The color for the 1st pic is so stunning!!!

I'm a big fan of imperial topaz, and glad to see it getting some love here. I'm still learning about what constitutes the finest examples. My understanding is that elongated cuts are preferred to show off the natural color variations within the stone. Some sources refer to the effect as pleochroism, but that's a misnomer, IMO, because the effect has more to do with cut and saturation than color axes. Anyway, apparently you want to see a concentration of the reddish-orange coloration at both "tips" of, say, a pear, marquise, or long cushion, etc. And then the body of the gem should be a shade of golden. I think that is a "purist's" definition. But I love the bright marigold and peachy stones as well. OP, your examples are stunning!

This is the best Imperial Topaz we've ever seen in person, and at an estate jewelry store! It was a 12ct stone set in 18k gold with trillion side stones and priced at 20K. :eek-2: I don't remember ever seeing an Imperial Topaz that didn't have a window, and this one was no exception despite its rich color.

The window does look much better on the finger as you can see. =)2

We won an uncertified 7.45ct Imp Topaz for a very low impulsive price back in early 2020. However, it had a window emphasized by a wide, flat keel so DW just forgot it at the bottom of her jewel box. This beautiful piece above reminded us we actually owned one, and motivated us into action. Hopefully we'll have it set and in hand soon. =)2

This is mine, cut by Jeff White - I specified no brown or orange, and he picked this one out for me from a pile of pink roughs:

I just bought 8 pieces of rough imperial topaz from a contact in Brazil, sight unseen! But I love the stuff so much, and rough is almost impossible to find these days, so I just had to have it and took a risk.
One of pieces looks to be the same pink, or maybe a little darker, as DK's and I am really excited for that one. It won't yield a 9 ct stone, those sizes are really hard to find; that whopper must be worth a fortune, you're very lucky!
Thanks for the profile pic compliment Autumn! It's from my instagram account, and it cracks me up.

Assuming reds count as imperial, this is the best I've seen.

'This extraordinary gem was certified by the Gübelin Gem Lab in Switzerland as a natural Imperial Topaz with the color identified as "red-pink."'
