I''m engaged!! Woohoo!!

My fiance (I love saying that!) proposed during an amazing weekend getaway in Vermont! Very quiet, simple, romantic proposal while cuddling in front of a fire : ) Couldn''t have been more perfect - thanks for all your support during my time of waiting!!

Best of luck to all of you, and may your waits be short!

If you''re waiting for pictures, I hope I''m not going to disappoint you... We went a slightly unconventional route : ) I now have my wedding band (which he proposed with) and we''re going to keep working on a ''typical'' engagement ring this fall. I know, I know -- that''s entirely backwards, but he said when he saw my reaction to the eternity band during our trip to New York, he knew it was the one. That instant "I''m in love with this ring" feeling hasn''t happened yet with an engagement ring so we''re going to hold out until that happens! More hand pics to follow, I promise : )

Yippeee!!! Congratulations!! Aw...although it''s not traditional, I think the fact that he got you the band you fell in love with is sweet.

Welcome to the Brides in Waiting list...it''s wonderful being engaged huh?!

I know it''s a bit backwards -- but he said the look on my face when I tried on the ring was too perfect to not get it for me now... and honestly, when we''d been out trying on e-rings, I just wasn''t getting that look! Wierd, wierd me!

So on to BIW... sounds divine!

I''m trying to attach a picture one more time from the Natural Sapphire Company''s site... hand pics later!

I''m very happy for you!!!

Now for some handshots!!!...that is a beautiful band!

Cool, I love that! Gorgeous wedding band, BTW. I think it''s sweet - the band has double meaning for you, and you can have input on the ering!

Congratulations!!

I adore your band!

And don''t you worry, my FI and I almost went the backwards route too because of budget ourselves, so I think it''s pretty sweet!

Your wedding band is beautiful, the sapphires are soooo blue it''s dreamy. Congratulations on your engagement!

Thanks girls : )

I love it too!

Mandarine: I promise some hand shots when I get the ring back... even though I was there in person to decide my size, I still got it too small : ( When I went running for the first time with it on it was insanely tight so that I could feel the blood pumping in my hand. Not quite sure how to describe it, but really uncomfortable... It''ll be back Monday or Tuesday I think! And then pictures will be taken!

Anchor: It certainly made things financially easier... not that I was looking at anything insane for an e-ring, but it''s nice knowing we didn''t break the bank for it, or anywhere close!

Kcoursolle: That''s why I love it... it''s incredibly blue! And not just in the amazing jewelery store lights... It''s still beautiful inside with bad lighting, or outside on a cloudy day! Makes me smile big time : )

Firegoddess: the double meaning makes me happy -- it''s a very concrete symbol of our marriage to come... but a great reminder of the beginning of our engagement too!

RoseAngel: I''m so glad he decided to get the band instead of an e-ring... It was a complete surprise (we just visited the store and looked... no buying at the time)! If he''d gone ahead and gotten an e-ring I didn''t love, it really would have made me sad... now we''ll work on it together. In the meantime... I''m happy!

Thanks everyone : )

I think it''s a beautiful engagement ring! There is no typical, it''s whatever works for you. I have a friend with a 5 stone "wedding band" for an engagement ring and she and her hubby have matching plat bands for their wedding bands.

Good luck in finding another ring that works for you!

Congratulations--the band is really beautiful! And here is a ring from Signed Pieces that I have to throw out there as an option for your other ring. I love this so much that if I didn''t already have a sapphire ring I''d buy it myself, but the next best thing is for a PS''er to get it!

Yay! Congratulations! I love your wb! It''s sooo pretty!

Hop-Skip & jump! Congratulations. Vermont is soooooo beautiful & romantic. You are not weird at all...I think your engagement ring is amazing. I would gladly flash that baby! Me likey - me want one!

DeeJay: Thanks for the suggestion : ) It is very pretty. I just dont'' know if it''s me. I''ve been to a few local stores, as well as Natural Sapphire Co. and honestly, all the e-rings I''ve tried on just feel silly. They look big and over-the-top and just goofy! I look at all the girls'' hand pics on here and I''m in love with them, especially MINE''s spess, MsFlutter''s Ruby, or SanDiegoLady''s sapphire, but I try on similar ideas and I''m just not in love with them on ME. And I don''t have anything against diamonds... it''s just that the colored stones stick out more in my memory.

Robbie: Thanks for the compliment... I love it too!

