Asking this question would assume that my husband ever steps foot in the kitchen.Date: 5/11/2007 10:01:44 PM

Which one of you takes greater joy in it?
The guy or the gal?
My FH loves ours. My step dad loves his... my uncle is a big fan... it seems to be a very guy friendly thing.
Personally I find it very cute when FH is playing with it. He takes such JOY in it. It''s like a toy.

OK, I am being harsh. It does happen twice a year. However no spinning occurs during those occasions.
It is a toy! Especially if you put a hamster
We have one that is string spun. The string is waxed and slick. It actually whines or whistles it goes so fast! Like those old car toys that you pullled this strap thing from...and then put on the floor and watched it fly? What were they called?
Funny how cheap you have gotten off providing the men in your family a food preparing device for entertainment. You need to pick up some glow in the dark things and let them turn the lights off...I know I know, I am opening new horizons for them.

Maybe he'd get into it if he tried the old fashioned French way?Author: TravelingGal

of course, i love mine and it still works perfect!
thanks for the spinner lesson widget! i do love mine and it is soooo easy to use (borderline fun even!) but when i started reading the responses, i realized just how old it was! of course, i started thinking maybe there was a new and improved salad spinner that i was missing out on! thanks for the reality check. obviously, there are just somethings that don't need to be improved.Date: 5/11/2007 10:45:08 PM

I spent a summer in France when I was seventeen (A long long long long time ago!). I''d never heard of ''salad spinning''. Every evening ''ma mere'' put lettuce in a perforated bag and then stepped outside and WILDLY swing it around 180 degrees numerous times. (Sort of like a softball pitcher.) Worked like a charm and misted the garden.
Maybe this would be a more ''manly'' way for him to help with dinner???

Alton Brown actually jokes in one of his episodes that you can do this with the oxo salad spinner. I really can''t see why not! It''s just not that big, is all....Date: 5/12/2007 12:39:19 AM

Sillly question, but since I''ve never owned one, are there other uses for the spinner? I do a lot of hand washing and don''t like to wring the things out . I have always wondered if you could spin out your delicate laundry. My daughter in college leaves her laundry for me and all her fancy tops are hand wash only cold water. I could have fun if I could spin them dry!
otah, whats wrong with shaking it in the sink then laying it on a paper towel for a few min?Date: 5/12/2007 10:17:30 PM

absolutely nothing! i don''t make the news i just report it. seriously, i don''t personally own one and mostly buy bagged salad.
Storm, if you try a salad spinner, you''ll never go back to the paper towel method, believe me!Date: 5/13/2007 12:36:15 AM

Thanks for the info!
I was kinda like well thats the silliest thing I ever heard of and it came out in the wrong way.
Totally. My FI actually does all the dishes and he was so confused by the salad spinner that he separated all the parts and I can''t put it back together again because I can''t find the bowl! So he buys the bagged salad because I refuse to wash and dry lettuce by hand!Date: 5/11/2007 11:02:39 PM

Me for sure. I love it. DH doesn''t even know what one is. His idea of making a salad is opening a sack of baby greens.
