I fly out tomorrow for Wedding Part 1. Today I went for a mani-pedi. The lady did a rotten job and got in a nasty mean fight with the receptionist WHILE she was doing my nails (and this is an upscale salon) and then she overcharged me. So, that was relaxing.
Then I got home, realized that I hadn''t thought through what to wear to the cocktail party my mom is hosting for us, nor what to wear to FI''s cultural equivalent of a rehearsal dinner. I don''t really have anything appropriate for either (I''m assuming a black cocktail dress is really not bridey enough). Plus, I left the best shoe option in my office.
Now I''m trying to pack, but mom has been accumulating a huge amount of shopping (via the internet, sent to me since mail in her country ain''t so reliable) that I have to bring her, and FI on his way out the door (he left today) told me he left his shoes and all his shirts for me to carry for him. My suitcase is now, literally, not big enough. And I still have to carry my wedding dress with all 200 lbs of beading.
Feeling rather grumpy and a little overwhelmed, I decided to pour myself my last scotch as a single lady. I reached up for a snifter and spilled THE WHOLE BOTTLE all over the counter and onto the floor. I guess that''ll teach me to have a drink in the afternoon!
Well, whatever. My limbs are all intact. Soon I''ll see my mom and step-dad and some of my dearest friends, and then I marry FI. And at least I have a few days to unwind before chaos descends on my mom''s house.