Ries: Vermont was beautiful -- we''re both from there originally and try to get back every chance we get. Hopefully we''ll make it back soon for good!

Maybe it''s just a matter of getting used to fancy jewelery -- I love the wedding band, so maybe that will "acclimate" me to the whole BLING thing : )

Well, I''ll keep looking and keep trying!

Aurelia:

Best Wishes! I am newly engaged as well! Love the wedding band! Sapphires are my second favorite and they are my birthstone!

See you on the Bride''s in Waiting Forum!

That is SO sweet!!!!!

The band is divine too, by the way!!!! WHat fun it will be to work on an engagement ring now! Congratulations!

congrats! I love the way you did it, backward or not. And as warped as we are on here sometimes, the ring is just the *bonus* the man is what we really want!!!

I love the band, I am actually thinking of getting another band to stack with wedding band when i dont wear ering. Maybe you could just get a unique band if you dont want a big ring. This is one I am in love with from fay cullen...

Congratulations! Excited to see hand shots and what you will choose to go with your beautiful band. I love it!

MSFLUTTER- i looooove that ring, i know this isn''t my process, but if i was in that situation and didn''t like the look of erings (and still couldn''t find a ring i liked) i think having two eternity bands would be awesome!
plus that one is so pretty, and it looks like it could really compliment Aurelia *wedding band/engagement ring*
and, you know, this would mean you are still getting a wedding band for your wedding day :)

if i didn''t have my heart set on a certain engagement ring, i think i''d go this root (but i''m a sucker for eternity rings lol)

Congratulations on your engagement, Aurelia! I just love your ring, too!

(Sidenote: I''ve gone on their website and looked at that ring at least once a day this week. I can''t wait to see handshots!) I like the idea of two stacked rings if "traditional" engagement rings just don''t feel right to you.

thank you everyone : )

I suppose another "issue" is that with a sort-of-small ring finger (size 5), I feel like adding another ring to my hand takes up too much space -- it also looks a bit cluttered, even if the rings match perfectly. Again, this is something I might just get used to, but it leads me to ask a question... I suppose for the married girls...

Do any of you wear your engagement ring and wedding band separately? If so, why? Any questions about it, or other "consequences" (okay, that sounds overly dramatic...)

That way neither ring would compete with the other... Also, for work, I''m only allowed to wear a flat band (the eternity band is fine) and no solitaire/3 stone kind of rings. It''s a "sanitaiton" issue -- supposedly no matter how much you scrub your hands, more bacteria remains lodged in an engagement-type ring than eternity? Wouldn''t want to kill a patient with an infection... so I''ll listen : )

SparklyStars: No problem... always love to hear others'' opinions. I thought about stacking 2 eternity bands, but this one is 3mm thick and pretty substantial in platinum, so I''m not sure if 2 on one finger would feel right - maybe kind of bulky? But it''d be pretty

Blenheim: you made me laugh saying you''ve been looking at that ring once a week : ) Sorry if it''s gone temporarily from their site! I know the similar treated-sapphire band is still listed, but I''m sure they could always make another natural sapphire one if you were interested! Also, is that a new puppy in your avatar??

DandiAndi & Equestrienne: Thanks for your kind words : ) It''s reassuring other people know I''m not completely insane (okay, that sounds sad)! But my fiance worried that people might wonder why we "skipped" a step... I think it''s just "us" though to do it OUR way... so no biggie... though my mother was certainly a bit surprised!

MsFlutter: I wanted to tell you that your Ruby Wedding was gorgeous! I absolutely loved the red accents on your dress, shoes... and of course... the RING! Definetly an inspriation for wedding planning later on : )

I''m married.

I wear my rings seperately. My engagement ring was sized for my right ring finger (as was his e-ring) in order to free up our left ring fingers for matching bands. We couldn''t agree on matching bands and I ended up with a wide (for me) very filigree antique wedding band (it clashes with any other ring) as well as a flat 3mm titanium band. I was married with both wedding bands. My rings have lived on different hands.

There have been a couple of questions as well as a couple of comments, but nothing out of the ordinary (you will discover that *everyone* will have something to say about any ring you happen to chose).

Hey ladies : )

You wanted hand shots? Here''s the best I''ve got so far... I''m having trouble convincing my camera to do real close up shots, and my hands not to look like big scary dinosaurs... Will try more later!
