If you were to take on a new project...

I’ve two...

Yellow sapphire

Fire opal (that puts my really orange spess to shame)

Feeling a bit broke so may take my time to set. Thinking ready made for the opal and custom for the sapphire.

That yellow sapphire is totally swoon worthy! :love:

Bluegemz, those crystals were so cool looking! Cant wait to see your project. What a fun thread.

I’d love to take apart the pendant and attempt a poor wannabe of this ring!!

I find this interesting.
Both the facet pattern, and something seems to be going on in there color wise? Maybe?

I have a project that I don't know what to do with- a 3.5 ct tsav garnet. Kind of stumped.

Ooh ooh me me!
Give me some pointers of what you think you want and what you know you don’t want.
And a picture of the stone on the back of your hand.
I’m bored!
:lol:

@Rfisher the stone is 10 x 7.8 mm.

I was thinking maybe, the CVB tempest, but I have never seen it in a non round setting. Or perhaps, something like this, but without the giant outer halo? A milgrain edge around the first halo?

or this, but more refined bows on the side and a more floral looking halo:

or something like this, but with bows at the shoulder and a thin diamond halo around the pear.

Caysie has the stone right now!

Awesome!
I’ll be back :)

These cut and pastes leave a ton to be desired, but I hope it can give you some food for thought.

I took some liberties, please forgive me
And I’m glad you asked! I enjoyed it.

It’s a beautiful stone - I’m sure whatever you choose will be an absolute stunner!

Thank you!!! I had looked at the ring with the integrated bows too.

Which do you like best?

This definitely helps a lot!

I'm going to tag @yssie for input as well

I'm thinking I like the two last ones the best. But maybe make the shoulders more like the smaller bows with the emeralds. I really like the tulip looking filigree on the last one.

I think CVB would do a knockout job of joining those two elements together!

@Rfisher, you have MAD photography and digital tech skills! I can’t even the most basic photoshop to save my life:doh::lol:. The suggestions you made are all stunning (though I think my faves are the Tempest and the Edwardian style ring w/c is the last pic). Tough decision but what a gorge stone, @elizat! Love the color saturation❤️

Yes, @Rfisher is great at it and those were excellent additional selections! My hand sketches were terrible and I couldn't focus.

I like the Tempest too, but it's quite simple compared to the others. Seeing the mock up helps.

I can’t sketch either. That’s why I appreciate Caysie very much for being able to articulate my mostly discombobulated design ideas.

I also love this pic below for its ultra-feminine and romantic feel. I’d wear this on date-nights, special occasions or whenever I feel special.

Love this thread!

That tsav is blinding!

The last 3 are all incredible IMHO. Love the bezel and halo combo and all the feminine details. .

The more I look at these, I really like these three, for wearability.

The very ornate is pretty, but maybe not super practical to wear daily and also, may just be too bulky. The stone is not small to start with for the project.

I do like the one with the all metal halo and super decorative shoulders. I just wonder if it would be comfy.

I could see the two with the diamond halo with rose cuts maybe. The halo could be a less traditional one as well. Maybe scalloped in shape, like the Clara she has. I have always loved the Clara ring, but kind of wanted to do it with a diamond center one day.

I really like this as well. It's very pretty and still wearable, with details.

@elizat
As much as I love the intricate ones- the simpler ones have just as much charm. It’s all in the proportions and implementation thats not apparent in these mockups and I think you’ve got that covered ;)
Maybe take a group shot of your ring family - top and side view - and that might help you choose if you want something ‘like’ you have, or something a bit different?
Speaking of side views - if you go intricate, this is a current favorite of mine
4B12C360-103F-4468-BFAF-1E926C06BF61.jpeg
just something about the low profile for wearability, but still has a lovely ‘terraced’ elevation and depth.

@Rfisher could you direct me to the navette with the bow sides? I tried a quick google and didn't find it. If you have it handy, that would be great. I'd like to send that to Caysie.

Which one? I’m dense today -

@elizat
Crap I didn’t save it. I’ll look.

I’d turn this into a ring. I want to do a birthstone ring from antique pins project. I bought one with my birthstone. This is my husband’s. And if we have kids they’d get added to the mix too.
