I haven''t figured out my reception decor yet. My main focus lately is the chairs. Everything I see is bows and organza sashes tied to chairs, and I would love to not have those. The chairs I''ll have are standard banquet chairs so I want to cover them with something, I just can''t figure out what. Any idears, folks?

What''s the rest of your decor like?

My colors are gray, ivory and eggplant/plum. The linens will likely be ivory with a gray overlay or runner and the centerpiece florals (mini calla lilies), napkin rings, and candles will be eggplant colored. The centerpieces will be tall, narrow vases with water, lighting and a lampshade (ivory). That''s all I''ve got so far...

Don''t really have anything to add, but I wanted to say I love your name oh schnapp!

You can still sash the chairs and secure the sashes with a pin or flower or decorative device of some kind. Or tie them like neckties ... that could be kind of groovy!

ETA: Or what about thick natural colored twine -- could complement the colors. Or strips of burlap?

I love this idea!!!

Or, can you just get the simple chair covers like these?

I like the necktie idea also but I''ve only seen it down on the chivari chairs, rather than standard banquet chairs, so I''m not quite sure how I''d pull that off...It would definitely be a good look if I could, though. I also saw this second look and thought it would look nice if the the chairs had tight/fitted covers underneath the wavy/ruffled sash to make it stand out more (in the thumbnail diplayed to the left of the page, first column, third row down)

I kind of like these...they''d look nice over the standard (round top) banquet chairs, right? Or night quite as elegant as with these chairs...

...forgot to mention I only like the chair covers. I can''t cheer for that table linen.

Those chair cover things are quite expensive - it might almost be cheaper to rent the chiavaris and be done with it.

Check out www.dressmychair.com for more ideas...

I was gonna suggest renting Chivaris also. You can find good rental deals sometimes if you search, I''ve been told. Also someone else who had chair covers at her wedding said they look beautiful at first, but when people actually sit in them they slip and slide all over the chairs and it ends up looking like there''s a pile of laundry in your reception space.

That''s true - I may as well rent the chivaris for the price of those expensive covers. I''m gonna keep looking; I''m sure I''ll find something I like that''s not priced sky high...

Ditto. We rented Chivaris and it was the best decision ever. Its so clean looking. I didn''t want to fuss with all that fabric.
