know, I know... but I contacted the buyer and they said I could pick up rather than have it shipped, which means maybe I could see it in person before deciding. I''ll call and ask.

I''ve loved DBTY for 30 years. This is half a yard, .53 ct, $495. Seller has 100% + feedback, but not a lot of it.

Very pretty necklace, but those stones are going to be VERY tiny! For the price you're looking at, it'd make more sense to go with the .50 ctw bezel studs, than a DBTY with microscopic diamonds, which will hardly produce any bling. . .

Hmmmm.... I did think that the necklace pictured looked like more than .53 ct. The 13 diamonds should only be about 4 pts each - very tiny. It could be like... all bezel.

I just found that the seller used the same photos in a listing for a .75 ct DBTY. That can''t be a good sign.

Yep, and for all you know, the listing pictures could be of a 1.5 ctw DBTY necklace. I have a pair of itty bitty studs (probably 5 points per side) and on my neck they''d be lost in bezel settings!

Since your intention has been to buy earrings, possibly stick with the original plan! It''s easy to become overwhelmed with so many options.

Have you bought anything from them? My worry is that none of their stuff really says anything about the cut of the stones...
No, I haven''t, but those bezels are on my list.

Thank you - I needed to be talked down... I was getting all tweaky

. I think eBay must make a ton from tweaky impulse shoppers!

I'm far too inexperienced to buy without seeing in person anyway, so I guess I get to go shopping! I'll bet I could get a modest quality .40-ish ct bezel set pendant in my budget (Walmart has a .5 for $549) - but I think huggies are what I want. I always wear earrings.

ETA - I think I would really love some set with lengthwise baguettes, like my little photoshop job up there. If anyone runs across some, please flag me down!

Thanks for all the input, everyone.

I purchased some bezel studs from there. There was a slight issue with the setting so I sent them back to be fixed but I'm confident it will be worked out. The diamonds were very nice and sparkly! The guy who helped me (I think he's the owner, maybe?) hand selected my stones for me.

oobiecoo - I can not wait to see pics of those! What size did you go with?

I''ll try to post pics when I get them back. I''m so terrible at posting pics because my camera isn''t good for anything smaller than like an apple

I sooo need a new one.

I went with the 1/2 total carat weight. He also knew I wanted the whole stud to be close to 5mm total so he chose stones that had a tiny bit less depth to get a little larger spread. They also have really great backs that WONT fall off!

Awesome!!! I feel your pain on the camera too. *sigh*

Well, shoot. Overstock.com seems to have some cute and affordable sparklies? Some of their "comapre at" prices seem pretty high, though. For instance, those diamond and pink sapphire numbers supposedly retailed for $9,360 ... now $478?

Lil' WF Huggables are $495... 18K gold with VS clarity melee - 0.14 ctw. A bit less in 14K.

Um, yes please!
